Notice thats when Zoe Zaldana and her mom forgave him. All hail the mighty penis!
wow blooper…no one has mentioned that yet
I dunno, I kinda got a dances with wolves/last samurai feel from it… weird i know!
i will accept your rolling eyes and in return give you a disappointed head shake:shake: for not checking the other 600 posts.
i guess the storyline was just so generic that it could resemble anything, really.
just want to rant and say I really enjoyed this movie a while week or two back, and I saw it in 3D. My friend were convinced it was symbolic of how the white man did black people lol. Definitely a must see, and I didn’t mind paying the 12.50 it cost to see it.
lol. it could have been the white man doing ANYthing to ANYone. thats what seems to be the common idea everyone is getting.
lol Well it definitely seems to allude to the settlers destroying the Native Americans.
Man that Project 880 sounds extremely hot. I really really wish he’d left in some of that.
The story is good, the effects are good (so good that I actually kind of forget they’re even effects), and the characters and interactions are interesting, but the story isn’t the best I’ve ever seen and the characters and interactions aren’t the best I’ve ever seen. And the music is frankly a disappointment. Not that it’s bad, it’s just a mere complement; it’s not like with Star Wars or Lord of the Rings where the music tells the story and is an integral part in the experience, it’s just kind of a nice accompaniment. There are moments where the music is almost super awesome and then it kind of pulls back and becomes a regular movie soundtrack again.
But despite all of that, I like this movie more than any I’ve seen in a long time. The only similar experience like this with a movie is with the first Matrix, but that was killed entirely by the 2nd and 3rd Matrixes and in any case I like Avatar more. Obviously we all grew up with Star Wars and never really had a chance to be blown away by it, and while I was blown away by Lord of the Rings, I was already a long-time fan of the books, so it wasn’t really the same thing.
So I think Avatar as a film is not as good as some other movies, and yet I’m still really really into it. Why? I think it’s just the universe Cameron came up with and all the possibilities it has. Like with that Project 880 thing, the Avatar universe lends itself to some potentially extremely awesome stories. I can’t wait for the sequels and obviously-coming Star Wars-style universe expansion.
I thought the movie was great. The CG was awesome, the story was good, if a little predictable. My biggest problem was “Unobtainium”. really, James Cameron? “Hardtogetium” and “cantgetenoughium” weren’t available?
As mentioned Unobtanium is a real word.
Yep…it’s listed in the urban dictionary as a synonym for “Dat ass”.
yeah it was a lot more about native americans than black people i think.
I don’t remember the two races solving their differences at the end of Avatar. In fact I remember one face gettin their ass kicked the fuck off.
Creepily similar.
I had a couple of questions raised after finishing the movie.
1)Time: I could not follow time in this movie at all. If he’s up for 12 hours in say the real body, and 12 hours are spent in the alien body, when does he sleep? He says he’s tired so I would assume when his real body is unconscious he is not sleeping per se. So if/when he does sleep is his avatar body just offline for a day at a time? They never really address this.
2)What happened to the scientist who wasn’t the protagonist or grace? His avatar was shot down, and it shows him leaving his little matrix tube thing, but he’s panting and seemingly alive. They don’t make it clear if “matrix law” of die in the matrix, die in the real world applies.
I think technically when he’s in the Na’vi body his human body is “asleep” and it’s like he’s dreaming
Then he “wakes up” in the human body, his Na’vi body is asleep getting the rest it physically needs too
That’s the thing though, they clearly make it seem like that’s not the case. He’s shown being physically tired, which wouldn’t make sense if he’s sleeping 12+ hours a day.
Well, i know when i sleep too long or have crazy dreams i can wake up still feeling tired
plus i mean it’s alot on his shoulders, he’s doing all this knowing the outcome is inevitable
