The problem with CvS2 is that the game was already established, and then God Rugal and Shin Akuma were just tacked onto it. Had it come out on console first, I don’t think there would be a problem with either one of them. For one, they die in like 2 hits, so I’d be happy to fight against them as long as I can avoid Akumas infinite.
The 1 button macro will kill any respect Evo had at all. East Level 3 activations, Surprise 1 button Rushdowns, Instant 1 button Roman Cancels, It’s gonna be a mess.
Even more so when you consider that EVO is used as a SBO qualifier. You think that our reputation with the Japanese is bad now. Wait until they get a load of this shit. they’ll be laughing our poor guys all the way back to the airport. :shake:
so is this macro rule set in stone? its allowed in all games?
Considering the reason given for allowing macros was essentially “Evo is a console tournament and macros are in the console ports,” I think it’s fair to doubt the reasoning ability of the Evo staff.
I guess if that’s all you read about it, i’ll just say that all i read was whining, and we can continue to ignore each other.
I’ve always wondered whether Evo could expand to host Low(er) tier specific tournaments.
You can program one button throws and UOH’s in 3S right?
I don’t know about MVC2, but I do know that macros completely change the way you play Guilty Gear on a pad…
I can’t really think of any Macros you could use with MvC2 that would help very much.
I agree. I’d gladly play against someone using god rugal or shin akuma. They have no stamina. Also, the shin akuma inf. only works on a standing gief IIRC
Macros for dashes can affect Marvel 2 playability and even change some results. Wavedashj is many times a risky tactic nowadays (wavedash below drones or bullets is great if you don’t mess up; if you do you die). With macros, everybody can wavedash at any situation.
One other thing is that people won’tl get any fly/unfly wrong and sometimes this makes a good difference in the game.
However, macros ARE NOT on default Marvel. Unless you let each end every player mess up in training mode, Evo won’t have macros.
And, for the guy who asked, the world tourney for Marvel is ECC. Evo is a tourney where ECC guys come to collect some money. With both Sanford and Justin there, Evo will be a mini ECC with them making the finals.
since Marvel is being run on DC (as far as i know?), setting a macro means sacrificing an assist/another button since there are only 6 buttons to map… i don’t think it’ll help that much
FMJ: why cant i use god rugal?
I’m not familiar with GG, so I have to ask…
I got the following from the tournament rules:
Guilty Gear XX Slash Team Tournament
Game version: Japanese Playstation 2
[]#Reloaded characters, Kliff and Justice are not allowed in tournament play
[]Use of EX, Gold and Shadow characters are not allowed in tournament play
What advantages do the #Reloaded characters, Kliff, Justice, EX, Gold and Shadow characters have that the rest of the cast can’t compete with? Have they been ‘tiered’, or has the game already been established without them? With that large amount of characters being excluded, could it be that they have something to add to the game?
The reason for my initial question is this: I got this sneaky suspicion that a few people may be looking at HSFA for tournament play. I know that I’m not EVER going to enter a tournament, but I enjoy seeing the match-ups, and finding out what works against what. With characters banned, how will others know how to get around their tactics?
Just to get it out of the way, shdow character have infinite meter, creating a lot of infinite blockstun traps, and gold characters are broken to the point of absurdity. Many of them can kill you in 1 hit, or have 8947384 different infinites.
So just cut the arguement down to #Reload, EX, Kliff, and Justice.
They could have something to add to the game, but the community quickly made sure they were banned from tournament play, and if you want to fight them on it go ahead, but i don’t think it’s worthwhile at this point to argue all day with gg players about it.
Well just like slash players quickly made it known that the other characters were not a part of the game they wanted to play, HSFA players, like the HSF2 players before them, are making it known that 1) HSF2A is the preferred mode of play, and 2) There is little reason to ban anything at this point, although the previous bans of shin akuma / shin bison will most likely carry over to this game.
IMHO #Reload characters should be allowed, just like Original characters are allowed in ST. It’s not like they are broken or anything. Plus, its already been established that Slash is not arcade perfect.
What about Evil Ryu and Orochi Iori in CvS2? Just a “console only” kinda ban?
oh man that’s gonna be a mess ain’t it? FRCs especially will be affected by this.
Yeah, Shadows and Golds are auto-broken. Common sense rules them right out.
and now, my totally scrubby opinions
EX i’m iffy on. They’re weird but no one uses them and they, as the name says, are just extra. No opinion.
#R characters: should be allowed. why? they are selectable in the arcade after all, technically. Just on a #R cabinet. :looney:
Kliff & Justice: The jury’s out on these two. If only because no one ever spent any time with with them. Some general fucking around with them suggests that Justice is balanced (lots of damage and movement options, BUT is a huge friggin target and takes extra damage) but Kliff is broke (small, takes Chipp damage but has huge damage combos out the wazoo, so a fight with him always ends fast no matter who wins).
then again, i’m just a scrub with a simple love of the game.
program lp + hp so you have 1 button dash.
and yes, i know its an assist sacrifice, but a well worth sacrifice.
Um, #reload Eddie and Sol need to stay the hell home on Evo day.
N
Slash Sol needs to stay the hell home on Evo day. He’s retarded.
