there really is
there always is
Elaborate.
-.- jeez. take a break from the forums and all hell breaks loose.
Look if you hate the game. that’s your cup of tea. Don’t compare apples and oranges. They’re not the same things for obvious reasons; which means stop beating a dead horse.
Anti airing…soooooo if you have trouble 5-6 months into the game anti airing you may wanna consider this.
GO in the lab and practice your anti airs. That’s it. It’s not rocket science. If you say jump in attacks are strong gief would like to have a word with you and ex srk from ryu too. Oh and don’t forget you could um BLOCK and um ALPHA COUNTER a herp derp.
ABC combos are things you earn and some of you may not agree with this; that is fine, it’s your opinion. Even if it’s “random” in some people’s eyes you still got the hit yes? You got hit with the move right? Why? Think for a second. I the attacker put a move out that i know has good range and a chance to hit someone if they try to press something. I as the defensive player want to play some footsies and try to beat you back with my normal. Or i’m stupid and don’t block. It’s easy to see why you’re getting hit. There’s no random to this game. You as the player have a ton of options. When you break down the game it’s so complex. It all begins at the character select screen. Team composition, strats, footsies, and utilizing your options and bar to help you win over your foe.
You can only get so far with gimmicks in this game. There is no comeback mechanic. You have to OUTPLAY your opponent. You have to OUT THINK and EXECUTE better than them.
Not many people are willing to go as far in the own personal game and are very content with saying, “game sucks, play X game instead”.
Lastly i want to get back on the whole topic of this forum post. I want to know if many of you are trying to be “that guy” of your scene for sfxt. That if someone said teach me the game you could and such. I am fortunate my scene’s ogs are there to coach me and teach me the game on a whole new spectrum. They love the game and at first they didn’t like it like most. They gave the game a chance and because of that i felt i have improved as a player thanks to them.
With all that i said you can take it two ways. Listen to it or don’t. Your call people. But to bitch about a game at this point is kinda stupid. I would contradict myself but i’m going to say it. Go play another fucking game. Like honestly. Stick with your game. Don’t come here and put everyone and the game on blast. What are you trying to prove to yourself? That x game is superior in certain ways. Look at fucking marvel. It is by far the shittiest game out right now and people still love to play it. I don’t like it but i’m not going to go out of my way and go to their boards and say…UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH MARVEL IS LIKE THE SHITTIEST GAME EVER. HAHAHAHA. YOU WASTE YOUR TIME. GO PLAY SF4! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU ALL SUCK BTW. YOU CAN’T COMPARE MARVEL TO SF4 (yeah no shit right?). The funny thing about this is…before sfxt came out people hated sf4 and called it a shitty game and compared it to 3s, or maybe you have selective memory? What’s more ironic is people are now praising the game for being such a great masterpiece, it’s actually really funny imo. To be honest I’m not one to usually get up and defend the game as often because i admit to it’s faults and the problems it had during it’s lifetime. But please don’t come around touting this game is shit and blasting the mechanics and then have the audacity to say another game is better. Like someone told D_dollars, how would you like it if someone came to your ken boards and talked shit about ken being broken. It’s disrespectful dude and down right ignorant. I understand you don’t like the game and despite this game’s iteration of ken, but leave it be. Why hold a grudge over a game, yes a game. If you have problems with spending money on the game and not being satisfied, i hear you dude most games out there are like that nowadays.
To conclude this wall of text I leave it with this…“to each their own, but if you’re a jack ass expect wasps to come after you.”
If the only thing you have to bring to the discussion is insults, then no, there really isn’t.
Personally I prefer the Charge-Attack Dash Cancel mechanic. Once you start using it in this game, it opens up quite a few options, and there’s quite a few things charge canceling does on its own (storing a counter hit, for example, opens up a lot of options for certain characters).
This is coming from someone who didn’t hate FADC.
But, end of the day, as you both said it’s all preference (and hey, I still like SF4 though I don’t play it nearly as much). SFxT is just more exciting to me, and a different take on the traditional SF game - for obvious reasons. The team aspect is pretty interesting as well, and I find myself either in training mode or in endless lobbies having more fun trying new combinations or setups than I have in a long while.
Yeeup, I remember that, for sure. Largely agree with everything you stated.
To the OP: honestly? The game is moving forward, but some of the players aren’t. Rather than learn the game, we’re too busy trying to “fix” it, shouting for nerfs to whatever ailes us (be it anti-airs or boost combos). It’s become a very tiresome discussion, especially amidst the things people are finding out every day as they actually play the game.
It’s ironic only in the same correlation that progressively after 3S/CvS2/MvC2 era, every game just got worse and worse. Yeah, SF4 is worse than 3S/CvS2. Comparing SF4 to 3S or CvS2 I am very proud to say it’s a crappy comparison. You can’t even compare.
So now we are comparing the leagues of SF4 to the even lower league that SFxT stands in. Yes, we have people who say SF4 is a classic or a masterpiece, true. And that is true too, SF4 is in it’s own leagues a few notches below the 1999-2002 era.
