So tomorrow I’m heading out to WalMart to get some Red and black vinyl dye, but I want to know if it’s possible to dye the buttons as well, and what precautions I should take before I do so. I’m planning on eventually replacing all the buttons with Sanwa parts, but it will be a while, and I was planning on dyeing the base of my stick anyways.
I’m looking to make some red and black buttons to go with this template I just made.
IN THEORY they have vinyl paints that adhere to plastic.
i wouldn’t recommend it, there is acid in your sweat and its probly going to come off no matter what you do.
there is a sale going on at gamingnow.net if you’re looking for new buttons, i have the sanwa mixup vermillion on black buttons and they swap right out and they are awesome. ball tops are on sale too. red semitsu bubble top would probly look sweet. or plain black. or splurge on a red mesh top (i have a couple, they are SWEEEEEET)
I can really only afford either the dye or buttons right now, and I have my lami-label ready and waiting for the base to be dyed before I put it on, just thought I could do the buttons for kicks until I order new buttons (I’m planning on just ordering everything at once, new ball top, buttons, and new stick, so I can save on shipping, but it comes out to almost $60 on lizard licks.)
if you paint them gloss they should be alright. the gloss should protect them. But if you spray paint them you have to make sure you spray very very thin coats. If paint builds up even a little bit on the buttons then you’ll have to start from scratch. And also you probably going to want to wait at least a week after you paint them before you use them.e
