Jamin3131 Presents - Mastering Control: The Joystick Exhibit-Thursday April 28th T.O

Even though I’m mostly a lurker, I’ll be coming along with a friend of mine (he’ll be bring his custom modded V3SA). Hope to see everyone.

Could u give me a lift on the way back? Check ur pm.

k still got 3 spots left in my car for a ride back to sauga if anyone else wants a ride back

Sorry we couldn’t make it up :frowning: making it out of St. Catharines today would have been impossible, the power JUST went back up and has been out since noon, driving conditions around here were terrible today, all traffic lights out, and I saw at least 3-4 cars crushed by downed trees.

Hopefully I’ll be able to make it up in the next few weeks and we can look at getting me a stick put together.

Good times! Congratulations Jamin on your exhibit.

Super quick shout out to every one who made it our tonight! You made the room look constantly hype to all onlookers and guests!

Sorry to hear bout the ghsf ppl who were trapped by the storm but thank you for willing to make the trying to make it out!!!

More shout outs after I get some sleep!!!

Shout Outs

The Shout Outs Post [Long Version]

Hi Everyone! Thank you for making it out the exhibit once again and for really making it a great success! I received fantastic praise from fellow classmates, teachers and gamers alike, but obviously such an endeavour could not be completely done by Myself.

I’d like to thank the following people for their awesome help and support over the last four months (and Longer)!

These first three were my backbone and probably wouldn’t have gotten where I was today with them:

My Family for being behind me and believing in me.

My Girlfriend Natalie for being patient and supportive over the past four years while I worked away long hours, especially the last few weeks when the exhibit was nearing showtime!

And Randy “theronin23/Enlight” LeGendre for not only letting me convert his basement into a workshop, but for also working with me on creating some of the fantastic joysticks that were made exclusively for the exhibit. I would like to add that during the course of our work, his mother passed away and she will be missed by all of whom were touched by her life. I commend Randy for continuing to work on the exhibit with me after his loss.

Next shout outs to my supporting cast for helping me in some way, shape or form (I pray I don’t miss anyone!)

George Lee for lending me the bulk of his power tools since I only have a screw driver to my name.

Chuck Fong for lending me his table saw.

My classmates Laura, Michelle, Fatma, and Ricardo for pushing when I was procrastinating, and also for helping set up the exhibit.

Emily “Emlarr” Chow for baking awesome joystick cupcakes.

Vince “RXS” Hui at GHSF for promoting the exhibit on his streams.

Pavel for helping me put up the vinyl lettering.

Evolved Entertainment for providing the fantastic lighting setup. Really helped turn a boring study room in a stunning showroom!

Dice and Vaughan at TFNS for lending me their LCD monitors.

The Ontario Street Fighter scene (All Regions and parts unknown) for coming out to support the show. Thanks for letting non gamers play every once in a while

My Thesis Supervisor Ian Gregory for guiding me in the right direction and studio mentor Paddy Harrington at Bruce Mau Design for great insight and input.

The Shoryuken.com Tech Talk community for early input and fantastic knowledge on all things arcade stick, for their inspiring artwork and templates, and just for being awesome in general.

Slagcoin.com for being the best resource on joystick building!

Per and Akihabara Shop for great high rez images and components (PS360 is rock solid!)

Lizard Lick, Etokki and Tek-Innovationsfor their great variety in parts.

I am more than sure that I’m missing someone in here, but It is probably because I’m working from MY memory, which is a known fact to be really spotty at best.

Thank you Everyone for your Fantastic Support and I look forward to doing this again on a much larger scale, at least a bigger room lol!

Congrats again Jamin! The pics look amazing. So sorry that we weren’t able to make it down.

Great exhibit Jamin.
If that Greyscale Dragon stick does not belong to anyone I’d like to purchase it if you are willing to sell. It has…charm

Thanks Guys!!

The GreyScales stick does have a very happy owner (theronin223), but if you would like one very similar we can have it ready for you shortly. I’ll shoot you a price once we’ve finalized some details.

Thanks again!

ps - for the exception of the retail sticks (VLX, TE, SE), all sticks on display can be sold or remade if anyone is interested…

Hey Guys,

Jamin1313 Interview
There are pictures up as well.

This is our first time doing reports so bare with us. We will certainly make it look even more professional next time.
Comments are more than welcome.

NeoRussell

Thanks for the Interview and exposure Russell!

Some critiques if I may:

One thing you can work on is your closing remarks for future interviews, something as simple as “this is NeoRussell for TTT…”

Also, Titles could stay on screen a little longer for easier reading.

Great Job overall though

Loved it, gotta put Toronto on the map for fighters and the fighting community!
Wish I could have stayed long enough to bum a fightstick cupcake haha~

Loved the main stage with Jason/Randy’s greyscale, Finkle and Arthong’s custom sticks(wood, metal and plexi), it’s too bad there were no hit box stick aroun.

OH SHIT! Front Page of SRK Jason. Congrats. Best exposure for sure.

Good stuff Russell! I tried texting you but my phone was acting up!

remind them to fix Tororontotoptiers on their link!
