Is Vega really that bad?

Not necessarily, it just means that he HAS to take the mixup/pressure as opposed to the options alot of other characters have to get out of them (DP>FADC, Teleport, Safe reversals, Invincible specials/EX, Ultras, godlike backdashes etc). Vega has none of that so in some matchups being in a mix really fuckin blows.

and by bad matchup i mean its not in Vega’s favor. so it can go from 5.5-4.5 to 7-3 if u wanna put it in numbers. putting on numbers on MUs is lame anyway… doesnt really add much aside from useless arguing.

pressure isn’t pressure, pressure is relative to character dynamics. Guile pressure =/ Yomi type pressure. And don’t be a smart ass please

ima be a dick on purpose, but it sure felt that way when I used to play you.

Ha, lol’d when I read this.

There’s nothing wrong with those numbers.

Just “not in Vegas favor” could mean even as well. “Bad matchup” quite clearly states that Vega ist 4.5 or worse. If you have a bad matchup against anyone that can generate more or less serious pressure and/or has dangerous mixup options, you’re in for 25-30 bad matchups, and that’d pretty much mean your character is downright trash.
But yeah I guess you didn’t mean it like that and as pedoviejo put it, I’m being a smartass.

Nah theyre wrong, if you really think Cammy is 5-5 then you’re flat out playing bad competition. Matchup numbers are based on the assumption that the opponent is a top/high-level player not some random online scrub.

Also please realize that “bad matchups” in SOME instances can be purely subjective. The numbers are guideline only. For example a lot of people believe Balrog is 6-4 in Balrog’s favour. I believe it is 5-5 because yes, he has to get in on you first and no, I haven’t just played “Shitty Rogs” as I had someone try to throw at me before.
But that point aside, other people think Blanka is a huge problem, Jozhear and Vegaman will contest this to the grave that it is 5-5 if not 6-4 in Vega’s favour.

There are some bad matchups that are clear as day to their number, such as Rufus. But I don’t think you’ll find anyone saying it’s in Vega’s favour. He has too many options to shut him out. Whereas with something like Balrog, you have plenty of options of your own to keep him away from you and patience to corner pressure will pull you through the matchup.

But no, Vega is not “Terrible” or “Downright trash.” He just takes effort.
Effort which a shockingly (or not) amount of people do not have.

Cammy is kinda iffy against Vega, he’s just got too much of an advantage over her IMO.

Lolno. You have more options than I can think of to keep Vega out. You’re not rushing down and playing footsies enough if you’re struggling that bad. In Super, yes it was worse for Vega because of TKCS. But she still has her Cannon strike anyway to keep him down and has frame traps harder than Vega can press buttons through.

Learn to use frame traps and actually footsie and keep pressure with those + Cannon strike.
Since those are the foundations of pretty much what Cammy beats Vega with which makes it very 6-4 if not 7-3 IN Cammy’s favour.

Thanks, I’ll remember that.

Vs cammy it’s 7-3 IMO. Her favor.

I think you just play shitty Rogs…

Nah but seriously, I use to think the Balrog match-up was in his favor until I started using st.lk more, walking backward more and stopped mashing crouch tech like an idiot. Now the MU feels 50/50. I almost never get hit by buffalo head butt anymore, and most Rogs base their whole game plan soley off landing that into Ultra. Getting simple fundamentals down can really change your peception on a seemingly hard MU.

By the way… ‘favour’… I love it. How very little our world is becoming.

'Fraid not, my friend.

I remember posting this tip on here somewhere. I can’t remember where though. This mixed with sthk and crMK make it really difficult for Rog to get in.

i think so yeah, what say you good sir?

My first time seeing or hearing that Vega beats DeeJay. I always hear Vegas complaining about the matchup. Maybe you know something that other Vega players don’t know.

it’s not too bad, i pretty much explained everything i thought was important in the post on the previous page.

the bottom line is characters who are offensively oriented are going to give vega more trouble than someone who is passive-aggressive and relies on momentum like deejay. once you get your proper block and a chance to backdash, dee jay has to work on that avenue again. in the meantime it doesn’t really matter if he gets you with single hits and etc because he has to concede a lot of space to get a boom out (since vega walks so fast) and in this way you can push him to the corner. once there he obviously becomes a lot weaker.

like anyone it’s trouble some when he knocks you down especialy with a couple bars and ultra 2, but the game up to that point is in my opinion most definitely in vega’s favour. plus when you knock deejay down you can give him big headaches since his footsies aren’t on vega’s level. deejay might rely a bit TOO much on the knee IMO.

=/ Really because I think it’s a pretty easy matchup aswell. Just gotta take your time. Once you’re in, Dee Jay can’t do a lot to get you off him if you’ve got a smart pressure game with Vega.
Like Joz said, he doesn’t have the footsies to stand up to it and Vega has PLENTY of Oki tools on a KD to really mess with Dee Jay.

When I’m playing with my friends and I random him I only use ex roll it does so much damage besides that Vega is a decent character with monster pokes

Lol it would have been funny at the end of you post you would have said “You want me to show you”… straight challenge.

He’s only bad when you’re Noel Brown.
