I went to las vegas for 2 weeks, i played no hd remix of ST over there. Now that iam back iam playing better.
I am zoning better and iam able to ignore my panic instincts alot better.
I feel that ive levelled up in quite a few areas without actually having any practice time, iam sure sirlin must have mentionned this somewhere at sometime.
It’s kind of like studying… you retain the information much better if you take a break every once in a while. Gives your brain a chance to recharge and process everything.
When you play a bunch everyday it’s easy to get into a rut and lose focus when playing. If you stop for awhile and them come back playing is fresh again and makes it much easier to hold your concentration and intensity.
People each handle it differently. You might be able to find research that indicates an average, but figuring out where you are in all that is still going to take experience much more than outside info.
Iam aware now that standing at the correct distance from your opponent at all times is extremely important (not sometimes but at all times), what makes the distance correct is the anti airs that you are aware of which work at that distance, therefore matchup knowledge becomes important i.e which counters work in which situations. SO, for example, your standing where you are standing because your weak punch beats all his moves from this distance. Thinking like this at ALL TIMES is priceless.
I have learnt to be more cagey and more patient. Taking less risks, (being aware of where risks lie).
I.E going for a sweep after your jump in high kick has been blocked by billjmninja is risky, he will probably dragon it.
You cant teach this but i can now see when my opponent is rattled.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned when practicing music, it’s that there’s eventually a point in your practice session where you’re not learning anything new, and you’re not instilling the necessary instincts, movements, and motions any better; you have to recognize that point, call it a day, and come back to it tomorrow.
my execution goes down the shitter when i don’t play.
but getting stuck with the same mentality is a hard thing to break, and taking some time off usually alleviates that a bit. you come back with less cloudy judgement.
