Goku being naive and Vegeta being arrogant aren’t necessarily plot devices. They’re relevant characterization. These traits were, however, abused pretty heavily, especially as Dragon Ball started to get long in the tooth. Goku wanting to spare Freeza, I accept. Goku wants to spare everybody. Some of his best friends used to be his worst enemies. When Freeza turned out to be irredeemable, Goku did what he had to do. Vegeta sparing Cell is pretty outrageous.
Lol, he’s pronounces like he’s French royalty too.
I forgot how much he looked like a gay biker daddy in GT with the 'stache.
…I also forgot how MILF-y Bulma and Chichi look.
Why does Chichi look better when she’s older?
Vegeta didn’t wanna “spare” Cell. He wanted to fight Cell at his supposed more powerful form, because Vegeta thought he was King Big Dick after training in the RoSaT, and no matter what Cell did, he’d beat him.
He’s always been like that (arrogant). He did it with Freeza, aswell.
“diary of a milf.” bulma is nina hartley and chi chi is ava devine. chi chi had to be cheating on goku cause he was barely home(too busy training, saving the earth and dying) and women have needs :wgrin:
Yeah, I’m aware that Vegeta allowing Cell to live was not intended as a long-term arrangement.
Point is, Vegeta’s arrogance towards Cell was pushing the boundaries of ridiculousness. With Freeza, it made some sense. Vegeta had a personal stake in it, and not to mention, it had taken the combined efforts of all the Z-senshi (the ones who weren’t dead, at least) to take him down back on Earth. So he had yet to be truly humbled in one-on-one combat.
The whole “let Cell reach his perfect form; gee, won’t it be fun to slap him around once that happens?” thing was on the verge of self-parody.
I’m just gonna disagree with you, and state I feel it was perfectly within character.
Could Vegeta even have killed Cell, though? I don’t recall Vegeta ever really being too adept at creating super-powerful energy blasts, which would’ve been necessary to completely kill Cell.
He was far more powerful, and completely capable of obliterating cell at that point.
Galick Gun? Big Bang Attack? Hell, a good ol Ki Blast could would have done it, due to the difference in their power.
If he’d have cut loose with the Final Flash just a little earlier, he could have done it.
Come to think of it, all of the real fighters embarrassed the shit out of themselves during the whole jinzouningen/Cell arc. In the end, the fucking schoolboy had to show everyone how it’s done.
But that was never really Vegeta’s thing, is what I mean. Goku even says that Vegeta has shitty finishing moves when he was fighting him in Majin form.
^lol what?? im not to familiar with the buu saga but last time i checked vegeta killed waaay more ppl than goku. So how does his finishing moves suck?
What was that attack he did on kui on namek? That shit was hot.
Edit: this
Final Flash maybe.
I mean he was fighting Cell in his second form, so i guarantee he could’ve finished the job and outright killed him.
yeah vegeta coulda killed cell…and cell knew it thats why he got baited by cell to allow him to go to his final form.
vegeta blew up planets
speaking of which, could the humans have blown up planets by the end?
Fuck, probably. Everyone is so ridiculous by the end of the series that Kuririn could probably dust off at least a small planet here or there.
destructo disk was serious shit went through anything. i dont remember one villain ever fully blocking that move everyone got cut or dodged it.
yamcha and chousu are the only ones i cant see blowing planets up. everyone is game…saiyans obviously except future trunks …i never saw any move that was really strong from him…planet destroying strong.
Well, fuck, apparently no one remembers the part where Goku says that. I think he was in a cave or something, while Vegeta kept doing his biggest attacks and not really phasing Goku. It’s probably because Vegeta has never outright decimated a strong enemy completely, but he probably could’ve finished Cell.
And shit, Yamcha could probably destroy a planet with each bounce of his Spirit Ball, considering Roshi destroyed the moon in Dragon Ball.
depends on who you consider a strong opponent. Lets see…He “decimated” jeice didnt he? At that time Jeice was what the third stronget villian? Frieza > Ginyu > Jeice but, im not to sure on how the ginyu force stacked up. I used to think recoome was the strongest but im not too sure.
Oh yea…he “decimated” Napa, cui, dodoria, zarbon, guldo, recoome, broke burtas neck lol ummm android 19 (all these guys were strong for their period too btw)
The reason why I’m bringing this up is because the blast would have to be ultra-strong AND big enough to make sure EVERY single cell is wiped out. So destroying someone doesn’t necessarily guarantee that. And Vegeta may have not even realized that Cell could regenerate from ONE single cell, at that point.
It hit Cell and did nothing, if I remember correctly.
I don’t understand what you’re getting at. At that time, only two people were capable of ending Cell’s life, and that’s Trunks and Vegeta. They had the power, if they didn’t Cell would have had nothing to fear, and it would have been noted.
And at that time, no one knew Cell could regenerate from a single cell, so that’s a null argument to begin with.
