Is online laggy?

There’s no problem for me, I’m lucky thankfully.

This was a good year for fighting games to make a resurgence with the casual crowd. Thanks to shitty online support I think that boat has pretty much sailed. At the beginning of the year my friends were finally starting to get hyped but every other game that came out had horrible online play. So they’ve all pretty much written off the fighting genre for another 10 years.

THANK YOU EVERYONE INVOLVED IN DEVELOPING THESE GAMES WHO RUSHED ONLINE PLAY!!!

The netcode is horrendous. Side stepping is usually not an option and you can fuckin forget any of Alisa’s 50 damage+ juggles unless the player is next door. I never thought I’d be asking for SCIV netcode again, but at this point it would be an improvement…

man, i refuse to believe anyone saying they are having GOOD matches. tekken online is just not entertaining at all. horrendous at best. i have yet to have a good match, where when i hit 3+4 it comes out faster than 2 seconds after i hit it. shits terrible. looking forward to that patch though, and namco doing the best they can to create some type of moderate experience at least. them bars dont mean shit. i thought i had one today, and then i was fooled once the match began. lol.

Like I tell people i’ve talked to since I played online friday:

"It’s sad i’m finding better connections in ranked than player matches

there’s so much wrong with the above statement that I just can’t leave practice and ghost data.

That actually made me cringe a little…

That would be the case yet all the consoles are supposed to have the same performance level and are able to handle the explosions. Passing data via the network stack doesn’t hog up the processor, Raven’s 3+4 does yet it is VERY rare compared to arcade.

I know what the problem is with this game and not all of the problems are from the game itself:

I know there are people out there who have terrible connections, torrenting/downloading or playing on a saturated network because the same problems are experienced in Team Fortress 2(PC) and Left4Dead (PC)

I would love to see someone post a thread from players in Japan experiencing latency issues. I highly doubt you find one since their infrastructure makes US connections look like Dial-UP.

TL;DR: If you want a good connection friend people who are in your region.

Tekken 6 online is just random. It’s laggy because it connects you to random people. It’d be better if it were more like SF IV where you can actually choose who you want to play against and shows the connection bars.

Playing Tekken 6 online is like playing someone with 1-2 bars in SF IV. But sometimes you do find non-laggy connections but like I said, it’s random.

Trying to juggle with Devil Jin’s or Asuka’s 1+4 is mad gay with lag. Actually trying to juggle with anything sucks playing against a laggy person online. If you get used to it, I’d imagine it could definitely mess you up playing offline.

Playing with friends online is as good as SF IV at least. Unlike the King of Fighters XII where it just lags like a bitch no matter what type of connection anyone has.

while Japan’s already smaller and of course easier on the connection (clearly it’s easier for online on them because Japan isn’t as big as America) they also know not to sit there downloading/surf the net/other random shit tying up the bandwitch when they’re playing something like this online. Whereas in america, where people will be on live/PSN, their parents/kids will be on the internet surfing/watching youtube vids/downloading or torrenting crap and not caring what the others in their house are doing. I see it enough when I lived with my stepmom and dad and pissed me off as they’re already internet connection stupid.

clearly it’s not only the game’s fault (most of it is obviously.) but even with people who have nothing else running are having problems.

Yeah because their opponent is running everything else or have a router that drops packets

<MarkMan23>tekken community
<MarkMan23>my work is done
<MarkMan23>i put in my work
<MarkMan23>a patch is coming
<MarkMan23>expect it soon

Repost, but HAIL MARKMAN!!!

man I hope this is true

Color me skeptical. I’ve heard that Namco’s repeated tries to fix DRO also ended in failure.

unfortunately, this is true. i can’t land a single juggle. not one juggle. not one. d/f 2 comes out…then ANYTHING after it is extra slow and misses all day. which is then punished by jababababajabajabajabajab.

jabjabjab all day.

i’m not going to complain about the game. its a great game, offline…a few things that irk me, tho:

-i’m not having a good time online at all. fine, i’ll play offline. cool.
-loading between fights online and off. fix this. cut this in half at least. please.

the rest of the shit i don’t care about. i don’t care about online scenario campaign. i would like some better custom options for alisa (and other characters) but if that doesn’t happen, so what. i would like endings in offline arcade mode but thats not going to happen. fine, whatever. i would like alisa to have an ending. thats not going to happen. cool.

just please fix loading times and online matches.

Not laggy (or as laggy) now that the patch is out. I’ve actually had OK-ish matches against red bar connections (but I wouldn’t recommend it). Green bar matches are a thing of beauty, like a brazilian booty.
