The basic recipe of what Jwong used last night (in regards to Frank):
- Combo with Felica, Hyper.
- DHC into Nova
- DHC into Frank Whiff
- Snapshot.
- Fight until frank dies.
It brings him min 90 points, and it’s possible to reach 100 this way.

Just wondering, what’s up with akuma for anchor? Does he have legit frank synergy, or is it just to have a good anchor?
I think frank and akuma are really good together, not bffs or anything but having akuma on your side can pretty much make your character show some potential, and you can do a semi lock down with akuma and frank, plus akuma assist eats up projectiles as well, I use the same team as Mr. Frank west, but have Dante on jam session that way I cover the air and ground
Just something I had an idea for today.
We all know level 1 frank is ass as anchor. But what about Level 4 frank? I went to training mode, and found that in level 3 XFC, his basicLMHS, MMHS, H ToS, HS, MMHS does 1.3 mil. On block, M, c.M, H, H Tos does roughly 250K woth of chip. Combined with his anti air super to help stop runaway shenanigans and roll + slide helping against pushblocks…this might be legit. Thoughts?
Pretty much every character with XF3 will kill a guy in 1 combo anyways and 250k worth of chip is moot because a guy will push block your first . Anti air super don’t stop superjump+air dash, fly, teleport shenanigans, and most other anchors/teams will have this so once you pop XF3 they will just run away til it’s over. Level 4 Frank is a great character, but anchor is def not his best position. He can do all the stuff you mentioned, including insane chip, without the XF3 so he really doesn’t need it. Why use it for him when so many other characters utilize it better.
In my opinion Level 4 Frank + assist is much harder to deal with than Level 4 Frank with XF alone.
>Proves Someone Wrong with correct info
>WORDS MEAN NOTHING TO ME
Listen Frank, it’s the same reason why the Round Trip+ DHC or Tag out to Frank isn’t the best idea. It’s because Frank’s Camera puts him at a huge disadavantage on his way down since it’s so unsafe.
Want Free pressure? Use Zombie Swing.
i would agree that zombie swing would be better. just remember that if you’re not being covered by an assist, that it is not a true blockstring between st. H or cr. H to zombie swing, so if an opponent is knowledgeable, they can attack you between the two hits im pretty sure.(at least thats what arcade mode taught me ;P)
It’s true. I realized through many matches using The Zombie throw that you can attack his feet RIGHT before he gets his zombie to punish him.
try doing cr. m into low zombie swing, works most of the time as on offense tool/lockdown, incase they happen to adv grd then try to open you up, the zombie swing is already in full effect and = free combo, wont work against character they have long range and dont pushblock(wesky, vergil and a few others), but that doesnt matter since everyone advs grd these days :p, if you happen to end your string with a st.h. go into cr. h then overhead or tos.l, if you end in cr.h go right into his overhead as a mix up(50/50 chance the player is either gonna get hit or you get punish but doesnt matter if you have assist backing you up) or tos.l, lol frank west is so much fun if you use everything the guy brings to the table
Theoryfighting WOOHOOOOOO
cr.m zombie swing lol the opponent would have to of never even of seen frank west to get hit by something like that. Either that, or be online im sure thats godlike online.
Better then the snapshot idea buddy :p, jk, but it’s not really godlike online or offline, it just depends on whose backing you up as an assist, I tend to do that to annoy people and see how they would react, I did say it wasn’t safe if the character didn’t adv grd or has long range, it’s more like if you let me, thanks, if not good shit to you kind of thing, but what do I know since I don’t have a name like FRANK WEST
Lol nah if it works use it lol, i do it on people i know don’t know how to fight Frank. Abuse what you can abuse i guess. Everyone just abuses different things. My name is godlike tho.
Work in all the Giant Swings you can cuz that shit is godlikeeeee
What is the legitimacy of Frank’s chip at levels 4-5? If you have assists, you can cause a great amount of chip if you use them to cover the brief opening on the startup of his swing after a series of M,cr.M,H between swings. Then the whole cycle starts again if they don’t punish the brief opening on the swing. Someone pointed out that advancing guard breaks the series, but what will they do after that?

