Jacksonville FL Thread - We have a Fighting Game scene?

How do your tournies work usually, Tyger? Is one game played at a time, or do you mix everything? If so, can you roughly say when AE and MVC3 will be played?

I really want to go, but I can only spare a few hours on Saturday. If I knew what times each game started, it would give me a guideline of when I should show up.

Unfortunately, something came up and I’m not able to make it out this weekend. But my stuff is still at your disposal if you still wish, text me at 9049628200.

Maybe we can get some northside vs southside action going on (eg Mugen vs everyone else) !!!

Ayeeee this is what I like to see. Having a decent offline scene in Jax makes me wanna get loose

I may be back even SOONER than I thought so I wanna see this keep going. Playing online is killing my game

Last time it was like this, we started maybe 30 minutes later than scheduled because every had someone they knew on their way but stuck in traffic but once the tourney started all the games happened at once, if say Azure (me) was up for both Blazblue and MvC3 i either
A) Finish the match im currently playing and then go straight to the next, my opponent will wait for about a minute
B) We skip my match and then we play it once im done with my current match on the other game.

Or something along those lines.

Saturday at 1pm. Double elimination. All games will start at the same time!

I always give a grace period of 15-30 minutes for those who may be running late. I can understand a little lateness. Once 1:30pm hits, I charge ahead with ALL GAMES. If there are any games with more participants than others, that game will get multiple monitors. Before, we had Marvel and AE on 2 monitors each. MK and BB was on 1. If you make it after 1:30pm and we still have room in the bracket, I’ll slide you in. Otherwise, you are OUT OF LUCK.

I CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH MONITORS AND/OR SETUPS. Please let me know in this thread if you can bring anything, by email, by text (9046386090), by Facebook (Joshua L Campbell), by PM, by any means necessary. I need to make sure I have a good count before this Saturday.

Thanks guys!

you SONUVABIIIIIIIIIITTTCCCCHHH!!! LOL

ill see if i can show up. not gonna make no promises though. certain things that i gotta do that require money and are slightly more important right now.

I think im going to go to the tourney on sat, because i really wqnt to play other people. Just a couple more questions. I highly doubt it, but is there room for casuals? I really need to play against others before the tourney. If anyone wants to play online, i have ae for ps3 and mvc3 for both systems. I juat need to play against another human lol. Hopefully if one of you adds me, you have a mic so we can discuss the games. Im online after 11 pm.

Also, what does the headcount look like?

Tyger stated that he would be down for casuals after the tournament is over with time allowing. He said he would stay till 7-8pm so if the tournament is over before then casuals will be welcomed.

Well, hopefully i can play online with someone before saturday. Ranked matches are a bit random for my tastes. Of course if i cant find anyone to play, i’ll just work online. Thanks for the heads up though.

Speaking of online fill out the google doc so can we can add locals to psn/xbl. My xbl rwlapsed so im out of commision until I can get another card.

Prob make a silver xbl name ans everyone can friend that so we have one place to see if someone is online.

Ok so I got the final word from Hammer Hall as far as the Sunday Riverside meets go.
They are cool with all of it. They really just wanted to understand what we were trying to do. They didn’t get alot of it and didn’t quite understand the difference between pool fees for the tournies and the venue fee and wanted to make sure it worked the way they thought and wanted to know if they had to keep track of the pool collection and all that info.
Once I explained it all they were really excited and said if it pulls in enough people they would be more than happy to start getting more involved as far as offering prizes for the winners in addition to the pool money and stuff like that… So it sounds like it could become a pretty neat thing once it gets going. It could also open the door for them to host other game tournaments… They mentioned Halo which doesn’t excite me in the least BUT I figure some of you might be into that as well so just be aware this might even spawn other nights at this location for other types of games if anyone cares about that.

So first meet happens July 10th, Sunday @5pm. Bring yo 5 bucks. We have permission to stay until she kicks us out which probably wouldn’t be any earlier than 10 or 11pm I’ve been told. I’m going to get there a little after 4pm so I can start setting up and checking things to make sure it all goes smoothly. If Sying and Mugen wanna get there around that time it would be great. You have my number so let me know if anything goes wrong a few hours before so I have time to cover the setups. I’m gonna tell her to wave venue fees for people bringing equipment. Hopefully she’ll go for that. If not I’ll cover you guys because I feel that’s fair. Thanks everyone.

I’m excited and I hope to see alot of you there!
Also I’m still working on getting out to the OP tourney Sat so maybe I’ll get to meet a few people out that way as well.
Either way good luck to Tyger on that one.

Does this place have a internet connection? If so doing tournaments on http://challonge.com/ is soooo much easier. I have a laptop if you need it when the time comes. I just want to be sure what i’m bringing: Monitor, PS3, xbox 360, TE stick for 360, MK9 for PS3, MVC3 for 360 and SFIV:AE disk for 360, did I forget anything?

Yes, they do have internet connection.

I know about Tonamento, but didn’t know about Challonge. I’m using TIO Tournament Organizer off my laptop, so that’s taken care of. BUT if we get some weekly/biweekly things going, I think using that website would be awesome. I’ll do some more research when the time comes.

edit: Crosspost
Tyger answered that one. Good to know they have internet.

@Sying
… and you aren’t forgetting anything. That list looks good.

If you got those I’ll be bringing another monitor, an xbox360, two sticks for that, a ps2, possibly a CRT for the ps2, and two RAP2s for that. I’ll be bringing AE, MvC3, BB:CS2, VS, and 3s for their respective systems.
Then I think Mugen had a couple systems and monitors as well. So we should have a pretty quick rotation on stuff with very little waiting time. I wanna learn some matchups! Can’t wait.

I added the Jax Fighting Game Players List in my signature to help get some more people. Add yourselves to this list if you already haven’t. I promise I won’t use it to spam my tournaments to you guys >_> LOL. Seriously though, I won’t.

BUT I WILL MAKE SURE YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS SATURDAY’S TOURNAMENT:

SRK Event: [Jul 2, 2011] STORM Underground 2 - Jacksonville, FL - Sat, July 2 (Orange Park, FL)

Okay I won’t be able to make it to this one due to the fact my mom just had surgery and I work Saturday til 6 30 but I encourage all of jax to go tyger Is good peoples. His tourneys are fun, always ran efficiently and hes a cool cat.

Ima be back in town by july 8th or 9th. Pissed I wont make it to the tallahasse tournament

Ill be at the saturday tournament. See you guys there

Thats what I made it for, edit and post away! There is also a tournament/meetup tab, I tried to keep it up as much as I can but feel free to edit it as you wish.

Sounds great! I probly would not be able to make it out until after 6 but as I said I am willing to bring my desktop(for Vampire Savior and EFZ on PS3/XBOX360/PC sticks) and a full setup for TvC(system game CRT PS2>GC converter, Modded wii stick and classics) all you would need to bring is the better of the two PS2 sticks… I will try my best to get all the peeps to come out with me but that could be hard… Either way just let me know if any of it is needed and I will be sure to come on out…

Ninja Edit: I love how Tyger post on SRK that there would be a $10 door fee the day before the tourney. I mean yes people should already know from the last tourney but still, people will be posting they can not make it now. Kinda funny… You sly guy you Tyger.

Do I just pay the door fee to Underground Alley? I do not see myself playing in any tourneys but I will continue to give my money to UA. So give it to you or to them??
