I was thinking of re-buying this game after it was stolen from me, and I was wondering if there was any footage of the team I plan on using once I get this game again?
Dudley and Balrog are two of my favorite SF characters, and I want to see how well they work together.
Charge characters are a bit weird in this game. The combination of a charge character and a non charge character usually results in low synergy because of all the tag combos that’s involved. But i can’t speak for you because i don’t know your level of skill
As long as you like Balrog in this game (I don’t), Dudley actually has pretty good synergy with tagging in Balrog. Balrog is one of the few characters that can combo a jumping heavy attack off a tag canceled machine gun blow which leads to really big combos.
I like Balrog in this game. I think he’s way better than people think. His footsies and pressure are good, he has a good AA headbutt and a scary overhead. Decent damage. He’s just a well rounded character.
I’d like to play him but my execution sucks -he’s not really execution heavy I’m just not used to charge characters I think. Bison and Blanka are much easier to use than Balrog imo.
Is his pressure good? You say he has a scary overhead, but it’s probably the most easily blocked overhead in the game. It’s very blockable on reaction, everyone has practice at blocking it from SF4, and it’s unsafe on block. It requires charge to do and comes from basically the same set-up every time as part of a block string canceled off a crouching strong or whatever. His overhead is actually worse than it was in SF4, since in SF4 the EX version had armor frames, which meant you could use it to blow through defensive pokes and get a combo.
On top of that he’s a mediocre tag partner. He doesn’t have any good set-ups for a tag cancel.
I think he’s the opposite of a well-rounded character, he’s a mid-range turtle like Bison, but unlike Bison he doesn’t make a great partner. Bison has nearly everything Balrog has and a faster walk speed, and he’s great at setting stuff up for his partner. Balrog is harder to jump at, but Bison has way, way better escape options - probably the best suite of escape options in the game.
