With the recent tournament that was held at evolution, it seems that A1 characters dominate the game; even Sabre, a respectable member of the community has stated that HSFA is not tournament worthy. Is it time to move on, or is it still too early to tell?
You guys are hateing on it way to early. People are just pissed that they forgot about alpha1 stuff etc. Its not a bad game. Plus they acctualy added new stuff to it, new combos, new game play stuff. Its fun the little ive played of it shrug.
I still maintain the view that we’re only playing this because we’re desperate for something new.
It’s fun, but fun doesn’t necessarily = tournament worthy.
And again, the community at large attempts to shoot itself in the foot in hopes of winning the big race.
Talking about worthiness before a game is broken down and understood is pretty lame. Soon, nothing will be tournie worthy and we can all just go home.

Thing is though, it’s not really a new game but a compilation of old ones. We already broke Alpha 1, 2 and 3 down. That just leaves the new ISM’s. Most of which are quite obviously already broken to some degree.
Couple that with a general lack of enthusiasm from the higher ups of the fighting game community (how many people actually showed to their matches at EVO?), and you have the makings of another CFE.
ah the games are NOT the same. Characters are different in hyper.
With that mindset, might as well stop all MvC2 tourneys since Mags/Storm/Sent always win and it is so broken. Or stop CvS2 tourneys since it usually is Sagat/Blanka something and roll cancels are relied on…
Seriously, the game has barely been out for a while. CE ism notwithstanding, the game does have a lot to offer still. It is very young, and eventually we will see if it is crap or a godsend (i’m in the second group 
). It almost seems like people want this game to fail or something…

In any case, Z-Ism Rose is right. It’s still WAY too early to be judging HSFA at this point. Sure, the brokenness of CE-Ism tends to screw things up, but there’s still a lot of potential left. All the game needs is a few tournaments to help work the issues.
Of course, this is coming from a guy who can count the times he’s played HSFA against human opponents with one hand…
Either way, I’m just glad the A2 and A3 ports are good. I hope people keep playing them seriously regardless of what they think about HSFA.
Unfortunately, HSFA is kinda bleh in alot of ways.
#1- SFA3 Vism doesn’t really work: it seems that the SFA3 engine is based on Upper for one… and secondly, SFA and SFA2 characters don’t juggle properly. There is absolutely no reason to pick SFA3 Aism or Xism.
#2 SFA2 Customs don’t do nearly the “normal” damage (Chun’s especially)
CE is just broke. Marvel ism just doesn’t do anything for 70% of the cast . Parry ism is just kinda stupid, and the super cancels barely work. And DS ism I don’t know about.
At least in SF2 AE, 99% of the things worked the same. The only obvious difference is O. Sagat. In this game… man. Everything is f’d up.
Why is that most of the people defending the game, are the ones who admit to not really having played it much?
HFSA is tourney material. Every character keeps thier respectable qualities but I do agree that V-ism doesn’t work as good. And so what if the custom combos in Alpha 2 dont do as much damage, it is called balance without it no tournament. CEism is out, no shin akuma or bison, so what is the problem. Just like every game some characters and isms are better. A great Green ism Guy can defeat a great Aplha Guy so it works out to me. It is fine to me! Holla!!!
Mainly i agree with Xenozip. As long the people still play the good versions of A3 (ok, and A2) I really don’t care about Hyper Alpha that much. But it’s very fun to play. I would love to enter a tourney.
I think many people on this evo tourney thought wrong about Hyper Alpha. It’s not like AE were you actually choose you fav chara from older versions and do the same stuff as back then.
Hyper Alpha isn’t ment to be played like that. (as we know that A2 and A3 aren’t the same as the should be in Hyper Alpha) You still can use A2 and A3 in Hyper Alpha 3 but then you have to learn the new stuff. Your hyper A3 Cody isn’t like your A3 Cody. Deal with that. You have to look at Hyper Alpha at a totally different way. Experiment with it and find a new character that siuts you better then the “old” chara that you think you’re playing. I would never play my V-Juni in Hyper Alpha. I would play green Dhalsim or some of those other scary characters. Green Dhalsim is a monster with his long range chains. And not only that alone he get’s AC and pushblock. Yeah. Or I would play some blue character. Just go for it.
But sure, people who thought, yeah I can compete with my original A2 Ken against my friends original A3 Cody, now that won’t work.
only thing that seems broken is CE… DS ism looks fine… DS ism Fei long looks good… and parry ism for Zangeif and T.Hawk feel good cuse of the major damage potenial on their command throws… don’t know about Marvel ism other than sakura being evil sakura lol… but i like it…some should just throw more tournies… i know i will enter…
I think more than that, the 3s torunament shows us 3s isnt tournament ready since you can only play ken, chun or yun to win. I think we should replace it next year with a game of t-ball…and not keep score.
Maybe you are right . In my opinion HSFA suffers from its gameplay .
Explanations :
While being a nice addition to the compilation ,secret-ism totally ruin the game (They are “broken” compare to V,A,and X .)
Some characters got an update for their damage/priorities/etc… while some are fun ,some are really retarded , let’s look at DJ,Sim,A1-Guy ,and so on …
I mean this is not in trying to balance some characters (while other are totally “broken” ) that you will have a balanced game.That’s what I find the most boring in HSFA 
There are many games in one here. What a waste for the community to avoid making rules to make the game tourney viable.
