ah yeah, i remember going down to the local stop n’ go to play.
the aggression, the excitement, the one kid that would get cupcake stuck in the buttons…
the guy who said that cited machines being in disrepair as a deterrent to arcade success in the united states was absolutely right.
we used to change entire playsets of adversaries just looking for a machine that worked.
i am glad that we can play online now, even if it is still in its infancy.
The match was perfect, The Hype immense and the crowd was hot.
EVO 2010 can only Top this if they got more japanes Player not only Daigo.:smokin:
word, I want Mago and the rest of the crew to show up.
The irony of this post is magnificent.
lol, i agree
After Daigo shows everyone how much he won, they’ll come, or at least that’s what I hope. I want to see Daigo and at least 4 other top Japanese players come so they can set up a 5 on 5 US vs Japan team exhibition. Imagine the hype behind that? If you think choosing the regional teams was tough, just imagine the madness that will ensue when all the top players fight to try to get on the US team.
man, if these tournaments start offering serious prize money you can bet that sf will explode.
right now people compete for love.
if it was lucrative to compete, look out.
Don’t you think this could be the start of something. First the SBO quals had about 1,000 viewers, Devastation peaked at 5k I believe, and Evo went over 23k during the Wong/Umehara match. Maybe next years Evo isn’t too far off for some sponsorship money. I’m not talking about huge amounts of money, but maybe 5k in sponsorship money to add to the money from registration fees. It’s always a possibility.
At the very least, I see the SF4 tournament getting even bigger. 23k watched at home, don’t you think some of those guys will want to come out. And even if they know they’re losing $10, they’ll still want to play. I don’t know if Evo can handle it, but it if they could it wouldn’t surprise me to see 1500+ competitors for the SF4 tournament next year which would mean a grand prize of over 10k.
I wonder why daigo kept falling for balrog’s crouching fierce. He kept jumping towards wong and wong kept countering it. Was he testing him or something…
i am sure it is something they have been working on for a while now.
evo 09 was surely considered a great success.
We cant really know whats on Daigo’s mind, we can only speculate… and speculations can lead to alot of wack shit
Anyway I’m glad i caught that match live, the only thing that can probably top evo this year is SBO and ive already got a seat for that. Cant wait!
He didnt keep falling for it. He was hoping to catch Justin whiff a low roundhouse which he was throwing out a lot. Which I dont blame Justin, that normal is insanely fast with an instant recovery.
Judging by previous pages, I’m surprised a mod hasn’t locked this thread yet.
Nothing wrong about sharing our point of view about this final !
I respect the people cheering Wong :china:
This is something important to remember.
It’s just not because Japan is smaller and top players can constantly fight against each other,it’s the fast decline of arcade in the US around 2001-2002.
Halo started the mainstream craze for fps(released in 2001) and Xbox live helped most casuals or competitive players to stay at home and play on xbox live.Combine this with hardcore gamers already playing competitive fps on their pc and you now have a competitive market where fps rule supreme.
The decline of fighting game popularity in the west is linked with the growing popularity of fps.
The fuck are you talking about? Justin had Daigo scared a ton of times. Daigo ain’t that great as people think he is, he’s just good at guessing DP and anti-air. We all know if easy mode dp wasn’t in the game (df df +punch/ auto switch) he’d still be playing mahjong. Justin played solid, but he did make some legit mistakes and was way too cautious, although I can’t blame him really. He did his best, but Daigo is good at wiggling sticks in the dp motion.
Please for the love of god tell me you are being sarcastic.
Let him talk please he will maybe entertain us more !
Arcade scene was dead before then.
^fixed
by making light of daigo’s ablities you can’t help but make light of justin’s… picking sides is more complicated than its seems…
doing more harm than good.
both dudes warrant merit in there own right… both made mistakes both played well what more do you want?
