Is the Street Fighter movie worth watching?

You’d have to be pretty drunk to think so.

Compare anything anybody does in the entirety of MK to anything that Raul Julia does in SF. There is no comparison. GAAAAME… OVAAAAAH!

nope MK stars a strong male asian lead who speaks perfect english and gets a girl. i also saw him throw what appears to be some left/right hooks during the excellently choreographed fight scenes, so even though he does kung fu, he also does boxing. this is probably the best movie role an asian guy is going to get in holllywood aside from harold and kumar and better luck tomorrow.

like seriously i’m shocked that they did not cast all the females as asian girls, who then go on to suck johnny cage’s white dick, which is what happens in every single hollywood movie while the asexual effeminate asian guy who speaks broken english looks on helplessly.

therefore

BEST

MOVIE

EVAR

What?

I’m sorry, I couldn’t hear you.

ok touche good sir, i meant to say that asian dude’s role MK is among the best that asian dudes are gonna get in hollywood. which is why i mentioned harold/kumar and better luck tomorrow where the asian protagonists beat down their white antagonists without resorting to kung fu and broken english

even with a classic like enter the dragon, note that bruce lee does not get to bang dozens of white girls afterward, whereas with hollywood action movies starring white guys they’re banging left and right. or like last samurai (which i refuse to watch) where tom cruise apparently kills a jap and then bangs his wife repeatedly afteward (CONSENSUALLY), and she even goes so far as to suit him up in her dead husband’s armor.

fuck hollywood

Bruce Lee could have banged the hell out of that girl secret agent and he didn’t.

Badass: banging hot chicks.

More badass: turning hot chicks down because you’re too busy preparing to kick ass.

I saw The Last Samurai in Japan. You can normally hear a pin drop in JP theaters but there were nonstop giggles.

“An obsessive disorder with fighting Ryu”? Scar-less Sagat was the boss of SF1. I didn’t expect a pitch-perfect Street Fighter epic, especially from a comedy, but there was barely anything there to remind you that it was a Street Fighter movie. The Animated Movie was released at roughly the same time as SFTM. How did it manage to make a fair adaptation of SF (even with dropped characters or quick cameos) if there was no material to work with at the time?

agreed, that series was actually really well done

I heard if Brandon Lee was still alive he was going to be the Wachowski’s first choice to play Neo.

Also you should stop watching Hollywood movies altogether and get in on that Asian cinema. And not because Hollywood keeps the Asian man held down which seems to be your biggest problem but because Asian martial arts films > shaky cam 100 cuts per minute of fighting Hollywood junk.

Asia casts white actors in lead roles even less than Hollywood casts Asian leads. Unless you’re Christian Bale then you get to play the white savior in Flowers of War. Typically white guys only get cast as villains who always has his plan foiled in the end. eg. Jackie Chan’s HK movies such as those whites who are run over by Jackie’s hovercraft in Rumble in the Bronx, or David Carradine and his crew of Gwai Lo wrestlers getting owned in True Legend by the cinematic return of Vincent Zhao.

However if your main concern is seeing Asian males get laid then you’re not going to find much of that in action movies. Not because they’re effeminate beta asexuals but because they’re too busy whooping ass to put the pussy on the pedestal. Do you think Tony Jaa has time to fuck Thai hookers when he’s throwing people off four story balconies and tiger kneeing them through drywall? Sex is a tertiary need for these heroes, ranking behind compiling kill death ratios of over 9000 to 0 and foiling the white man’s plans so badly he has no choice but to abandon his dreams of marrying an Asian girl and run back to whatever Western country he crawled out from.

Doesn’t mean Asian guys never get the girls, there are plenty of teen romance/chick flick/dramadies starring pop stars out there to check out. They all fucking suck though. Like Jaycee Chan (Jackie Chan’s son) stars in those types of movies and doesn’t perform any action or fight scenes. Jackie’s so disappointed by him he’d rather claim Will Smith’s son as his own.

That must be glorious. It almost makes me forgive their weird porn.

I couldn’t hear you over all the crunching.

the movie is glorious, everyone should watch it.

I may be alone in this but the 1st MK flick makes my list of all-time favorite movies. Great cast, fight scenes, presentation, direction, soundtrack, etc. We’ll never see a better live-action MK effort thats for sure.

And while Street Fighter failed as a “Street fighter” movie(besides Bison), i still enjoy it because its such a live-action G.I.Joe knock-off. Only its hella better than the actual G.I.Joe movie we got years later haha.

Plus i’m a JCVD fan and as far as his movies go, it was Decent.

Yup. For a live-action comic/game series, it is above average with nice work put into it.

the movie is terrible, everyone should watch it.

The same guy that wrote SF helped write Die Hard.

Also, I am pretty sure they wrote the movie backwards. Like, they came up with the scene of them all freeze framed in their costumes, fist pumping into the air, and then were like “Okay shit. How do we get to this point?”

I was talking about SF2. If you want to bring SF1 into it, that would be worst. All we knew about Sagat in SF1 was that he was the strongest fighter in the world.

The Animated Movie made a lot of stuff up for plot purposes, which subsequently was added into future games and became canon because Capcom loved the movie so much. The secret field stage in Alpha 2 during Ryu/Sagat fight was because of that movie and specifically paid homage to it. Hell, Capcom even made a game based ON the movie that was only released in Japan. Don’t get it twisted, modern SF plot elements weren’t around before they were introduced in TAM.

Yeah, except only American summer blockbusters get released on time (if they make it to theaters at all).

EDIT: Except Depp and DiCaprio movies. Maybe I’ll get to see Django Unchained.

Steven DeSouza, who wrote Die Hard, actually directed Street Fighter.

Random fact: the guy that wrote the script for the animated movie was also an associate producer for the live action movie.

So Capcom had input in the project, but they just didn’t give a fuck. Or maybe the studio told them to stand aside and don’t say anything while they watched Chun-Li report the news.

hah i meant to put write/direct but my brain is all stupid

I love this movie. It’s so bad.
