Ocean dubs, for me, are kinda mixed. I love them because Vegeta’s voice is perfect. I hate them because just about every other voice is better in the Funimation cast.
I have no problem watching subs. They generally are, on the whole, better. However, with dubs you get hilarious quotables, and that’s something I can’t pass up.
No. The American voices are workable, but the Japanese voice perfectly captures the character.

I wouldn’t even care if they put the Garlic Jr. Saga as Season 4. I mean, every so often, I’d be admiring my collection and then I’d notice that I don’t have Season 4 and get upset.

I just had a thought. You all know Son Gohan was a beast around the Cell and Buu sagas…imagine how much MORE badass he’d be if he had been trained in the Kame Sennin style instead of Piccolo’s undisciplined style…he’d basically be a second Son Goku, but with his own moveset.
Piccolo is hardly undisciplined. His style is different, but also effective. Goku has the upper hand because the story demands that he always attains a ridiculous amount of power in order to save the day in the nick of time.
Remember, Kamesennin himself was outclassed before DBZ even began.

Gohan did and would have continued to be more powerful than Son Goku if he would have continued to train… The problem was he stopped for College because Chi-Chi was a stupid bitch and thought that being a badass on a universal level was < being earth-smart.

I really wish they would continue the series… I still havn’t watched GT, but I heard it was rather butchered and wasn’t written by Toriyama anyways, so it doesn’t “really count.” (is that true? I can’t remember anymore…)
I remember there was all those rumors about DB-RT or some shit like that which was supposed to be a new series, but it was all bullshit and never panned out. I suppose it’s good that Toriyama doesn’t want to whore/milk the series (nevermind all those video games they release), but it’s such a great cast of characters and stuff…
Oh by the way - anyone remmeber the Quake Mod a long time ago that was being developed based on DBZ called BidForPower? It looked so fucking awesome, and I believe when the rights to DBZ were sold to … VIZ? Or whoever owns it in the US? They totally shut them down and the whole thing died out =/ Too bad…

yeah, I was on the Bid for Power forums. That place was one of the most annoying forums in the history of the internet. It was hell to be there on a 56k connection due to them apparently having no limit on signatures…some people had whole fight scenes animated in flash or something, and embedded into their “sig”…or the sig was big enough to nearly be a desktop wallpaper, or sometimes it actually had sound effects…terrible. Imagine trying to load a page on 56k at the time, with 90% of the members having that kind of nonsense going on.
I became more and more annoyed with these people, as they were the typical DBZ fans that give most anime “geeks” such a bad name(*always permanently latched onto Japan’s cock, going on and on like anything from japan, especially anime…can do no wrong, as it is perfect and magical, and if you “accidentally” use the reasonable-sounding “Krillin” instead of “KUILLLIILILILILILIIUEELLLIEILIILIULILUIULUILUILGHN” absurdity, you’re just some “stupid dubbie”, etc. etc. etc. I truly hate these types of people.) Heh, the real shame of being a DBZ fan sometimes…is realizing what kind of other people are typically in the fandom. Back in the days when it was “cool” to hate the show, it almost made one want to be “in the closet” about liking DBZ.
…oh and yeah,they had to change all names and appearances of characters. Also, the game was taking forever to come out, and I didn’t even have a PC/Windows machine anyway…so I eventually just gave up on it. Fast forward to now, and we finally have legitimately released good DBZ games with Supersonic Warriors from GBA and the Tenkaichis.(*I wasn’t much of a fan of Budokai)
-I still think Goku is such a stupid-looking goofball of a character, and he is quite annoying. It’s odd/interesting when you enjoy a show, but hate the main character. Since DBZ was the first case of this situation for me, I’ve dubbed this “DBZ Syndrome”, or “Goku Syndrome”. Naruto suffers the same problem…great, entertaining show…but the main character is an annoying little shit, and every other character on there is much more cool and interesting.

You can still get the Bid For power with the DBZ characters and it’s quite a lot of fun if you are lanning with friends.
In regards to DB:GT, Toriyama had nothing to do with it but has been quoted to say that it was the “general direction” that he would have taken the series. Overall its not EXTREMELY BAD, has some good fights. If you look past some of the ridiculousness of the plot its enjoyable at least, and the animation is really good as well.
