I think it’s more like: that’s Gaijin life in Japan, and if you want anything more than that you’re going to have to learn Japanese, learn how to argue and to improve or remove yourself from situations like this. Things are not set in stone as much as people pretend them to be.
Some advice I’ve received from other gaijin in Japan was “Don’t be afraid to be gaijin and you’ll have a much better time.” So many people feel that the treatment of gaijin in Japan is an example of racism, but I don’t see it any worse than the treatment of foreigners in America. In fact, I think foreigners in America have it worse in a lot of ways.
I haven’t spoken much Japanese in the last few months, but I think I can get my point across, if not with a massive stutter. I also intend to make a lot of Japanese friends to help me out with things.
To be perfectly honest, I haven’t received much hate. If I have, it’s been in a passive form where I just get ignored, but that could be for any number of reasons. People were talking shit about me on the Blazblue BBS, then I showed up and started posting and they all shut up really quickly.
But yeah, knowing Japanese really makes you seem a lot smarter to them, imo.
haha yeah, i was told that my japanese is ‘superb’ because i said yoroshiku to someone. I’ve learned not to take any praise from them seriously, well unless i really deserve it
i was told that my ryu was good because I made shoryu fadc ultra^^
best advice ever. some dudes come to japan and try wayyyyyy too hard to fit in, get accepted and not fit the gaijin stereotype. the only people you should be going out of your way to respect are the ones who put food on your table. just be yourself and get on with your life. you shouldnt care what some random dude on the street or on a bbs thinks about you, their lives are probably 10 times more miserable than yours.
hey people in japan! is there anyone that knows someone who doesnt play sf4 and has a cell phone that could do me a biiiig favor and register my card on their phone? plz pm me if you can help! thxxxxx!
Hi guys! Me and some friends are going to japan in a few days and are staying in Ueno (not the city, just a street with this name) dont know exactly where it is because the trip is planned by a friend of mine xDD
We wanted to know what are the best arcades to go around there those days if we want to play against good players both from US and japan, ive read big box arcade will be nice but dunno.
Wich days and arcades would you recommend to go? And if you know major tournaments or something like that those days it will be very interesting too.
Thank you very much!
pd: we play 3s and sf4
WHAT IT DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
hit me up man. i will pm you my cell number.
give me the dates and time you will arrive and leave. hope to see you 2 again.
how about some JD or black nikka on the corner again!
Can someone give me directions to Mikado? Also, does anyone know what arcade has the highest concentration of CvS2 players?
Will be leaving for Tochigi-ken (Sano City) in 2 days, anyone in the Tochigi area?
yamanote line - takadanobaba station
After you get out of the station, if you go right, you’ll go to big box. Go left, and go down this dark shady looking alley. After half a block or so, you’ll run into Mikado.
am in japan too and i was wondering if there is any late night arcade sessions going on? Inos or ksks arcade?
What chunkis is basically saying is that we are in Japan til the 23rd and staying at Takadanobaba, 5mins from Mikado. I’ve been in there playing some BB and GG, guy with a black bag always ready to get the next 50/100 yen out of his pocket…I’m basically a bottomless pit of cash for 2 weeks…almost literally.
I’ll be in there sometime today, going to Shibuya and Shinjuku now…maybe Akihabara, still got some shopping to do…I’m loving it. Hope to see and talk to you guys soon.
Someone show me whats good in AH2, I want to see whats good with Zenia before I go back to England and…never…play it again… ;__;
this.
if you feel you really have to fit in with people here, you don’t need to know them. if you find people who accept you here, that’s great, but it’s not really different than anywhere else cept you’re just, you know, foreign.
zakuta - i went to mikado to meet up with you last night but you werent there.
Ill prolly go back today, but we’ll see…
Oh really?
I should give you my number, I was around today. If you want to meet up somewhere else we can do that…I have plenty of time to spare.
I really would like to learn AH2, but accessability after Japan is at an all-time low unless I get the arcade board…which sucks, as Examu would just release another update. Oh well.
Usually I get to Mikado around 9 and stay til closing. I’m with a few other people including chunkis so it really depends on what they are doing too.
anyone at home on a friday night and wanna play it up -_-?
tribaL’s got some expensive shit to pay for in the near future and he’s being anti-social in order to save some money.
i just got back from SBO, shit was mad hype, epic stuff. you on psn??
