Is Hulk viable for competitive play?

From my limited knowledge, he seems like a liability. It seems as though people will be completely free to him or completely shut him out. Are there things in his gameplay that make it so he can compete at a higher level? And also, what divides a scrubby Hulk from a skilled one?

Most people are pretty terrified of him at the start of the match (for good reason).

Thing is, it’s really only dangerous if he has assist to get him a full combo off of an air grab.

Good Hulk = Knows when to press H, also understands safe gamma charging.

Bad Hulk = Knows that H is a ground bounce and that gamma charging has a lot of priority.

If you are using Hulk at high level then you should be playing him on point. Meaning you better be very proficient with your anchor. Hulk has to have a team built around him if he wants to get anything done, problem with that is your other two characters need to be able to hold their own.

Cover hulk with beams, drones/missles or projectile assists. Learn to cancel s.M or s.H into gamma charge. Use c.L to open people up after you abuse s.H cancel. Anything to keep you close and attacking. Hulk is a mind game character because with 1 good assist he can kill anyone in the cast. So most people will try to keep distance and punish those who mash H.

Hulk can be played competitivly.

If you’re not playing Hulk like Footblat plays him, you’re doing it wrong. Plain and simple.

Mindfuck the opponent with pure randomness.
