im thinking about going to shin ookubo alpha station tomorrow (friday)

if anyones down…

I’d be willing to play you in ST if they have it there. I get off work at 6PM.
Btw is that on the Yamanote line, the stop after Shinjuku? Send me a PM with your contact info if you wanna meet up.

Thanks,

This short notice as HELL But…

Is anybody interested in playing at my place tomorrow afternoon? Seeing how this is last minute I won’t have 2 TV’s. But if you have PSP or a DS I’m pretty sure people will be willing to play games like Mario Kart DS, Tekken DR, Jump Ultimate Stars.

Games:
Tekken 5
MVC2 & 3rd Strike - “Have both of these games for DC but no sticks” I’m trying to burn it for the ps2 now.
Old Smash Brothers - "I have 4 controllers - We are good"
Rival Schools - DC "If I can get it to work."
Melty Blood PS2
Soul Calibur 3

dude i would hella come, but that is like an hour to an hour and a half away from me. hella days away man. i have 2 sticks for the ps2 also. syoganai

ok for those who arn’t going to monkee’s get up, me and shekeib are going to shibuya. if you can go to monkee’s get up, go and have fun for us, but that is too far man. pm either of us if you down to meet up. i speak japanese so dont worry about that. i am goin to a club later too.

3000 yen for nomihodai and tabehodai (all you can eat and drink) at a club in shinjuku. hit me up for details

wow, is there a time limit for that place?? where is it?

shiet i wish i could go to some of these but im usually busy on the weekends… we should really plan a get together a week in advanced or something

I wanted to ask you guys that live in japan about a few things because there is a bunch of us from europe going for sbo and are wondering about transport at night.

We are going to be staying in fukagawa and a lot of us dont know much about that area, we are only staying there because its cheap. Now we don`t really want to be restricted to having to get the last train home and some of us were wondering about other forms of transport at night?

But one of the things we are going to look into is renting a couple of cars for the week and just drive around depending on cost.

So if anybody could give information on renting a car, parking fees ect in central tokyo, any information about renting cars how much it costs ect ect would be really appreciated.

Also mobile phones, reno said before that you you can rent them from the airport? How much and for how long. Any information on this would also be great.

Also does anybody have any information about fukagwa. It`s on the shinjuku line and 3 stops away from akihabara, but thats all the information i know about it. Any arcades, cheap places to eat in the area ect??

Thanks in advance.

you can either pay a taxi triver alot of money, walk, or sleep at Mc Donalds

ya, if you got the money to do that, power to you. but renting a car itself is an arm and a half. you need to contact you insurance, get a temp international permit, and pay lots of money to rent a car. as for the parking fee, i know in tokyo (shibuya, shinjuku, surronding areas) it is 3man yen (300 USD) at minimum. so like i said, if you gots the money, power to you.

i havent been able to get a phone from the airport, ever, but just goto softbank (the new vodafone) and start a phone there, but usually, you need a bank account to get a phone from another service, so basically, just goto softbank and hope someone speaks engrish.

um, if you send me the address of your hotel, i can get you some directions to the good arcades and what not. other than that, i believe you are talking about yamanote line or shinjuku subline. but any how, when you get here, i can show you about. it is alot esier that way rather than giving you a map and tellin you to go for it.

Thanks for geting back to me so fast, i will keep you posted. Cheers for the feedback.

yo monkee, how about starting another thread to continue this one?
hella posts from 6 months ago. 6 month intevals will keep the threads clean and easy to navigate.

just some advice from a constant user my man. I mean, i would start it, but it is your credit for this thread.

You can get a phone from the airport! Every person that I’ve met up with has gotten a cellphone from the airport somewhere.

If you’re looking for someone at Softbank who can speak English, go to the Harajuku Softbank (near the GAP) store and ask for “Saya”. You can tell her that Andrew recommended that you talk to her. She’s a friend of mine and I can vouch that her english is pretty much perfect.

shit didnt know that… i would have told my lil brother to do the same then…

but n e way, tokyo (any ward really), osaka, kyoto, okinawa, they all have english speakers. i had to take my new employees to soft bank to get their phone started, the less time you stay in japan, the easier it is to make a phone plan. mostly because you are going to stay there for a month and you dont have to worry about how much you will talk 6 months down the line when you got more friends and a girlfriend.

so if they dont speak engilsh, just say, “no stay long, ichiban cheap” and they know what to do. everyone knows a bit of english in greater tokyo and other major cities. but there is always that one occasion were you are fucked and no translation or gesture works at all. happened to all of us that became a first time gaijin here.

hey, im bouta leave and play 3s at shibuya. KaiKai (i think thats the name of it) game center. I’ll be down there from 5:30 till around 9, jason, u should come by if u have a lil time

hey, i know just about all of you are around tokyo area, but do you know of any good places in osaka, preferably the south part, like around namba? i’m living in south osaka by hagoromo now, working near osakajo. the only places i’ve heard of are a-cho all the way in kyoto (freakin far) and that monte carlo in umeda (very much out of the way for me).

i’m mostly into guilty gear and melty blood but have been wanting to play arcana hearts. i’m a sorry scrub at almost everything else, especially marvel games, lol… except smash bros…

Hey how much from it cost to go tokyo looks like a paradise place lol

I’m wondering how many of you guys are around in Aug. I’m thinking about throwing video game party at my place.
