Another thing, meaty s.fp, it lets you link a sweep, c.fp, or ultra 2. I been trying to get f+mp to link, but no luck so far.
mhh i’m trying to find a combo that makes the opponent dizzy straight from 0 to 1000. i’ve come to 890 at max.
ch c.hp xx ex rocks, c.hp xx hk ruffian, f.hk, ex cu
anyone got a better idea?
hk rk trade will give you a free ex rk, which can also give you a ex cu in the corner.
It also gives you a free lk super anywhere on the screen.

and close s.fp can link to c.lp s.lp c.mp blabla.
I’m not sure if this is old news or not… but I’ve been playing more cody lately and i’ve been having lots of success with this combo.
he means close s.fp as meaty (so it hits with its last active frames, giving u shitload of frameadvantage) to connect it into f.mp.
but i’d say even as ch it would not combo.
i like ch f.mp, s.mp, c.mp xx something. 3 mps in a row - that’s what i call awzum.
btw is it possible to combo after a CH c.mk as meaty?

but something really cool is that you can do a level 2 focus attack for the crumple after ex rocks. the timing to charge focus attack is fairly strict but reasonably usable
example: ex rocks into level 2 focus attack into ultra1
i know alot of people know about ex rocks into ultra1 when super close to the opponent but this adds a lot more range for no extra meter
i was practicing it in the corner but i doubt it has to be done there
ex rocks … fa lvl 2 wont work afair. you’d have to ex rocks xx FAC lvl 2 and that would cost 3 bars of super and ISNT worth it.
could be wrong tho, but i’ll test it later myself.
edit: disregard below, he’s right and im way wrong, it costs 3 meter, i forgot that the focus attack is from a cancelled ex rocks, still neat but way less viable
nah you still have to be pretty close, i didn’t mean from far away, this is still close quarters, just seems to me that you don’t have to be AS close as ex rocks into ultra1
the “alot more range” i was talking about is anywhere close enough to immediately charge the focus and have it hit
costs no meter except the two bars for ex rocks
dawg that two bars is fadc and the ex rocks cost one bar. Its doable but you still get more damaga off of ex. rocks>cr. fp>hk ruff~fadc Ultra 1 for the same amount of stocks.
Oh and to the above poster who’s doing Cl.Hp>cr.lp>Hk Ruff fadc Ultra 1. You should take out the cr. lp because it scales the damage if you’re pretty sure cl.hp is going to land just go straight to hk ruff it does more damage. It even does more damage than doing cl. hp>cr. mp>Hk ruff fadc Ultra 1.
but the best one is to go into cl.mp>cr.hp>hk ruff fadc Ultra 1.
without it getting too difficult, that is the best you will do. thats my combo of choice for max punishment if i got the full bar in the corner. landing crack kick in corner is a little tricky tho lol. sometimes, you can get 910 stun off it, depending on how the ex cu hits. it seems random tho.
you can try doing ch c.fierce, ex rocks, f.strong, close s.strong, c.fierce, high ruffian, fadc, crack kick, ex cu.
combo works a little easier if you start the combo with a CH close s.fierce rather than c.fierce. the close s.fierce causes much less pushback
ended on 904 stun. so seems not possible to stun ryu etc with one combo sadly. well atleast with this amount you can stun gen, seth, ibuki, akuma etc ^^ + if you pull this out live the crowd would get crazy lol
either way. with the 890 stun combo, all you had to do is touch em once sometime before you land the combo, the odds that the combo will stun are very high on most of the cast, odds are even higher that it will stun before you end the combo(hopefully before you wast meter on fadc

Just wanted to add that doing EX CU might be easier by using negative edge: :d:+:3p:(hold):db::l:**+**release:3p:

but that seems sooooo much faster… makes me think i couldve gotten the knifegrab xx EX cu after an exzonk>fadc after all(but the timing feels so tight)

So I just started trying to “officially” alt Cody today.
Until now I’ve just been using c.lp, c.lp, c.mp xx hp CU for eveything cause I didn’t feel like learning anything else but, I wanted to make him more than just a play around character. So, rather than reading this forum first I’ve just been looking at frame data and figuring out which combos he can do and which I should use (try them all out and compare the damage scaling to difficulty) normally I wouldn’t make things so difficult on myself but, my main is Bison and he’s a pretty limited combo character so I’m just going nuts with all of the links Cody has.
I’ve been using j.(anything), sc.mp, c.lp, c.mp xx hp CU and
j.(anything), sc.hp, s.lp, c.mp xx hp CU this one has been hard because the link is so delayed after the sc.hp so i keep missing it or not being ready for the link after it
I think sc.mp, c.mp is better for these combos and still gives you enough time to hit confirm but it’s just more fun throwing in the jabs and the damage is no better or worse when adding in the jab.
Was using sc.mp , c.hp xx HP CU for punishes but, I think it’s a harder link and it does the same damage as sc.hp, c.mp xx HP CU so I’m trying to make sure I go for that one.
Using j.hp, c.lp, s.lp, s.lp, c.lk xx MK ruffian/HP CU for my knife combo
Still working on what to do off of f.mp but, usually just something simple like f.mp, c.lp, c.mp xx HP CU or f.mp, c.lk xx whatever.
In 11 pages I’m sure these combos have been posted (not to mention the comprehensive first page post) but I felt like posting them anyway. This character is fun as hell.
Is it really worth using xx zonk in any combos? I know he can do it but, it doesn’t seem worth the effort.
if I want to combo a zonk i use an ex.zonk with f+mp and if it hits go into cr.mp>ex.zonk works wonders on catching people and you can follow up with an fadc if you’ve got the meter to burn
So… why would you use zonk? Why would you want to?
What do you mean you use f.mp into ex zonk then into c.mp? Zonks knocks down. I’m confused. Or do you mean f.mp xx EX Zonk FADC c.mp xx ex Zonk? Is that really worth an entire super meter? Why wouldn’t you just f.mp, c.mp xx hk ruffian xx hk super?

but comboing exZonk can lead to high dmg&stun opportunities
in the corner you can ex criminalupper after xx exZonk
or like vCo2v said, if youve got meter to burn you can FADC… after which you can:

usually the exZonks im landing are just naked(not in combo)… but a plus if you are comboing into them: its braindead easy to get the cancel since you can release as soon as you hit the normal(most likely s.strong, c.strong, or s.forward)
as for the other stuff… i personally prefer s.strong> c.fierce all day.
