i smack my kids all the time no matter where we are. there’s a difference between discipline and abuse. my kids are 6, 7 and 9. they all know not to act a fool when we are out some where or at some ones house. i can’t say my kids are perfect but they know their manners and how to behave.
You don’t beat the shit out of your kids, but you definitely want to let them know when they crossed the line. Babies don’t learn that fire is bad, until they get burned.
Trust me, you give your kid a good whack (they’re small, and even imaginary pain will terrify them), and they’ll think about whatever they did. Being a rollover as a parent is even worse than beating your kids.
i have a daughter and every once in a while she will get popped for doing somethin that she knows she shouldn’t. But i really don’t like hitting because I see she will try and hit stuff as well, and I don’t want her thinking that hitting is okay. So I just got creative and started doing different things to discipline her. Since her favorite movie is Despicable Me, when she acts up I put her in her stroller and face her in the corner of the room (away form the tv) and put the movie on and turn it up. She flips out and is super salty that she can’t watch her movie and she chills out. I noticed that when I stopped popping her then she doesn’t really act out. Of course kids try to test you, but I just showed her that there are far worst things than getting whooped.
But honestly, discipline should be used in a way to conducive to growth and imparting understanding, and instilling uprightness. Some parents use their children as stress relief, some neglect them, some teach them to do wrong; that obviously is not discipline.
I got a small hit when I fucked up. Guess what? I only got hit maybe twice in my life. I learned quick to respect the man who made the rules. Discipline isn’t just about beating the fuck out of your kid if he fucks up, it’s letting him know you ARE the boss. Different kids respond to different shit. If you’re one of those flower picking pussies who don’t wanna lay a finger on your kid, you might end up with a little smart ass who knows he can manipulate you and take advantage of your sissy ass nature. He might not respond to a stern talking to or taking away his goddam game boy.
Somebody above posted that everybody in prison was smacked around as a kid. I wanna know where the hell you got that information, and I wanna know that you know there’s a difference between a smack on the ass and a full out beating to within an inch of your life.
