Last time Namco embedded onling capabilities into a game, it totally failed (SCIV). I’m just wondering if Namco finally found a way for their 3D fighting games that utilizes the Z-axis to be lag free online. Anyone reviews guys? I just watched the gametrailers.com review, and so the basically said it’s pretty bad. Here’s a link: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-tekken-6/58199?type=flv
EDIT: Ah shoot, this probably belongs to the “Fighting Games Discussion” sub-forum… >_>
Havent encountered lag too much but i’ve only played in players match since the ranked match wont let me synch up with my opponents and now i have 4 losses… wtf?! because i cant connect my record gets soiled lol… I wanted to earn those losses myself.
I played two ranked matches earlier on XBOX live. And holy crap is it laggy. It makes the laggiest SF4 matches look playable. I managed to win only because nobody wanted to block low, but I don’t see how you can get juggles off unless you are psychic and know if your launcher actually connected.
It has potential to be cool. It defaults at best of 5 rounds which is a bonus! I look forward to customizing my characters, but only if the lag issue is fixed. This is totally unacceptable so far. But maybe the other people were on bad connections, I really couldn’t tell. It didn’t have a way to read the other persons connection like SF4, at least I didn’t see anything, I could have missed it, I was more focused on the gameplay.
Yeah I only have a 360 and my experience has been surprisingly good. I didn’t stay online all day like an online warrior but I just looked for strong connections and got strong connections 2 times in a row. I could do all of my starndard Lars combos with ease (I can’t do the high level Japanese stuff offline any ways) and could block and tech throws on reaction well enough for online play. The lag was at 2 or 3 frames at worse. Like if it was any better I would have been sitting next to the guy.
There was only 1 person out of the 3 people I played that I suffered lag with and it was mostly because his connection went down to 1 bar suddenly before his connection quit. The game allows you to see in real time as you’re fighting if someone’s connection is screwing up so there’s no SFIV surprises when a 5 bar connection goes through the tubes. You’ll see the icon immediately change to a 2 or 1 bar connection during the fight so you know you or your opponent’s connection is dying. I’m running on Verizon Fios so my connection is super fast and just like any other online game…only faltered with the one guy who had cheap internet or lived 1,000s of miles away from me.
It’s still sad that the bad rep the online play has gotten so far will probably keep some people from buying the game. It’s a shame cuz it’s really great to finally be able to play this great series online. Especially considering the experience I had with the hour or so I was online was great. When I do more player hopping I might have a different story but the jist was that if I found a green connection I had good times.
Early reports seem to indicate PS3 being fairly smooth and 360 being laggy as fuck. Theoretically they should have the same netcode, so I don’t know what that’s about.
Some characters are basically UNPLAYABLE online. Good luck trying to get egwf out when their’s 4-5 frame lag on green bar games. I’ve been racking up win streaks by spamming hellsweep because you basically have to predict a low in order to block it.
Is this worst than KoFXII? Maybe not, but it ain’t much better.
and tell Namco their netcode fucking sucks. MISHIMAS ARE FUCKING UNUSABLE ON THIS PIECE OF SHIT. Actually, they aren’t. I’m spamming u+4444 and winning because the lag makes it impossible to block.
My second day online has been a little less laggy. It’s still a slight delay from when I press the button till when the character reacts. But it’s greatly improved. Hopefully it gets better because it really makes SF4’s online look amazing.
Punishing whiffed or blocked moves is still dangerous to attempt making me still hate it. And when I juggle with King the only ones I can get safely is 1,2, 2+4. Anything else I’ll whiff because of delays.
Been horrible for me on both XBOX and PS3. Picked up it for both assuming I’d play offline with the PS3 and online with the XBOX. Lo and behold both versions are garbage. I was able to have decent matches with friends within my city. Even with someone else with a green connection it had massive delay. I hear Namco is supposed to be fixing this? Anyone else heard about it?
The netcode as it is makes it impossible to use most of the stages in the game. I can only get smooth matches on City after Dark and the bottom part of the Cemetary stage, and that’s with players within my region.
Regardless, if you have a strong offline scene, you should stay far away from online as possible, unless you’re really bored and want to piss people off with shenanigans.
