Looking at Wednesdays or Thursdays for a possible weekly ranbats at Underground Alley. I know it’s a drive, but it’ll only be once a week! We can make it a 4 week season in September to test things out. What d’ya say?
We can start it after Storm Underground 3 on the following Wed/Thu, which would be either 9/8 or 9/9. Let me know what you guys think.
For those who don’t know what ranbats are, it’s short for Ranking Battles. I like to compare it with the way Mario Kart is. You have weekly tournaments and the top 3 or 4 receive points. After the season, whoever has the most points is the winner for that season. It’ll be a small fee. Winner of the season will receive a percentage of those fees accumulated over 4 weeks. Each week will consist of small prizes, etc etc. Still working out the kinks.
I’d be super psyched for weekly ranbats. Great way for scrubs like me to level up. I may be able to make it to a couple. Tampa and Maimi have great ranbats, great resources in their forums.
I would definitely be down for weekly ranbats at Underground Alley. I would vote for Thursdays. Wednesdays I would be able to make it about 50% of the time. What time do you have in mind for start/end? Something like 6pm/10pm?
Also what about giving all placements at least a small number of points, even if its only 1 point? 1-3 would get significantly more obviously, but it would be nice to see total rankings I think, someone who consistently gets 5th should be able to see they ranked higher than someone who always got 9th at the end of the season, etc. I think it would encourage people to come more consistently and try harder, if they know they are not the absolute best but want to improve, they could see improvement simply through ranking a few spots higher than they did in the previous season/week.
I agree with that thought. Not that I can make it out to weekday stuff because of my stupid work schedule, but I like the idea of smaller “inconsequential” points for the lower placings just to help players gauge their improvement over time. Just make sure the point gaps are large enough that a silly scenario can’t occur that edges someone out who placed higher more consistently.

I agree with the points, this way it keeps it close and gives hope to scrubby people like me in it. Stupid question would there be a separate ranking for MVC3 and AE?
You can keep something in google docs, and tyger can lock it so noone else can edit it. Example:
Shit sounds good tyger. I would gladly come as long as im off of work. Which I usually am by 6 sometimes at 6 but I know any later would make it too difficult on other players. C’mon jax lets do this.
I’m down for Ranbating… But given the location and time I get out of work ( Thursday evenings are horrible for me ) I’d at best would rarely be able to go to these.
Like I said, it’s a test. I understand that it’s a long drive for a lot of us in Jacksonville, BUT I really really REALLY want this to work. If it’s only like 10 people at first, let it be. It’d still be awesome casual session to have on a weekly basis. At the same time, I was surprised at the amount of people that actually live in Orange Park that play, so maybe it won’t be as bad as we think. In any case, I’ll discuss the idea with Wendy, set it all up, and I’ll let you guys know when we kick things off!
In the meantime, we still have casual sessions at Hammer Hall (http://www.facebook.com/athammerhall) on Sundays at 5pm. If you still haven’t come out, we HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to come on out! It’s only $5 a person and it’s really getting the community together to meet everyone and learn from each other. It’s been a blast every time I’ve been there.
I’m liking this idea especially if I get my business started. I plan on having the same thing every week and it would totally generate that old Jax vs OP rivalry that they had back when Tekken still had an arcade presence. LOL This could end up being the complete come back of northeast Florida’s community. I’m still trying to make it to Hammer Hall and to Storm Underground 3. Money is hard to hold onto right now as I’m still waiting on things to start rolling in that department. I’ll know by September if I’m going to be opening the business. Wish me and my fiance luck on that front and Sying I’m still hoping to get up with you soon. I sent you a text on Wednesday, but never got a reply. Let me know what’s up!
If you have an idea, there is probably already a thread for it. Mods particularly hate when people post a new thread about things that are already being talked about. They can already tell you are new to the community.
Is anyone interested in a Round 2 (mostly black cover art) TE stick for the PS3? I’d like to just do a straight up trade for a 360 stick, TE or Hori (as long as it’s one of the new lines) in good condition. The stick has never been used and is in perfect condition, just been sitting in the box since I got it. I’d be willing to sell it also, send me a PM if you’re interested.
