Is it me or is this game really that unbalanced

I’m certainly older than DeNiro was when he shot that scene…

**Edit: **How about that, DeNiro had the exact same age I have now when he acted on Taxi Driver!

Regardless, whenever I see people arguing about character balance in 3S I feel the urge to post the SBO results, I just don’t know why…

Haha. Twelve times? Seems pretty specific! I always thought you and I had great matches. Your Hugo is decent man, a lot of your frustration (as well as mine) may just stem from fucking online. I almost never play online anymore and if I do it’s on GGPO. It’s rage inducing and once you play this game enough it becomes more and more apparent that this game is really only at it’s best in ideal conditions.

It does not need to be said but…

Arcade>Lagless set-up at home>Laggy set-up at home>Old black and white tube TV hooked up to an intermittent power generator during a hurricane>Online

ugh.

every month at least 1 or 2 people who don’t play or care about 3S to come to our portion of the boards and act really snide and clever about the game.
you don’t have an objective. you’re just bored and think you’re going to enlighten someone or prove a point.

My point is proven.

You should be used to snide and clever wannabe’s like me posting here once or twice a month by now, so no big deal, right?

Enjoy the game, but accept it for what it is: unbalanced as fuck!

Someone said recently, Blanka should’ve died in that plane crash

I thought he fell out of the plane. And somehow survived, and somehow turned green…

Yeah that was part of the CAPS and its not in your quick search. If you actually follow 3s you’d know why there’s no 2011 and would leave that out of your list entirely. Do you know who Nuki/Daigo played in the Finals? I’ll let you look it up and watch it and learn about this KFG dude, the Green Ken.

no one who plays the game thinks its the paragon of balance

I honestly don’t care about SBO and 3S enough for that

So, what’s the matter?

The OP was thinking about the game being unbalanced, I stepped in and posted the results of a once-respected tournament proving the game is indeed far from balanced and now you’re saying to me that the game is not exactly balanced, but you felt the need to criticize me anyway, is that it?

ok

Nice talking to you too, now how about that topic with girls and dogs?

Welcome, maybe

Please leave.

It’s not balanced, but it’s not as unbalanced as everyone thinks it is.

Also Ken is the best because he needs no meter to be dangerous and has an answer to pretty much everything. IMO. :coffee:

Well to answer the OP. Yes the game is unbalanced. The best fighting games usually are

Third strike is a beautiful mistake

no ur hbeautiful

from your head to your toes

and i wanna…
move from your head down d-d-down to da-to da floe ahh ahh

everyone here already knows the game is unbalanced, it’s already been gone over a few dozen times

the responses to this topic are “that’s not what the issue is here.” if you’re getting beat by shotos and Chun and you’re guessing forward or 360 like every time on your wakeup, you need to be able to do the math. “I’m just really good at reading people/these matchups are 9-1” is like low tier option select + refusing to see the holes in your game. “block on your wakeup” is advice that has been given to many players here trying to improve. if you ignore the advice and just go on your merry way, well then you don’t really want to improve. and in that case no one should care much what you think of the game’s balance.

fwiw I don’t think geni is awful. we’ve played some close matches, he (she?) has pretty decent execution and is pretty good at parrying out of air situations. uses normals solidly too. but when you tell someone “yo I notice you guess forward on wakeup a lot, block and you’ll probably lose to Chun and shotos less” and they respond “no you don’t understand I’m just really good at reading people” well there’s not much to say.

Why waste your time talking about bad balance when we could be talking about how useless fireballs are or how parry destroys true footsies or how all the new characters are just rip offs of earlier ones or some other ignorant conversation. This is dumb guys.
Feel free to shoot Blanka on site tho.

This isn’t Eventhubs.

is it any surprise that the dude stirring up shit in here has a blanka av???

BLANKA BALL YOUR WAY OUTTA HERE PUNK!

I love 3s to death and play it religiously and I know its unbalanced. its still the most epic fighting game ever though. fundamentals and parrying are true keys to beating good Chuns, Yuns, Maks and Kens. these 4 and Yang are just too good when used properly.

I play with Necro and have since second impact. I happen to be one of the best American Necros and know him inside and out, I also know I have a tougher time against these 4 powerhouses when played by players who know what they are doing and very solid. Necro is mid-low tier and its a hard struggle, but I will continue to get better and improve my parrying to beat these bastard characters.

the reason you ask WHY these characters are best… It all lies in priority. Necro has low priority. Chun, Yun, Yang, Ken, Makoto and even Dudley have strong priority, especially that bitch Chun. Priority is what separates them from the others and puts them so high. its not the supers and I hate when noobs and players that dont know what they are talking about say that. If it werent for their high priority their supers wouldnt be no better than anyone else’s and they really arent. pretty much all characters have powerful supers, but Chun, Ken and the other high tiers can use that cheap priority to get them off easier. example- you try to fierce with Necro (or pretty much anyone else) and Chun does the same, she will always hit over yours no matter, no trade, she wins.

Oh god…
