honestly it already looks scott pilgrimish. i don’t want it to look anymore like it.
rcr was the first game i had on my nes other than mario/duckhunt that came with it when i got one if it matters.

I’d just like to take this time to say that Crash N’ The Boyz Street Challenge was Mario Party about a decade before there was Mario Party.
For a while I didn’t know that running affected the power of throws. After that, two
step runs ALL DAY.
We do, it’s called the ignore button. I use it pretty liberally when it’s clear someone won’t ever have anything useful to say.
Throws and attacks.

other way around.
I put River City Ransom on my phone not too long ago because of this Kickstarter and I forgot how much of a blast the original game was. Whichever one of you guys said it was lacking mechanics is an idiot, that game was incredibly innovative and packed to the brim with ways to play the game. I don’t think in any other beat em up I would have ever thought to walk UP into the background to go to other areas and then literally step into stores and buy stuff if they didn’t put a big fat dumb “GO HERE” arrow on it, but all of that is in the game, which means you can explore. Running changing how you interact with enemies and objects, being able to hit objects to send them flying into a dude’s head at 90 miles an hour, the starting of the combo system, the RPG elements, what’s missing from any other beat em up game? A mega crush that would arguably break the game? A backdash? Being able to call in the police? Who cares.
I backed the hell out of this game and I hope a lot more people do soon. I’d really love for there to be an online mode. Also some of the challenge modes from different versions of RCR. This game has so much potential to be just as great and enjoyable as the original.
my fav combos involve a downed enemy/boss (usually from dragon feet or grand slam) into a throw into fatal steps run then repeat throw/run/fatal steps. or i’d just run, jump (acro circus), run over to downed enemy, fatal steps, throw, run, fatal steps, etc.

I can’t wait to try out the new characters for their combos. Glen with the ground juggle launch run up shoryuken into more juggle looks fun. Bannon with the Poison Mist also looks super fun, I really didn’t expect him to be a luchadore. The new characters look super crazy, I don’t think I’ve ever been so hype for a beat em up game.
I have little faith in this game tbh …
Mighty No. 9 is how you get some people on board, I want that level of professionalism …
I would quite literally empty out my pockets for that game, this one, not so much…

What exactly is unprofessional about this game?
What JohnGrimm says is pretty much spot-on. The really interesting part about River City Ransom is some of its ideas remain rarities even today. There are not many co-op brawlers like it where you can do things like grab a weapon, have your friend jump on top of it, throw the weapon (and thus him), then have him throw his weapon… and either of you can land on it and roll with the momentum (if it was a tire, anyway). You could even combine this with springing off of walls to a limited extent, varying the angles this sort of trick could be done from.
It was only useful in a handful of fights, but it was incredibly fun. River City Ransom really was co-op brawler meets physics sandbox… on the NES!
Yoshihisa Kishimoto is now an official part of the development of the game to ensure both quality and faithfulness to the original series. If you don’t know who this man is I suggest you do some light reading and discover the man who essentially created the beat em up genre.
My avatar. Do you see it? That is all you should need to kickstart this game.
Stretch Goals
$205,000.00 - Apple® Mac™ and Linux™
With the recent announcement of SteamOS, Linux is even more of an interesting choice for developers. And of course, we can’t ignore the many folks who love their Macs. Our game library is well traveled in the *nix space, so we are confident in our ability to deliver this stretch goal.
$280,000.00 - Sony® PS4™ and PlayStation®Vita
Our original goal remains unchanged. The technical complexity for this goal is higher, but the effort involved paves the way for future platforms.
$320,000.00 - Nintendo® WiiU™ and 3DS™
Our initial talks with Nintendo have been encouraging, and we have heard from many vocal and passionate fans of the platform. We have said that River City Ransom: Underground belongs on Nintendo, and with the right resources, we can make it happen.
$360,000.00 - Microsoft® Xbox One™
Based on Microsoft’s new Independent Developers Publishing Program, and the foundations laid in previous stretch goals, it looks like clear sailing to reach fans on this platform at this level.
$390,000.00 - Sony® PS3™
The current generation PlayStation 3 is a platform in its own right, and we don’t want to ignore it. This level will give us confidence to ship on this console as well.
Q&A
Q: Where’s the XBOX 360™?
A: At this time we are not aware of any clear path to release an indie title on the XBOX 360 non-exclusively or without a publisher, and we don’t want to commit to something when we don’t know all the facts.
Q: Why is PS3™ higher than PS4™?
A: The PS3™ is a console in it is own right, and we wanted to maximize the reach of our stretch goal planning across platform brands.
Q: Will we get our choice of game copy for a stretch goal if we backed a reward that includes a copy of the game?
A: For Windows and Mac/Linux (including Steam if we are able to distribute there), absolutely. For the others, it depends on the overall cost of the digital codes offered by the platforms, but we’ll work hard to make this a reality. We just don’t have all the details at this time.
Only $60,000 left to go until they reach their funding with 9 days left to go! I think they can make it, here’s to hoping.
Please make that goal, plus the Linux stretch goal, and it’s a buy for me.
If I could donate over here, I would.
Aaaaaaaaaand localization is being covered I guess. Not a huge announcement for anyone outside of Japan, but the Japanese game cover is probably going to look awesome.
I’ma have to fasho pledge to this shit. The OG game was too ahead of its time
Edit: Pitched in 100$
