The c.FP you see in videos is a counter-hit. (pretty sure) Normally you can’t link U2 from c.fp.

Up until this very moment I couldn’t figure out for the life of me why EX.CU kept coming out. This puts to rest so much frustration! Ah…

Found out something weird today…

I was playing a match today and was going for a Option Select Sweep on a Guile with cr.jab, sweep and it remarkably combo’d. I saved the replay too and watched it and it wasn’t a counterhit either.

I took it to training mode and found that if you hit an opponent with a crounching jab as soon as their hit box is made vulnerable after a untechable knockdown (during their flip-up animation), you can combo things that would never normally combo.

Example: cr.jab > cr.roundhouse & cr.jab > st.roundhouse.

*tested on Guile.

i had to check that out in training real quick :lol:
i could replicate the st.cl.roundhouse but i never got the cr.jap>sweep(i even tried turbo :sweat:)
it would be better if st.cl.roundhouse was cancellable thooo it makes me wonder if it works for other chars too(or other chars w/similarly attributed attacks)

i also may have stumbled onto something weird(vs dictator) gotta test it out some more, ill post up in matchup thread if it turns out to be legit… i think its a training recording bug tho

It works as everybody… if you can get a move to hit meaty, that gives you more frame advantage for links. for instance as Abel I played a Bison once… he jumped over me, I stuck out a c.lp that hit on its 2nd active frame. that gives you 7 frames of advantage instead of 6, so it was a 1 frame link into step kick and I combo’d a jab all the way into ultra. scaled it so bad it didn’t kill him :frowning:
but Cody would have a very easy time with this, yeb mentioned doing similar things earlier in the thread ie. using a meaty f+mp so you can combo into sweep or U2 without needing a counterhit.

if only they scaled damage scaling… you coulda killllled :razzy:

i follow you tho… i just didnt associate the concept but i definitely remember yeb speaking about meaty f+mp >sweep & have used it before :karate:

I’ve managed to combo a random meaty c.jab into c.fierce. I’m also using the max range F+MP into U2 combo, which really isn’t as hard as I expected it to be.

What would really be useful though, is if there’s a character who can be hit with some combination of jabs to reliably hit one on a later active frame. It would be very situational, but it could open up new combos.

Some resets that I like to use, didn’t see them in the OP:

s.mp, c.hp xx HK Ruffian FADC f+mp
Notes: If you walk forward a little bit while they are still flipping in the air you can cross them up with a j.mk as they land, if they get wise to this walk forward a little less and you’ll hit them from the front. This can also cross under in the corner if you dash under them just as they start to backflip from the f+mp, not very useful as it puts you in the wrong side of the corner but it’s still a nice mix up to use every once in a while.

EX Zonk FADC f+mp
Notes: Just discovered this one and still messing with it but it seems like it has the same properties of the other reset but cost 1 more meter and can be started from Cody’s best reversal. Can’t cross under except in the corner, leaves you at a good distance to cross-up or fake cross-up.

Knife throw EX ruffian kick EX criminal upper. Corner only.

I know this is hellishly impractical and stupid but it looks awesome. Oh and in the corner knife throw can lead to last dread lust if your close enough.

That’s a trial combo.

Is it worth doing:

c.lp, s.mp, c.hp etc as a combo? (say, for a punisher)

If it’s a punisher you should eliminate the c.lp since it’ll just scale the overall damage and you don’t need to hit-confirm.

If you’re close enough to make sure the s.mp will combo into c.hp without pushing you too far go for it.

C.lp is only good when hit them when they’re crouching.

could someone post the input for s.mp, c.fp xx fierce criminal combo? do you plink it or something? what is the best way to do it?

just practice its a one frame link but practice makes perfect.

I plink that, but still have problems doing it consistently.
It’s weird when you have f.MP before it though - it’s like:
f.MP (gap), plink1 MP, (shorter gap) plink2 c.HP

plink1 I do MP~LP
plink2 I do c.HP~c.MP

Dunno if that helps…
PS. You can’t do it on Hakan either - I spent ages initially trying ><

For a punisher, st.hp, cr.mp, HP CU would be better.
It’s easier to do and deals 10 less damage than c.mp, cr.hp, HP CU.

If you really wanna be efficient then practice what miaoux suggests, ending with HP CU.

On a related note, for punishing lately I was using :

cr.HP > HK RK > EX cancel > f.HK > EX CU (372/586 - 3 stocks)

And then I realized that HK RK cancel leaves enough time to charge a Zonk LV1

st.HP (keep pressing HP) HK RK > EX cancel > Zonk (304/460 - 2 stocks)

you can get any level bingo if you start charging long enough beforehand :razz:

but yeah charging a jab & doing links into rhruff>fadc is no fun :razzy:
