My question was is the titanium BnB > Ammy OTG crystal > grapple > DHC more damaging than doing titanium BnB > jetstream xx crazy dance > DHC? My guess is the crazy dance > DHC is more damaging, but it’s a tight link (crazy dance cancel), actually two tight links. Can I ask what your best combo after DHC glitch is with Ammy?
I’m fairly certain the best one is 22M 236L(x7) S 2369XX.
22M 236L(x7) S j.S j.3H j.236S j.236XX if you didn’t use up a ground bounce in the pre-dhc combo.
It’s also difficult to do and you need to throw in st.M against some characters when they get too low, and it’s really fickle midscreen since on most characters you’ll cross yourself up after the second 236L, but I do believe it gets you the most damage.
22M S sj.[S][S] S sj.[S][S] j.S j.236S j.236XX is much easier for a little less damage.
A bit off-topic, but you could also raw tag Dante back in and if you are midscreen, do [Volcano, j.S]x2, Cold Shower xx Stinger, Bold Cancel Teleport, j.S/Hammer, Volcano xx Beehive. Does about 600K for no effort.
In the corner, you can modify it however you usually would and do a lot more damage. One of my teams is the same as yours and my BNB builds over 2.5 meters and does just over 1.25 mil. I could probably expand Dante’s re-combo to cut down effort on the first combo a bit, but I haven’t bothered with it.
But that way Dante is back on point, Devil Trigger expended, and ready to DHC glitch again.
In many cases this is true, but missing the Crazy Dance link in Jet Stream just means you’ll have to resort to Million Dollars (or Devil Must Die) instead. If you did a full combo but then missed the link, you’ll probably still get to make your kill by using a level 3 or by DHCing once or twice.
That being said, I’m inclined to agree with you that consistency beats out damage when it comes to DHC glitch.
Because it’s optimal? I don’t see SF/SC players not doing 1f links just because there’s something easier. I guess people don’t wanna put in time to learn optimal stuff. Well, they probably don’t need it to kill with the DHC glitch, so I see where you guys are coming from.
even using grapple leads to > 1.25m damage in combos if you have the right char to dhc into from it. with crazy dance you get to milk for a lot more meter (an additional bar and a half on average if you have the right team makeup for it), but its not that necessary to get it down if you’re focused on killing.
This is done almost all the time. Especially with Dante. There are people still doing day 0 Dante BnB combos because it’s simple and works for quick damage.
If you got the CD timing down it’s fine. But you can’t say it’s optimal when all you’re really going for at that point is the DHC trick>dead character. I just feel with Dante, you can’t really say something is “optimal” when this guy is pretty much about freestyling into whatever you think is cool/works/efficient in your eyes.
This is me. Only because I just got started with him, though. Imo, you do the best combo you can hit consistently. If that’s one frame links, go for it. If it’s not, it’s not a huge deal, just use what you got.
I finally got home from visiting my mom for Mother’s day, and tried this, and I couldn’t get Revolver to combo into Grapple after the Ammy assist midscreen. It worked in the corner, but not midscreen :sad:. Disappointing.
I didn’t bother comparing them, because the Ammy -> Revolver -> Grapple combo onl works in the corner, but I would assume they do roughly the same damage. Close enough that it’s insignificant, especially considering you’re going to kill them with the DHC glitch either way.
The combo I actually use now is (Switch to sword) QCF+L, s.H, c.H xx QCF+L, c.H xx QCF+L, s.H, c.H xx QCF+L, S, j.S, jdf.H xx QCF+S.
When I was originally messing with the combos, I found that this does more damage than QCF+L x6, but honestly, it might not, I need to recheck it. It might have been slightly less damaging, but I found adding in the s.Hs and c.Hs made the combo more consistent for me. You can delay lots of stuff during the combo to keep the opponent on the same side, so you don’t have to worry about crossing under them with a QCF+L. Unfortunately, it still happens, so I still need to do a little labwork on this.
Marlin also tells me the j.[H][H] combo does more damage, but I’m pretty sure I checked and it doesn’t, unless you have an elaborate ender after the slowdown ends, which is definitely possible, because there’s a lot you can do after the j.[H], though I wont go into it in the Dante forum :lol:. I need to retest all of them to be honest.
Yeah, I’ve known about this (and you can do 3x DP+M, j.S), and I’m actually going to start using it over the Ammy combo, because its’ way easier to do. Also, like you say, it uses up the Devil Trigger, which is important, because I don’t like having Dante in the second slot already in Devil Trigger. It limits my DHC options both for damage, and for safely getting someone out.
Doesn’t sound worth it if you’re using two meter for only 740k. Especially if you have a DHC glitch partner. Even without one you can still reach that high with only one bar.
In my experience it is corner only, but if you haven’t used your Wallbounce before the revolver you can 3HHH~6H Bold Cancel 236H236H.
Oh yeah I forgot you do Revolver -> Grapple off of Cold Star+Crystal. I do Volcano~Beehive, Jet Stream~Crazy Dance, so I eat up that extra Volcano, j.S I could be using after the DHC. About how much damage does your BNB do, into the [Volcano, j.S]x3, etc? If it hits 1.25 mil or comes really close then I’ll probably just switch to that one, right now mine barely breaks 1.24 mil off of a cr.L and works anywhere on screen, but relying on Crazy Dance could be inconsistent in the long run.

plus my whole game with dante is centered around him being alone…i dont use my assists much so i would like some help with combos involving my assist characters more
i use akuma, dante, deadpool…and i sometimes switch in and out with taskmaster and akuma but mostly akuma
Charge Shot is the H followup to st.S. You’re looping st.S~HH five times.
If you use Tatsu and Katanarama, you can get two free extensions to your combo. After a j.S, call tatsu and input Volcano tk Volcano j.S and continue your combo from there. Later in the combo, after another j.S, input Volcano > Beehive > call deadpool > Volcano > Beehive (deadpool hits) > f.H > Bold Cancel > Jet Stream > Fireworks
Deadpool will reset your ground bounce for the second beehive.
