Looks like 18 wasn’t taking the fight seriously. Probably still holding back because at the time she thought it was Mighty Mouse and didn’t want to kill him. It wasn’t until Goten and Trunks went SS and shot a ki blast at her when she figured out who it was. After that I remember she ended the fight pretty fast and the two kids flew off after getting DQ’d.

Re-watched the DBZ special and Table’s voice is the same as Ichigo’s from Bleach. Found that pretty funny, it fit the character nicely since Table was pretty weak compared to everyone else and Ichigo’s a hardcore jobber.
I don’t see why people give Vegeta such a bad rap for letting Cell go Perfect. He should actually share co-responsibility with Krilin, who refused to blow No. 18 up because he put that pussy on a pedestal, and could have done so without Vegeta knowing WTF happened. Then when he realized Cell was going after No. 18, he ended up being bitch slapped anyway.
i feel vegeta did a great job of being his ol’ self. i for 1 am not mad at all for what he did. and has anyone noticed that vegeta’s best fights are when he gets his ass kicked. he’s my favorite character and i don’t mind seeing him getting whipped no and then.
nah, the whole gohan thing was building up since the start. the whole gohan gets super strong when he gets mad. we saw glimpses of it here and there, but not his true potential. and then he got unleashed. gohan was the perfect person to kill cell.
gohan was only a bitch because he was raised that way. he was the most realistic character in my opinion. everyone pretty much personality wise stayed the same the whole series but gohan, he matured and progressed in personality. goku stayed the same…all the humans def did, vegeta just became a more toned down version. piccolo changed very early in dbz and stayed that way. gohan personality kept developing til about early buu then he stayed that way for the rest of dbz and gt.
oh? but i dont remember them saying that it stopped, i thought the boost was like an RPG, think I remember vegeta saying that after every battle they get stronger, thought the more beat up you were the greater the boost. like goku vs frieza, he cleaned frieza’s ass without being near dead and came back a few days later twice as strong if not more
nah wasnt infinite, cell came back after near enough dying (saiyan blood) = zenkai boost with his return
yeah who knows about that fight, maybe she was trying to adjust her power enough to not kill everyone spectating, i dunno but i believe she was more confused than beaten
repeat: nah wasnt infinite, cell came back after near enough dying (saiyan blood) = zenkai boost with his return
Viewed as a whole, DB/DBZ is about Goku carrying the torch until it’s time to pass it down to Gohan, but that doesn’t necessarily make Gohan the most interesting character in terms of the series. Goku–a goofy guy who loves to fight–arguably personifies what Dragon Ball is all about, and Gohan–dead serious, doesn’t enjoy fighting–is antithetical to it.
We could use old Swamp Thing (pre-Alan Moore) as an example. The arc of Swamp Thing is Alec Holland’s quest to regain his humanity. Yeah, becoming human again is the whole point, but once that happens, the story is over.
It’s common knowledge that Toriyama originally had the Freeza arc in mind as the end of the series. All the major warriors were dead, Goku achieved the absolute peak of his power and died after defeating his greatest enemy ever, and his only son returned to Earth as its reluctant protector. Gents, that is a hell of an ending, and it’s a mixed blessing that the series ended up continuing.
Funny thing is, you can see Toriyama attempting, again and again, to put Goku out of the picture and leave Earth in Gohan’s hands, and having to contrive increasingly ridiculous reasons for him to stick around. Editorial fiat is a bitch.
Also… hell no to a Dragon Ball remake. Everybody’s remaking the shit out of everything these days. Warts and all, Dragon Ball is a great fantasy/martial arts epic, and I strongly doubt it would lend itself well to any attempts to “improve” it. If you want a leaner, faster Dragon Ball, just use the fast-forward button on your DVD remote or skip around in the tankobon.
though on the other end…anime remakes usually are cool interpretations. but dbz has such a unique look to its fights…i just cant see them really cooler without losing wut we remember…maybe in like 30 years they could but not now.
yeah that’s true i don’t see things looking flashier will better the original, the original has way too much character
and for what DB is (based on the legend of monkey king) it’s fantastic to see where a version of the “monkey king” came from and why he was sent to earth. it was very fitting to end at freeza.
what I liked about the Buu saga though was the fact it went THOUSANDS of years in the past to talk about the struggle that gods had.
even though freeza arc was about the enslavement of his race and a few galaxies (i think), the Cell saga was the most personal problem to the whole cast
my personal fave was everything up to freeza’s death. but i still loved watching the rest of DBZ
Seriously tho…when Gohan gets that “you hurt my daddy/piccolo” anger…his power level jumps like crazy. I honestly think cell was stronger when he came back too but, gohans power fluctuates too much to know really.
Edit: wait didnt Vegeta help gohan?? i forgot about that…hmmm.
vegeta made cell blink. that was enough for gohan to win. to this i’m not sure if that blast vegeta fired actually hurt cell, or whether it just tickled him and made him sneeze.
and lol at how the other z losers fired their shit which didn’t do anything to cell