Is there anything I’m not seeing?
This is probably going to sound dumb, but could someone kindly explain to me why Frank’s cart assist is put up on such a high pedestal?
It doesn’t feel that safe since I’ve been murderously punished for calling it out on several occasions, it doesn’t do much damage, it pushes bad guys just far enough away that following up with something becomes a chore outside of the corner, it has good reach–though it leaves plenty to be desired, it gets beaten out by what seems like a great number of projectiles, and in the rare instance it happens to hit, it ramps up the damage scaling should I happen to actually capitalize on that rare opportunity; yet everyone says to use it. Could be because his other assists are poo-poo, I guess.
I’ve got a team of Jill, Frank and Chris and really just can’t figure out what all the fuss is about over the shopping cart. So far, all I’ve got is that it helps with Jill’s frightening corner pressure.
I actually really like giant swing spam (m,h,slide, giant swing L, repeat until they manage to advancing guard it). At this past FR, I got a decent amount of casuals in and there were a whoooole bunch of people that didn’t know how to react to the lockdown and would eventually start pressing buttons. You can also start staggering the timing to punish the AG attempts against people that wise up. Frank moves forward during the swing so Vajra assist misses and the hitbox does a great job stuffing out other assist calls.

Also, if you run with an OTG assist for some reason, knee drop > otg assist + giant swing M (H in the corner)>slide works at any level and is a much more lenient confirm than trying to hit the launcher raw.
Edit for Gangie’s ninja post: I really like cart for X-23 for all the reasons you posted. It starts up ridiculously fast so it’s amazing for her mix-up game. It travels enough of the screen to be a nuisance, though I wouldn’t mind it going a bit further. Specifically, I’ll wall jump, call cart and do her Talon Attack H and drop down on them. I either get a combo if they’re pressing buttons or try to punish the cart and free pressure on block. Since she’s a reset character she doesn’t mind the scaling and it’s rediculously good for her oki game. Since cart keeps them grounded it gives her a few more combo options, too. X-23’s dash is fast enough that even if cart gets a stray hit she can wave dash behind him and connect with a s.M. I pretty much see him as Tatsu with a faster startup and as long as you don’t try to chase behind him is pretty easy to avoid getting a major punish. (Mags shockwave punish being one of the major exceptions…I don’t like this assist against him at all :/)
I would say for characters that have a strong mixup game or command grab it’s amazing. Outside of that you may as well just be using a beam or other hori assist.
Soooo…
How about that anti-phoenix tech, eh? Would help if anyone played her…:bluu:
Aparently, you can use Funny Face Crusher to kill her outright if you execute the move after a roll just before the time freeze for Dark Phoenix. Haven’t tried it myself, but it’s supposed to work, and I’ve heard Frank considered one of if not the best at keeping Dark Phoenix from coming into existence.

I don’t think it’s at all fair that anyone has the ability to kill Phoenix as she transforms, though. Won’t keep me from doing it, but I still feel bad for her.
It isn’t fair, and it is fantastic, but it still comes with the “you gotta level Frank first” issue. Leveling Frank up not only is a liability, but against a Phoenix team also usually means giving her more meter. It’s not as good as the Spider Man tech with Ultimate Web Throw since he didn’t have a pre-req to using it.
As most people who use Phoenix tend to place her as last, there should be ample opportunity to mitigate that risk by lvling frank during the first two characters.
It’s definitely a setback, but if you foresee this situation, you can prepare for it.
Now watching the Fighting for Youth stream and Combofiend showed his supposedly new team, it’s Nova/Frank/Spencer
Frank is seeing a lot more use lately, people are starting to realise the power of level 4 Frank.
