yeah its getting me really pissed. ive been able to pull out pretty much everything ive learned from you guys, except for this. last night i almost smashed the controller against the tv :annoy:
Since this is the KKZ minded thread I thought I’d post a link to my youtube video showing a basic KKZ combo that hits Yang mid-screen. I guess since the brothers are so hard to juggle…I didn’t want people to think that this combo is not possible. On the other hand…wasting the meter trying to hit them might be a bad thing too

Hope this helps the KKZ, character specific setups!
heres another one during match play…

It’s pretty easy for me (and I’m on pad :lol:). Just relax and concentrate on the lp hitting your opponent while they’re still high enough in the air. The two downs after the buffered first should flow easily.
not hard really :wgrin: (i use stick)
This is how I execute reset kkz…
When the lk hurricane hits, you see Akuma LAND ON THE GROUND AND RECOVER FOR A MOMENT before you can do the next move.
That next move is your lp. But a moment before you press it, you tap down QUICKLY during that time Akuma recovers which I mentioned in the previous paragraph. Make sure your stick/pad is in neutral when you press the lp.
And then you just tap down twice quickly and press pp
i also have a lot of trouble with this combo and even hurt my hands trying to land it. worst part is im playing on a ps2 pad and the 3p button is on L1. i also do it like d, lp, dd+p*3. and please man this shit is hard to do a pad, stick is far easier. im even thinking about changing my button layout just for this combo, putting MP on L1 and P3 on R2, just cause the R’s are far easier to hit then the Ls, wont cramp my hand as much with these weird pad positions.
My button setup:
Lp-R1
Mp-Square/L1 (L1’s for buffered Kara demons)
Hp-Triangle
Lk-R2
Mk-X
Hk-Circle
That setup is based off of the old 6-button Sega Genesis pads in which the punch/kick of the greatest strenghth is farthest right on the face of the pad. I use the right side should buttons because they coordinate well with the rest of my right hand (which I’m already using to press attack buttons) and doesn’t interfere with my left hand (which I’m too busy using to press direction inputs). I’m not sure if you’ve experienced this but when I press L1 while holding the D-pad normally I can kinda feel the short grip handles just sliding out of the bottom of my fucking hands. Even without that setup I can’t imagine having significant trouble.
Anyways I’ve learned to press 2 punches at once (cuz despite what the instruction manual/move list says you only need 2) using L1 and Triangle. With a button config like this one, it’s actually gotten to the point that sometimes I’ll forget to buffer the first crouch and I’ll still hit the KKZ w/ no problem.
X= LK
O= MK
R1=Hk
square=HP
triangle=LP
R2=MP
L1=P3
L2=K3
That’s a chaotic setup (to put it lightly). I feel liked I’d be confused by the Circle and X buttons and expect an LP from the square button and an MP from Circle. Perhaps if you introduced a little symmetry to it, doing a KKZ would be easier. The way you have it configured, your forced to juggle attack inputs between hands, which can get complicated. Also, putting P3 K3 anywhere other than a list of things not to do won’t gain you anything other than jeers. By relying on conveniently (or inconveniently, it would seem) placed buttons you allow your fingers/thumbs to get lazy and “out of shape”. Were you to be in a do-or-die situation your lax reflexes/coordination might fail you.
convert to stick, makes things much easier trust me.
i was pad player allway up to sept last year, when i just decided to change to stick & damn i didnt know wot i was missing after years people telling to give up the pad lol.
take while to get use to but just practise it with advance your game.
(will make KKZ combo a piece of cake!)
naz. since when did the kkz reset only work on the twins in the corner?
i tried it today, the shit works all over the place on the twins…
?
Hmm, try doing it with close HP, lk tatsu. Maybe its a bit more strict about how close you are to them when you do the reset…
^it works with close hp as well.
i will try and put myself a bit farther from them and try it later today
im using the old snes layout with only the punches reconfigured. HP is were LP used to be and LP is were MP used to be. ussually MP was placed on L but since there 2 Ls and Rs on the ps2 pad i put the MP on R2 as its easier accessable for me. i never have any troubles with any moves or combos on my neo cd pad or any arcade stick. for my ps2 i dont have a stick yet, so im still forced to play on my ps2 pads, which are halfway dead now.
Here’s vid, couple KKZ set-ups

Is it me or reset KKZ is harder to do against Yang and impossible against Twelve?
certain characters are very difficult to do it against. i cant seem to do it to makoto for the life of me, but it is possible on everyone, at least according to naz
It’s a tad harder on the twins but it’s totally possible on everyone (I’ve actually done it; so don’t sweat it).
Makoto’s kinda weird. She’s got a hitbox the size of Texas but the KKZ will miss if timed improperly. I’m not 100% sure on this but it seems like you can hit her with it real early or slightly late. But there’s this odd time in between that in which she can’t be hit. If you feel like you’re doing it too slow, try first hitting your opponent with one hit of a mid-air tatsu, landing, hitting them again with a short tatsu and then going for the jab reset. You can also try jabbing them out of a neutral jump.
I’m sorry… this isn’t the thread for this, but after reading this, I was thinking if it’s possible to jab(fierce) reset into raging demon. Thnx in advance.
