"It's show time!" Dee Jay Beginner Thread

^Agreed. Knee shot AA followed up by a cross-under is hella fun.

dude. jump lk is soooo good.

3 frame start up.

if Rufus tries to do jumping Hk for that 2 hit launch into ultra and i jump at him with lk, DJ wins…

if he starts catching on though, he just waits and does cr. mp anti air… but air to air. nothing beats that silly j. lk in the air.

Haha I prefer j. hp, aka “fist of God”

Yeah the jump lk is crazy but i would rather have more damage or a chance to mix up with the knee shot.

you must not have been around during ST or HDR

its already been dubbed the God Hand.

Its shorter and rolls off the tongue.

Man I can’t get the false crossup knee shot distance down. Would I go about how I normally crossup, then knee shot just before I jump over or what? Recent match with Jcool made me realize shit is dope but I can’t get it.

Haha darn. I was uninformed. I play ST and HDR, but not DeeJay.

didn’t realize i was doing it. its easier against rog because his hitbox is funny. his head has his own hitbox so its easier to perform on him i guess.

Rog hitbox be mad gay then. I got faked out like twice in a row by it

There a soft spot for the timing on c.lp, c.lp, c.mp? Can’t get it at all, been subbing in c.lk as a lead in to a move.

Also, is the general strategy to cross-up up on every knockdown?

Playing this guy is weird for me, I’ve been playing only Gief since Vanilla.

What is a “soft spot” for a link? is that like a large gap of time or what?

as far as crossing up every knockdown, I personally don’t do it on every knockdown. but if i notice early on that the person is either not good at dealing with the dirtyness of the cross-up (which is just something that comes with the matchup knowledge) or if they aren’t mashing dp I will cross-up at every single opportunity. If they are knocking me out of the air, I tend to empty jump or instant knee shot from the same spot and mix up the jumps in order to make them afraid to try and dp me out of the air. if they are blocking, just mix up block strings and throws.

is a beginner with deejay i can do most combos pretty ok but when it comes to climax beat ultra i suck at it., i dont know what im doing wrong do u have to charge up first then down back back forward or some bullcrap

From P1 side, U2 motion looks like this:

:db::r::df::d::db::l::ub::3p:

Where you charge the first downback, obviously.

wow i been reading the input wrong lmao thanks for the help i can finally do that ultra with no problem

Hi I am new around these forums and just picked up Deejay after receiving my first arcade stick. Dont know if this is the right thread to post in but is cr. lp to cr. mp a 1 frame link? It seems really tricky to link and i can only do it like 1/2 the time.

Yeah it is. Learn the timing or plink.

I have a few questions…

What is Dee Jay’s best Air to Air?
What is Dee Jay’s best crossup?
What are Dee Jay’s BnBs?

http://shoryuken.com/f332/dee-jay-guide-234092/

A few questions:

  1. Does Dee-Jay have any way of advancing forward while keeping charge? I guess I’m thinking too much of his slide in HDR.
  2. It seems like his best offensive tool is a jumping knee. Isn’t that…bad?

Would love some insight.

Slide is how you keep charge and move forward.
Knee shot is gdlk when used correctly.

  1. J. lp, Knee Shot, j. lk, j. HP

  2. j. mk

  3. jab jab forward
    short jab forward
jab jab short xx max out
jab jab strong xx dread kick
