What about ingame “lag”/“slowdown” when there’s ton of stuff flying around and both players are dhc’ing? Like hail-storm + doom rocks assist hitting both two or more of the opponent’s characters? Is this gonna be removed?
That is slowdown, not lag. But good question, Colonel. Who knows?
fucking HDTV lag…
This summer will be a blast.
Yeah, I’m talking about the INGAME lagginess because I guess the hardware or the vs. engine itself can’t keep up with all the shit that’s flying around the screen. I hope they don’t remove it, it’s a pretty vital part of the game, especially when you’re trying to DHC to save your point man out of a bad situation.
As I said, lag isn’t the right word for that.
i just skimmed this thread and about the IM infinite:
If you guys are using a filter and 720P + I can’t say the slowdown won’t be an issue. The best version of the game is 4:3 640x480 w/o Filters. The IM infinite problem might be that it’s on small characters and most people are used to do it versus Cable+ bigger and that you might be getting slowdown due to the PS3/360 not keeping up with the Crisp/Smooth filter – IIRC the filter processes the stages as well. If not, it’s because the sprites are huge and there is a ton of stuff going on in Marvel at all times.
So yeah, it’s not lag, it’s slowdown.
Thank you Magnetro for clearing things up. Working on the game of course you would know!
well, if the settings cause constant “slowdown”, then that would be considered lag wouldn’t it? I suppose your point is that it’s not HDTV lag, but rather lag from filters/settings?
this definitely feels like constant (not slowdown) HDTV lag that I used to play on, with IM, chunli, general combos. You can notice the lag even outside of combos (sj. up+fierce comes out pretty late).
not being used to the inf definitely isn’t a problem. and I was using the optimal settings you explained
i knew the game play seemed slow. It feels like mvc2 when your givin the option to pick normal and turbo.
but always on normal.
now its like mvc2 arcade version. BUT ON CONSOLE.
actually I would much prefer arcade than this laggy shit.
it’s not simply slow, you have to anticipate hits and purposely do things to early (like IM’s infinite before he even leaves the ground) in order to hope to get things right. don’t even bring in playing against another human : /
It looks slow on youtube. like some dumbed down version on normal. I have 100% faith though. This is the best thing to happen, ever. Demand nothing but perfection!
Just tested on my little CRT (and posted about this in the other thread.)
CRT: Can’t feel any lag. Can hit IM combos with ease.
HDTV: Pretty much had to do the infinite with my eyes closed or I would fuck up. Couldn’t even land my usual unfly infinite starter even when I tried to adjust for the input delay.
Just read the last few posts in this thread and I’m with BeaTs* on this one. The problem people are having with IM combos is definitely because of input delay. The visual cues we are used to using for timing the infinite are late (because of input delay/hdtv lag/whatever you want to call it) and thus our button presses are late and thus it’s difficult to do combos.
This isn’t such a big issue for combos, we can relearn them and adjust to the new timing…
The real problem is that this makes blocking significantly harder, effectively buffing MSP.
Keep in mind that lag varies between HDTVs and that many HDTVs have specific videogame modes that reduce lag. So one person’s HDTV experience will not be the same as everyone else’s.
And that’s really the worst part, don’t you think?
I don’t know… It pays to do some research before making a large purchase like an HDTV. I can’t feel too sorry for somebody who buys one without checking out its stats.
Damn the first thing I notice when I was in the menu option was the lack of kk and pp option. So I quit game and deleted the download. There is no way I can chain gound and air combo into a super with a ps3 controller. I don’t have a fat thumb. Hopefully they iron out this issue before the release.
If someone’s about to unblockable me, I will mass download porn on my laptop hoping the lag will throw him off
Damnit it Kai, you still on dem frag girls? lol
I doubt it’s the hardware, the 360 and PS3 easily dwarf the Dreamcast in terms memory so it’s probably some sort of SNAFU in the emulation code.
I mean considering this is a port of a port (Ported from Arcade to DC from DC to PSN/360) there could definitely be something lost in conversion.
I mean they already tweaked some of the game code to remove the Gambit glitch, So it’s very possible with them fixing shit they broke something else in the process.
Hopefully they address these concerns and they are completely ironed out once the full version hits PSN / XBLA.
I would hate to wait for a patch like we had to for HD Remix and even still even with the patch, Akuma was still broken.
I’d much rather they get it right the first time, and not hold out on us to fix it later.
Lets hope that this slowdown / lag / whatever it is is just something that only effects the demo and is not a part of the full release.
