Is my PC too slow to run PCSX2 or is this normal?

is this normal?
with speed hacks turned off, 3d games like Tekken 5, King of Fighters 2006, Soul Calibur 3 give me just around 50 fps…

pcsx2 1.2.1
GSDX 5875 MSVC 18.00 AVX 0.1.16 (gsdx 32-avx-r5875)
Direct3D 9 hardware
Native
rest all settings off

PC:
CPU: i5 3330 3GHZ
GPU: Geforce GTX 650 1GB DDR5
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 RAM
MOBO: Gigabyte H61M-DS2 DVI

it’s capped at 50 FPS? Are you running PAL copies?

Check out http://wiki.pcsx2.net/ for game settings and to see if there are emulation issues.

no it isn’t coz when i turn on speed hacks it goes above 60fps and their all NTSC…

Oh well you probably just need to turn some of the speedhacks on to get them playable. That wiki will help you out for settings most likely.

but is it possible to get 60fps without speed hacks? coz i want to use the netplay version and that doesn’t allow u to use speed hacks when on netplay:

I think it’s your brain that’s too slow. Jack that shit up with a PS720++++++ and you’ll be flying faster than 60 fps!!!

u ought to use a PS720 on ur brain!

Haha, it was just an in-joke.

Check that wiki, I bet there aren’t many PS2 games that are playable without speedhacks. If you can run Tekken 5 at 50FPS, maybe try the PAL version and see if it’s smooth.

Running the PAL version at 100% speed compared to like 83% speed would be better. Although I’m not really sure if it scales like that…

Yeah PS2 emulation still probably has a long way to go. Have you tried lowering resolution settings and extra effects and the like?

like i said above resolution: native and other setting turned off

How was I supposed to know what Native meant?

At native res it shouldn’t be so taxing. Do as @pzlate mentioned and check the database for best settings. Something is probably wrong in your config because I recall PCSX running pretty good and I have a much weaker PC.

I remember those Namco games being pretty buggy, but yeah, I was able to play games at full speed with some speedhacks enabled with an E8500 dual core. This was all 4+ years ago though.

Also that build you’re running is like 3 years old, I wonder if you could take the new plugins from the latest build and use them in the old version to see if if things run better.

already checked the database and they said to use speed hacks
