James Cameron's Avatar (Dec. 18th)

You’d need a 3D Television before any of that though and right now they’re incredibly expensive.

At least your theater had it in IMAX 3D< bought Avatar: The IMAX 3D experience movie tickets at the AMC here. Guess fucking what? IMAX and no 3D. Bullshit. They let us go to the 3D theater at least, even then I’d just be: “Fuck it I’m going to the 3D theater anyway” they don’t check your tickets after you go up the stairs to the theater anyway

Weekend estimates $73 million opening for Avatar, the 2nd highest opening in December, putting it above Return of the King and right below I Am Legend. Theres really damn good for an original movie not based on some book or pre-existing franchise.

I could setup a stereoscopic setup at the crib. Wouldn’t be as good as the theatre version though  just a no win situation.

well atleast ps3 has support for stereoscopic 3d. so thats one solution solved heh.

it…does…

changes Xmas list, takes off Kindle and ask for a PS3 from someone

I shouldhave kept my glasses honestly. MAybe I can go to the theatre and just steal like 12 of’em.

I just assumed with two Imaxes in my area that one of them would be playing Avatar :expressionless:

One is still showing A Christmas Carol and the other is some film about pilots.

Are there any plans for this to expand onto other Imaxes at a later date, or is whats out now it?

yeah sony has already stated that ps3 will be compatible with the 3d tv’s via firmware update. so its a start atleast

and they are working on 3-D blu ray technology to get something decent out.

movie was great. just like tf 1 and 2.

at least the haters in here can see 1 good movie for what it is.

as far as the “would a mofo hit a femi navi” debate… man, totally… if i were also a navi. if not they’d probably break my ass so thats a no go.

loved the world, the plot was obvious (just like every other movie out there)
but i see no reason to lower its rank for that… i went for the cinematography/graphics and to see if it would be a story i’d be interested in. it delivered on all counts.

only shit thing about this movie was its title imho, should have at least been “pandora” or if not, something else besides avatar.

and yeah if your not seeing it in 3d… you really aint seeing it.

Your avatar disqualifies you from having an opinion on what makes a good movie.

I like the WW weekend numbers, 230 + million, would have been more if it wasn’t for the awful storm in the north east.

Just saw it in 3d. The best 3d movie I have ever seen. The best movie I have seen since District 9. It, along with District 9, deserves to be nominated for best movie of the year. It’s extremely rare that a movie keeps me from going to sleep when it’s more than 2 hours in length. FYI I wouldn’t have even thought about seeing this movie before it comes out on DVD if it wasn’t for SRK GD, for reals, so thanks to you all for that. Anyways, yeah, if you’re going to see this movie, make sure you see it in 3d, it’s truly amazing.

I just liked the fight scenes in TF2 myself.
…but this movie is still fantastic.

Also mi country does not have IMax yet ;.;

Yeah storm hit us somethign fierce. I actually left work early on friday so I coudl see it before it was supposed to start snowing. I’m in talks to see it again tomorrow depending on what happens with work…

that’s nice.

going on this thread it really seems to be the visual/3d experience is what this film is all about.

are you all really liking this film or just loving the pretty pictures?

TF2 was sweet!

…if you like the taste of diarrea

Maybe because I was sitting at the very top back row, but I didn’t see the big deal about 3D. Yeah I saw some bushes and was like WHOA! But… I don’t think it made that much of a difference. Maybe I need to watchin 2D to compare…

And yeah, it seems that the colors were a bit dim with the glasses on. I could barely make out the words sometimes. But whatever.

i sat at the very back top right corner, 3d imax was amazing…if i had the income i’ld probably watch it again but in the middle to see if there is a difference…

Something must be wrong with your screen, was it a proper IMAX 3d screening??? Anywhere beteen top middle & middle middle is best. There was so many times when dust, dirt and leaves floated across the screen that I was trying to fan it away with my hand. This movie isn’t like other 3D movies, no gimicks just visual depth to give the illusion you are actually there.
