I just read the spoilers, the anime most definitely needs to diverge from that part. It’s clearly an attempt to extend the arc longer than it needs to be. While this is somewhat in character it’s still fuckin stupid

Honestly, I doubt they adapt the manga exactly, whenever they do bring DB back so I am not worried. It will just be like most concurrent manga and anime in that they are their own things.
I like alot of things about the current arc so I hope they adapt it, but that part right there needs to be left out entirely. The anime adaption should be loosely based

Moro is an example of why you make sure they are a competent writer. Almost everyone starts off wrtiing some form of fan fiction, its a matter of if they have the talen, drive or desire to move past it and if the people hiring them have higher standards then typical fan fiction writing.
Toriyama and Toei dont have those standards cuz Toriyama really doest care about Dragon Ball like that anymore, and Toei just wants to cash checks.

Not really, Toriyama actually hates Son Goku and would kill him off for good if they let him.
But wish making is a thing and death is such a revolving door that a character death lost all meaning.
Honestly the show property needs to end with Yamcha waking up from a bad dream, Yamcha is actually the strongest their is, he killed Goku back in the DB days, he killed Vegeta the moment he set foot on Earth. Whole thing on namek never happened, the Android/Cell Saga was over before noon, Boo was a joke and Yamcha is married to Bulma.
Yeah Toriyama doesn’t really give a fuck about the story and would have walked away from the franchise except it makes him stupid amounts of money. It is probably more the editorial team behind the show that cares more for the franchise.

Goku in Super is Not a good person. He risked the lives of multiple universes to have fun on the off chance he can use a wish to bring them all back. He antagonized other galaxies fighting for their lives so he could fight strong people.

Goku in the trunk’s saga actually did not hold back he wanted to end rose and zamasu but got beat. It was a good depiction of how overconfident and cocky goku and vegeta had become and it costing them when they could not overwhelm zamasu
Goku in the ToP arch was a heel. He was the cause of the whole thing and acted like a dick about it and thought his friends would have no problem fighting with the stakes like this because he assumed everybody just loved to fight.
Goku in Z was still heroic despite dumb shit in z like giving cell a senzu bean he still had a goal to save the world.
Super depicted Goku as a self indulgent and selfish. Think about all the times he fucked up King Kai’s house
This was how toriyama wanted goku to be seen. As a selfish idiot. And super knocked it out of the park. I think because toriyama took direct participation in the show and the movie his vision for who goku is came across really well.

The issue is the Dragon Balls and how easy is now to gather. Why care about super villain killing everyone (Super Buu)? Just wish them back. You got Earth destroyed? Gather Namek’s balls and wish it back. Like you pointed out, Goku gets more excited about “fighting strong guys” than other people’s safety. Something that was still kinda present until Namek saga in DBZ. End of Cell saga Goku rather stay dead lol cause he wanted tk get stronger should show his true interests and motivations. Fuck his unborn son and wife (she had Piccolo anyway)
