Hi, I’ve purchased the game (I’m waiting to amazon), I’ve decieded to purchase it because I’ve bought SF but I don’t wanna start taking it seriously because the game is in the end of it’s lifespan and I really like tekken but I don’t like the game for being a juggle fest (even at high levels), so I bought sfxt xD
My questions are the following:
1- Why all the people hate this game?
2-Why the people complains about the gems?
3- How big is the scene?
4- Can I play at high level without the gems that aren’t included on the game (that you have to purchase I mean)?
Thank you
- People like to hate, this was the result of the on disc DLC.
- People complained about the super defense? heck I haven’t heard a complain about that specific gem I forgot what it was called.
- The scene I think is just as big as the persona scene if not even bigger.
- Yes you can

This thread gave me STDs.
1: Several reasons, most of them are not related to the quality of the actual game.
2: People don’t like the concept. Also, assist gems used to be really strong, but they’re nerfed now. The biggest problem is that you need to buy some of them, and those are often better than the ones you get for free.
3: Scene isn’t as big as SSFIV, but I think it might grow a little when the 2013 patch is released.
4: If gems were used freely, you’d probably need to buy some to create your optimal loadout. But most tourneys seem to either ban them completely or just stick to the default gems (I think? Someone else would be better suited to explain this).
I’m thinking most tourneys that aren’t IPL or the like will probably stick to default gems - probably the easiest (and most cost effective) route without banning them outright.
Of course, I don’t know this for certain or anything. Just venturing a guess.
I remember my first pursach
To be honest i still really dont get the gem hate. Yea some of the dlc gems are good, but the gems that are already available arent that bad either and still viable. Other than the sfxt community itself, i dont think anyone has sat down and tried any sort of gem game plan. If thats the case the community should ban the use of x-factor or ultras in their respective games, pop those and you have something equal to a full offensive, defensive and speed gem setup right there. I think the gem set up and delivery could have been a bit better, but other than that its a decent system and people not using it to the fullest extent is pretty much gimping the overall gameplay.

Well, after trying the game and looking for gem info I think that the gems are unfair (I have very limited knowledge in fighting games), I think that if Crapcom see business in the gems they will do the same dirty business with other games, and that “pay to have the best” is a red line for me in any competitive game.
As for the rest of the complains I see there, I think the game is funny, maybe isn’t as funny as SSF4AE, but still is a good game.
This thread gave me cancer
Are there really purchaseable gems? So far the things I know which are downloadable in GFWL are free, like the SF and Tekken boost gem packs as well as the Assist Gem packs. I am yet to see a DLC gem that actually needs MS Points to download.
All gem sets on XBL cost 80 MSP (there are trial packs that are free, but there are way fewer of those). For some reason they are free on GWFL. It would be nice if this were a sign of things to come but I doubt it, sadly.
PC I have no idea, on the console versions there’s 21 gem packs. They run $1.00 for 10 gems, you can examine which ones you get with each pack so you can pick and choose.
Is not a matter of choice, is a matter of money, even if it where 0.01$
Is like if in Battlefield they let you use the tank but you have to pay for the canon.
Not really. You can work with the default gems just fine. Some of them can be pretty boss (so long as you’re setting them up to flow with your playstyle), but not having the paid gems doesn’t cripple your play like “having a tank with no cannon.” You just have to run a different, solid plan with what you have.
Previously this was an issue with the auto guard/tech gems. but as has been mentioned, those were nerfed into oblivion.
Thats not to say that i think Capcom handled it right at all: personally i am of the opinion that we should have been able to earn gems by playing arcade mode or s sort of extra mode (survival would have been nice), rather than sold in an ineffective nickel & dime scheme. But, there’s plenty of good strats to put to work with the gems out of the box.

Are those gems still available on XBL? Been looking all over for them, but couldn’t find any free ones. I noticed almost all my PSN gem setups involved those free trial gems
I havent checked since I got back from MI, but last I checked they still were on GWL.

You can talk about such purchases but maybe its best to keep it to yourself.
OP guy, start taking things seriously… or else!
Ok now go have fun with your video gamery yay! xD******
I understand what you say but, still, if you don’t pay you don’t have access to gameplay options that your opponent has.
I don’t care if they sell stages and clothes for 40$, that shit doesn’t affect the one who wants to get better, in fact I see that DLCs a good way to make money to allow the developers to continue the work, so for me it’s fine.
But have in mind people, that if you allow this practice Crapcom will see business.
Do you imagine a SF where you have to pay for ultras or supers?
Imagine an Akuma ultra 1 for free and ultra 2 for 0.99$, yeah the ultra 1 is the best but the guy who spend money can have both options.
