Quite a few things…

  1. I track my calories with www.livestrong.com/myplate. If you click “calorie goals” on the right with the bar graph, you can set it to have you lose x amount of weight per week. When I first started, I had it at 2lbs/wk. After I dropped 40, I put it at 1. Now I have it staying the same.
  2. I got the advice of drinking water and limiting your sodium intake will drastically drop the water weight in your body. I dropped 30lbs in January alone, and the only change I did to my diet was that I ate less canned and frozen foods, replaced them with fresh foods, and drank water with every meal instead of anything else.
  3. After I dropped that initial 30 and started to feel a LOT better, I started going for a 20-minute walk after work every day… Now I do a plyometrics routine & a 3 mile run and takes me about 1:15 after work every day, come home and eat dinner, shower, relax. The key is to start small. I also started doing 10 pushups every morning… Now I do 20 pushups, 10 pullups, 20 jump knee tucks (See p90x plyometrics videos), 50 squats, and 50 jumping jacks. Again, I started small, and add things in as they become too easy.
  4. Don’t diet. Diets don’t work. You have to find the foods you enjoy and keep track of how much you eat. You know what I ate for dessert the other day? 2 6" dutch cocoa cookies with whipped cream and chocolate chips in between then like a giant fucking oreo. You know what I didn’t do that day? Eat sugary shit, sans the blueberries in my oatmeal for breakfast. It’s really not what you eat, but how much you eat when looking to lose weight. For overall health, it’s definitely what you eat as more of a factor. Avoid (high amounts of) sodium, trans fats and red meats. Those three things will make you an unhealthy motherfucker. You can eat steak, but have a 6oz portion, and accompany it with half of a baked sweet potato and some greens. You can have black bean soup, but skip the bread bowl and side of tortilla chips, and replace it with an apple (Talking about a Panera thing here).

Biggest tip I give anybody… It’s OK to cheat. It’s NOT OK to be like, “well, I cheated today, so I’ll go back to it tomorrow”… No, it’s better to be like, “Oh, I had fruity pebbles for breakfast, I’m going to put some avocado and tuna together on a slice of sprouted wheat bread for lunch, and a side of apple slices and a glass of skim milk”

Normal daily diet:
Breakfast:
1/2cup oatmeal w/1/2 cup blueberries
6oz plain greek yogurt
coffee, nothing in it or a black tea.

Morning snack:
1/4 avocado
4oz baby carrots + 2tbsp peanut butter (Natural shit. You see anything except peanuts in the ingredients, it’s not peanut butter)

Lunch:
Varies, typically about 300-400 calories and 30g protein. Today was a bowl of black eyed peas and onions and PB on sprouted wheat bread. I didn’t have a morning snack, so I put up quite a bit more calories for lunch. About 550.

Afternoon snack:
Depends if I’m hungry or not, but typically it’s either 1oz of dark chocolate (keeps me going through the end of the day), a Clif Bar if I had a smaller lunch, or some fruit like an apple and banana. I need that sugar rush…

I go home and workout.

Dinner:
Along the lines of what you see in that FB picture… Salmon or tempeh or tofu… steamed veggies - no corn… either quinoa, barley salad with cucumbers, or baked sweet potato.

Dessert: depends on how I feel and if I’m craving anything.

I also drink 1/2 - 1 gallon of water per day.

Total around 1900 calories for the day.

Chicken has too much tampering - growth hormones, antibiotics, steroids, etc.

Vegetables.

Legumes.

Fruits.

Oatmeal.

Pasta and rice, in decent portions.

Eggs (the ones that stipulate no hormones, etc).

Whole grain breads and bagels.

Coffee is my boo.

Don’t you know? Everyone on internet has 8+ inch.
