I’ve done it on occasion you have to pretty much be psychic with that. It’s possible but you better be able to land it 90% of the time so… practice up in training mode.
ok i’m not sure if i saw correctly, but can you combo into ex rocks and if so how? I THINK i remember seeing sabr3 doing it a couple times but I can’t seem to get it down. if it is possible a little insight could be useful thanks.
ex rocks combos off of counterhit fierce punch, crouching or standing. good against ppl who constantly press buttons, and after ex rocks u have quite a few options to keep the combo going.
What is the best way to combo into a HK Ruffian without them ducking under it?
I’m trying to get some U1 practice, and use my super a little more, but it seem as if they always just crouch under my HK Ruffian.
To guarantee that HK ruffian will land you need to land a fierce punch before it. either standing fierce or crouching will work, it forces them to stand. easiest way is st.fp, c.mp xx HK ruffian. s.mp, c.fp xx HK ruffian does more damage but is a 1 frame
BnB - c.lp c.lp c.mp xx fierce criminal
Punish - f+mp, s.mp, c.fp xx fierce criminal OR s.fp, c.mp xx fierce criminal
Focus Crumple - f+mp, s.mp, c.fp xx fierce criminal OR EX rocks, c.fp xx fierce criminal (lvl3 crumple only)
Is there a reason why some one frame links feel so easy. It might just be a rhythm thing but I swear I couldn’t get a damn one in vanilla.
I noticed that each one has a different timing. I used to be able to pull off f+mp to cl.mp easily but couldn’t for dear life do cl.mp to c.hp until I realized cl.mp to c.hp had to be done a lot quicker cuz cl.mp recovered faster than f+mp.
So yeah some are easy at first because the timing comes natural to you, and others are a bit different.
Practice Practice Practice.
CH c.hp xx ex rocks, c.hp xx hk ruffian FADC, ultra 1 <- I am pretty certain you can only do this in the corner. Mid-screen, you can only get up to the second c.hp on larger characters, but then the ruffian won’t connect.
Alternatively, a nice counter hit combo you can do mid screen is this (sorry if already mentioned, didn’t see it on the front page) :
[587, 530] (2) CH s.hp, c.hp xx hk ruffian FADC, ultra 1
god Cody does ridiculous amounts of damage
FWIW I can get the CH c.hp xx EX rocks, c.hp xx ruffian FADC to work almost all the time but generally I just do CH c.hp, rocks, c.fp, fierce criminal and save the rest of my meter… after landing that combo, it is basically guaranteed you will stun with your next two or three hits
Its possible outside the corner you have to be dead set against your opponent do a standing Hp into rocks even though they get pushed back you have enough space to land a c HP xx HK Ruffian
knifin around the cell earlier…
didnt see it in the OP & maybe its worth noting
w/knife: c.fierce links into s. or c.strong for 200 dmg
i know after c.fierceknife you can 1f sweep for the hardknockdown & 220 dmg(not to mention u2)…
but if for some reason thats not what youre going for, using strong after c.fierce puts you slightly more than a character space away… out of range of mostly all but the longest & advancing pokes
also: on counterhit, c.fierce knife links into s.fierce knife for 270dmg & roughly the same spacing as above
edit: counterhit c.fierce knife also links into s.roundhouse lol it looks ugly… 260dmg
since c.fierce knife lifts the opp from crouching, these work on crouching opponents… tho im fairly im sure in the long run some chars hitboxes might push cody too far back to connect some of this stuff
OOOH i like the sound of that CH Cr.HP in S.HP =)
I dont mean to sound like a total noob… but i’m new to the game and can someone tell me what the (xx) means. and (fp) and also (CH) it would really help me a lot thank you
Its all weird nerdy lingo at first, but you should google, “Street fighter terms.” It’ll help you a lot, but xx means the combo is cancelled into whatever the move is. FP is Fierce Punch (or HP High Punch) and CH is (Counter Hit)
viola! =) The rest you should look up, and welcome to the game. Who do you plan on maining?
HP is actually “heavy punch” or “hard punch” ^^
lol haha or “High punch”
thank you vCo2v and I plan on maining Cody he is a lot of fun
No problem dude if you want to just hit me up on xbox live and we’ll play
sounds cool! but i gotta get in some practice first cause i still need to learn some combos i dont think im to good
You can U2 after a max range f+mp also which is easy as hell from what i was doing, but confirmng the hit is the hard part, counter hit or not. S.mp doesnt have to be a counter hit to combo into U2, its just a 1 frame link.
