[Jan 11th &12th 2014] Defend The North (NYC FGC Major Tournament)

Special thank you to Sweet johnny cage and Big E for helping me make this all possible. Those two are my big Bros

New York City:

For years, we have presented our skills across the United states in the fighting game community. unfortunately, the US has not had the opportunity to see why we are the second biggest and strongest region in the FGC (South Cali 1st)… Until now!

Its time to show the true potential of our NYC cast, its time to show the teens in community can be the toughest opponents to the top players from other regions, its time to let the world see how our top players remain to stay on their toes. Its time to Defend the North.

Community Effort Donations Drive (CEDD):

The Fighting Game Community (FGC) as of late has been more concerned about player payouts rather than the player competition. Because Team Professional Instigators Entertainment (PIE) drives on the opposite, to attract the attention of other regions to attempt to take the first Defend The North title, we are asking for the FGC’s help in raising funds towards the pot bonuses of DTNs main event games. 60% of the CEDD will go towards Street Fighter AE and Marvel vs. Capcom 3; the top 2 fighting games at the event. The other 40% will be a community voted pot bonus.

To help raise the funds for this event, Team PIE will host biweekly sessions showcasing high-level Street Fighter AE matches with some of the best players in the tri-state area. NYCfurby along side with PIE Lee Chung will commentate the matches for insightful information and also for entertaining commentary. Before each session, we will give the opportunity for donors to vote on concept matches they would like to see at the session. The matches with the highest number of votes will be played.

Two weeks before DTN we will announce the pot bonuses for each game and close the donation drive for the pot bonuses.

Team PIE thanks the community for your continued support and without it, the FGC is not going anywhere anytime soon. We hope to someday get the FGC community to look like the MOBA community

DOTA2 created a crowd support event and raised over 2 million dollars

Thanks!

We thank you for your support!!!

LMAO! I don’t know why, but the name cracks me up. The King in the North!
I remember you, I went to a few of your events a couple of years ago. Only one I remember specifically was the one at Fat Cat (I go there at times to play ping pong). You played Sakura if I remember correctly.
Are you adding more games to the list?

That moment when you dont have money for the hotel and ur just standing outside the whole night like a boss

Usually a good sign when the creator of the thread hasn’t been on here since October 8th lol

I’m going to duplicate this thread over on testyourmight.com to make more Injustice players aware because the majority of them are on TYM.

If at all possible I’d like to bring my own set up and run a side MK9 tournament.

i might be there depends on how im doing

how about what time does it start and are there team tournaments for marvel. the info is vague.

thx fr the love guys! Schedule will be up this week. it gets shaky to create a schedule when NYC heads always procrastinate in pre registering lol. there is no Team tourney for marvel yet. so far just a 5v5 exhibition.

what is the actual address of the tourn?

Sup everyone, so my boy joined the tournament, however he didnt realize he needed a XBOX 360 stick to play since he has PS3(i know hes a douche he didnt read the full rules), if anyone will be at the tournament and is willing to let him use theirs you’d be an awesome person, (obviously if you’re not using it during one of your own matches). Or if anyone is willing to let me rent one off of them for the day I’ll throw up a few dollars for it. My apologies if i wasnt supposed to post this here but i figured this thread would be the easiest way of contact with the majority of people going as everyone frequents SRK. Thanks for your help.