However, I dont think anybody will claim that SFxT will be a masterpiece when the newer games after SFxT will be released.
You make a good point, and this time the comparison is just different.
If you think they are different you are a huge idiot. 2 can play that game! How insightful of you!!!
evolution chart:
VS - magic series
Versus series - magic series (which is really what it is + launcher)
SfxT - magic series
All based on the same concept from Vampire Savior. I would know too, as I grew up playing all these games as they were released.
this game is dead, hardly anyone takes it seriously. it won’t be at evo next year, or any tournament, that’s for sure
Fuck what other people think. I still think this game is fun. And so I’ll continue to play it. I also happen to think SF4 is one of the worst games in all of SF history. And I’ll try to avoid playing that as much as I can.
extravagant is right. All of these new games kinda suck. But I have more fun with SFxT. Here’s to hoping the new Darkstalkers is fun and gets some love from the community.
Haha ohhhhhhhhhhhh, the memories of this thread. Sorry for bumping, I had a question. I ask your opinion.
So I heard there’s a 2013 update coming soon for this game. It looks like they changed quite a lot of things for the next patch, so what do you guys think?
Will the next patch absolutely change the game? Also, is Ryu and Kazuya still broken OP? Lol, ambiguous crossups all day.
I heard Hugo got some buffs.
In any case, when will this 2013 patch update be released?
Fun thread wasn’t it? We were so young and challenged then, just a couple months ago.
Anyways.
So far I’m liking the changes personally, but as always there’s varying opinions on that. I was skeptical at first but I think they addressed most things. It’ll be a different game to a point, but still overall the game we enjoy.
Eh, they weren’t broken or OP to begin with (IMO of course), but Ryu has been slightly nerfed further (I don’t think he needed it, but eh’, whatchya gonna’ do?). Kaz I’m not sure, I don’t really play hm so I don’t want to speak out of turn but he was slightly nerfed as well IIRC. Nina got buffs, lots of the Tekken cast got AAs, and Jin is about to be in that tier beyond S tier, the “Seriously, he’s an Asshole Tier” since he got nothing but buffs lol.
Hugo got nerfed actually. Though he did get kinda’ indirectly buffed with the punishable rolls and boost chain recovery nerf across the board.
As far as I’ve heard/read, looks like December-ish. Probably trying to wait out the rest of the Capcom 25th.
Side note: I might be completely off on some of that info, so I’d say check this thread for the in-depth change log that Darkphyre organized.
Im ok with the new system changes and im looking forward to most of the changes, even though it’s highly debatable about the change log and whether or not the game will be wide received after the patch is…a stretch…but for it’s dedicated community members(myself included) will be playing it regardless I suppose.
but I think most people are willing to give the game another chance so in term, that ** does **move the game forward…
If you complain about chain combos being too good you’re officially a moron. If you think it doesn’t take skill to utilize chain combos then what the hell is the marvel series then? Don’t give me that “it’s a different game” crap. We’re talking about the validity of a specific game mechanic. The real question is why shouldn’t hit-confirms be easy? Just what exactly is it about training your muscle memory to hit-confirm a 1-frame link that is any more valid than hit confirming a chain combo? Here is what close-minded, elitist idiots don’t get about chain combos: If you get opened up you deserve to take the damage. End of story. The people complaining about chain combos are the very same people who mindlessly mash in the middle of links in the hopes the other person messes up. In other words, you want capcom to make it harder for other people to play their characters properly so you can have an unfair advantage over beginning players who struggle with the dexterity and muscle memory based aspects of fighting game (i.e. you’re a coward).
Someone has to explain to me why they’re okay with a Dudley player hitting them with a light linked to a medium cancelled into a special, but when that same Dudley player hits them with a light chained to a medium cancelled into a special it suddenly becomes scrub tactics. It doesn’t make any sense. Guess what? In both cases YOU should’ve blocked low, it’s YOUR own fault you got hit, and maybe if you spent more time thinking about how to block instead of complaining about how Capcom should make it harder for other people to do their combos you wouldn’t be in this mess.
Overall, I feel that every player should have access to relatively similar damage on their combos and relatively similar quality of hit confirms. The test of skill should not be on whether or not you can do difficult links under heavy lag conditions. The test of skill should be if you can use strategy and cunning in order to force your opponent into situations where you are more likely to hit a big combo that will win you the match.
Hey man relax, you’re all riled up over content from months ago.
So what’s with the rolls now? Are scrubs still able to roll front or back and spam DPs or throws? Is it punishable now as well?

Just want to say thanks Extravagant and the peanut gallery for giving me a good laugh.
These last 6 pages were golden.
There are still plenty of people in the FG community who still think sfxtk sucks because of chain combos. Heck, there are people who actually play the game that think chain combos are what “ruined” it for everyone else. That didn’t suddenly go away, and I’ve heard it more than enough times.
There are still plenty of people in the FG community who still think sfxt sucks because they want it and try to play it like it is SSF4, while failing miserably in the process.
