Is KoF XII really that bad?

Just want to say as a complete KOF scrub, that I think this is a cool game with tons of appealing characters and a solid game engine that I can see myself getting serious about and playing for a long time. Just wanted to put my non biased opinion out there.

However, shitty netcode but I trust they can fix that.

This is a relevant post, because like him I’m brand new to KOF, and I think alot of people are trying this game in light of street fighter 4’s success. I think most people getting into the series just now are realizing what an awesome engine this game has. SNK/Ignition needs to realize this and get this patch out ASAP, this is a great opportunity for the franchise to grow if they can perfect the netcode.

Here’s an explanation for the netcode from the KOFXII Facebook page.

Saw this on Facebook: " Found out who SNK Playmore employed for thier netcode use in KOFXII. Its not from SNK Playmore themselves, they employed a Japanese network provider named GameSyncSoftwares. You see thier name during the opening splash pages. They are big in Japan and mainly provide thier network for Japan only PS2 online games. This system is fine in Japan where they get such great ISP bandwidth not like the states. So I bet the Japanese are playing fine."

Sick fighting engine, but horrid netcode.

This is exactly what I was thinking, with Japan size being so small and internet interface much better than the states. This 3rd party company severely lack any foresight.

I know most of you have been playing these games before they even had good online netcode, but the fact is for the game to be accepted by the masses it needs good online in this day, and age. It’s impractical for some people to have to go out, and find offline comp when they want to spend their afternoon enjoying a game for a few hours.

I’m pretty disappointed with what I’m hearing about the netcode cuz its a stellar game.

It’s true that you can enjoy this game without good online, but not for most.

Tanner: I do agree with you, but there are also some complaints, which aren’t very legitimate as well…

Sure like most people the only guys i can play online are in my local part of the world. This sucks ass other games like SFVI and Blazeblue i have no problems playing people in any part of the world. WTF SNKP FIX this shit.

Off topic, but I find it hilarious that LeadZeppelin hasn’t changed his sig yet. Takes me back to the good ol’ days when SF4 was an impossible dream that would never, ever happen.

My major issues with the game are mostly with the changes within each character. Iori’s been turned into freeman but at least he’s now awful. I don’t know what they did to Andy but they messed up his Hishouken and his heavy arc kick has a weird angle to it. Terry’s missing power dunk didn’t make me too happy considering I’ve mained terry since KoF95. Ive got a few other gripes but all in all I’m enjoying the game a whole lot. Hopefully someone at SNKP realizes that they need to fix up that netcode.

i can’t believe this type of a non-constructive thread has almost 500 posts… all these posts could go towards strats… if u don’t like the game don’t play it… but if u love it like i do don’t wait for online to be fixed… find friends to play with offline and at home practice your character and have fun…

So everyone who doesn’t live in Texas, California, Florida, and New York, we just have to suck it up, huhn? Pff.:lame:

Im still playing the game online and having a good time.

I’m having a good time playing online too.

all my online matches are in slowmo

really bad

last couple of days I’ve had real good online play, if you play yellow only rooms and leave when a red person starts lingering you should be fine. 90% of the yellow games I play run nicely. The nagging issue is that you cant see the connections before you enter a room whuich means it takes a ton of time to actually find a yellow in the first place.

Whoa, SF6? When did this happen…? I must have been napping!

sf4 was always an impossible dream, back then most people knew we would never get a new 2d sf ever again. and its true, sf4 is 3d and isnt as traditional as it used to be. it still plays fairly similar just a lot slower.

I can’t even front…these last couple of matches I’ve been in online have been playable…smooth really.

Maybe I’m gettin lucky I dunno lol

Shouldn’t everyone be in practice mode instead of online anyway. I keep hearing from everyone that KOF is ass. Online play has just started to get better for fighting games. Do any of you players plan on entering tournaments for KOF xii. If I want to get better I’ll have a session in person. SF4 online is not that good as well. I played some fine matches in KOF online. I did want to spend more time in practice mode to better my execution and fundamentals online to me is just a convenience. I remember a time when I was happy to play MKA online for my PS2 (don’t laugh thems was some sad times) Aside from the Elizabeth glitch and the Chen infinite KOF is not a bad fighting game. Were actually lucky we can have patches to fix these things. Anyone ever experience Tekken 5.0 Steve Fox at high level play. Shouldn’t we comment more on the game than the bells and whistles.

I actually haven’t had bad matches for the last few days either…maybe they’re improving things in the background? I know, wishful thinking:shy:
