It was fun and all, but lets get real for a second

A Sakura combo.

Anyway, isn’t this thread kind of useless now?

bloody hell practicing dudley execution makes my hands feel like they have arthritis after a while…

Are you using pad?

My stick is broken, and trying to use Dudley on pad is insane. My hands were physically hurting. I’m used to pad too; I even finished 100% of the vanilla SFIV challenges on pad. Dudley is a whole other story. Any of you pad players that consistently pull off cr.lk, cr.lp, st.HK xx EX MGB, kudos to you my friends.

sad thing is… i’m not even using a pad… it’s a stick… but I hold the endpoint of the stick with my fingers so its a lot of flexing and stretching for my hand… kinda feels stiff now…

I main Dudley and I’m on pad, I haven’t found anything difficult at all myself, many of my stronger friend play on Pad themselves, one mains C.Viper and he executes all her SJC combos flawlessly, I find for one that Default A has been my friend for ages and will be my preferred layout, especially cause of how easy his Target Combos just feel on there (think running your index finger from LP to HP easy on a stick)

as for Dudley 101 combo… the harder part is the follow up duck straight, upper (super cancel)

How consistently can you link cr.lp to st.hk and then cancel into ex MGB?

off line? i can do it off one jab, the overhead to HK link is quite easy, after i learned that the secret is to hit early as possible i was able to cr.hk x3,
it’s really down to muscle memory, i just practice beforehand in training mode and then online it’s quite a breeze.

I’m confused because these are three different combos.

I guess what he meant was he’s more able to connect just one cr. lp as opposed to 2 into st.hk canceled into ex mgb. Once you get the timing down, it’s no problem at all though. Just gotta be quick about it. I dunno why he went into the overhead into st.hk and the corner sweeps though.

sorry grammar is bad,
three different combos,
jab into roundhouse is consistent offline
overhead to roundhouse is quite easy
the triple sweep is simple to do when you know you have to hit the second as early as possible.

I mentioned the other two because I’ve heard that ppl recommend P-Linking them

Is it really hard? I’ve been a pad player since vanilla…I find it easy to pull off that combo a number of times. The one time I really have a combo that can be hard to pull of if something like cr.lk, cr.lp, st.hk xx jet upper because you have to do it really fast and when I atempt the st.hk into jet upper, i mess up by doing st.hk but holding the analog facing the enemy, so the dart shot overhead might come out as i’m trying to do the shoryuken motion lol. But after countless practice, it gets easier. I’m too poor to afford a stick…so pad I go, and it’s more fun to use

Also, my hands don’t hurt when I use pad, but do sweat…(please no negative minds lol)

I sometimes do cr.lp x2 into st.hkxx EX MGB instead of just 1 cr.lp because it gives me more time to time the EX MGB even though it’s still the same with just 1 cr.lp. Even the f.mk, st.hk xx EX MGB is easy for me as a pad player. By the way I use default settings, no buttons are changed…

This thread is funny.

Did you guys really not know Dudley sucked until now?

The first day I played Dudley, it was obvious that he was a pretty bad character. He works against people that have no idea what’s going on, and even against some that do, but he’ll never win a tournament with knowledgeable players of a decent level. It just won’t happen.

Still…Dudley is very fun to use, but I’d never use him in a serious tournament environment.

Ibuki, Guy and Makoto suck. Dudley certainly doesn’t.

Guy and Dud are just about equal, IMO. Ibuki is definitely better than Dudley. Yeah, Mak sucks, but she sucks for pretty much the same reasons as Dudley. Dud just does more damage, so it’s not quite as pronounced, but he has the same issues.

Dudley is the man, Ibuki sucks. Dudley can fight mad chars though… he sucks if you can’t hit confirm especially off counterhits.

Dudley isnt bad, just learn how to counter pokes on reaction, and some footsies.
/close thread.

Also someone make a social thread so this one can die.

Dudley is tournament worthy . You must have high execution skills and play safe . I’ll give em a try . Remember a loss = a lack of defense

Dudley can take licks like a tank too. 3 frame jab. Combos into Ultra for 400+ damage off a sneeze, let alone most of his normals. Builds meter easily and doesn’t need to burn it.

He’s definitely viable.

Wolfkrone, I love your mix-up games with Viper! You’ve shown me how good Viper is and I love watching most of your matches, seeing you play Dudley would be awesome man.

Honestly, people were shitting on Viper when SF4 came out too. I feel the SF3 III strike cast from the core are more technical characters, and since they can’t easily attain wins people think they suck. I think with good patience, execution, and knowing what beats what can mitigate many of his weaknesses. Also…Ibuki and Guy are not bad characters, maybe if they’re played by someone who sucks but that’s not the same thing.

Watching Marn use Dudley kind of proves my point:

I love how he succeeds against one of the characters with the strongest defensive and zoning games in SF. It’s always like a game of chess with these more technical characters, it seems that being able to break down these defensives will improve your game immensely.

I myself might switch from Gief to Dudley, I’ll think on it.

And who cares if he isn’t high tier? He’s certainly no lower than mid tier and let’s be honest, if he was S tier everybody would use him. Needing extra skill to exceed with him in my opinion is not a bad thing, in fact I think it can make you a better player because it sort of molds your state of mind. Dudley has decent tools and he’s quick enough to get in on anyone (this isn’t Gief/T. Hawk). He does have limitations, hopefully the really bad ones are fixed in some sort of patch later on.

That’s completely untrue, absurd even. To win with Dudley you have to have good technique, quick reflexes, and patience to spot and exploit openings.

Dudley is special for many reasons, one in which he inspires Street Fighter players to become better Street Fighter players.

I can’t believe the word “suck” was applied to Dudley. Absurd.
