Is Hakan Solid in AE ver. 2012?

Hakan’s going to be alright, especially with the HK Oil at start. Being able to DNC rushdown at the start will do him wonders.

Yeah, there shouldn’t be any complaints now. If you’re complaining about Hakan in 2012, then you need to man up son.

link?

your incredibly stupid, a lot of people actually like to use low tier characters because there low tier.

I prefer to be one of the few who use hakan as well.

dats yo opinion dog, as long as i get my point o-cross i tink peeps shud not give a fudge. imo only dorks care bout dem grams no offense snoop doggy dog.

^ You’re on a site where the sole form of communication is through text, and you want to give some bs about how it’s not important to make sure people understand you? Come the fuck on.

Pretty sure this is the video they’re talking about.

cry bout it, you understood what i meant did you not?

Don’t you mean oil up? Hakan’s biggest buff in 2012 isn’t the oiled start imo. It’s the oil dive and super buff. That’s all he needed in current AE. Everything else is a bonus imo.

Yeah I’m also excited to see what the Oil Dives will be like. Plus the Super. I’m hoping it will be a bit easier to catch air Born people on reaction. That might be a bit Much, but it only makes snese in how the Super works. Aside from a few tricks, it’s a bit taugh to land the super. It’s an Air Grab Dammit! Lets see it used properly.

WTH?? you serious?? man ask that guy to write an article on Hakan tactics, strategies, and match ups tell him I’ll pay him in oil!!

OK I feel like a total scrub for asking this, but can you explain why Oilkan’s defense is so good? I know I can feel a difference when I’m blocking as oilkan or drykan, but I still don’t understand why… I mean, yeah he has great footsies and he has a crazy good mixup game (especially on an opponent’s wakeup) but its just really hard to deal with an airborne opponent when Hakan isn’t in he air himself (if the opponent isn’t within st.HP range). And don’t get me started about how Hakan can’t do anything on a meaty jump-in or a close neutral jump…

Focustack Backdach normal cancle incrouchingjab into LP Slide… works well as antiair

You have like a million ways to deal with jumps, especially oiled. Parrying, anti-air normals (notably s.fp f.lp f.mp).

To put it simply, blocking as Oilkan is bad.

Like, really, the last thing you wanna do is block, because blocking takes time. It takes time that you could be using to get oiled. This is good because as a general rule, Oilkan doesn’t -have- to block.

You can backdash, BDNC, focus backdash, focus BDNC, (EX)SPD, and then blocking. There’s a lot of ways to get out of a given situation, and makes Oilkan incredibly difficult to pin down.

Aside from that, Hakan (period, not only oiled) deals with jumps fine. S.fp is a great AA for most jumpins, and if somehow that normal isn’t working reliably against whatever jumpin, f.mp will generally beat it.

Neutral jumps get beat even better. F.lp > ground crossunder, s.fp, f.mp, hell, even LK Oil Dive can function (I’ve been known to actually bait neutral jumps out of SPD tick throws and do oil dive anti air on reaction. -shrug-).

To have a good defense as Hakan, you gotta react to everything.

Don’t forget ultra 2

Tip for parrying: (probably common knowledge) but i found back dashing works better than forward dashing since the cancel window is short on backdash. [Probably just for training room practice] ]that way if your late you dont let the other guys next move in and you hit first… even if he jabs. Focusing is rough against meaty jump ins since you only have a frame (or none?) to do the initial focus attack. Im still practicing it. I try to work in at least one successful parry a round.

Hakan has the moveset, just stuff doesnt come easy for him. So I would say he has no EASY options. Most people still will consider jumping into Hakan ‘free’ unless they are playing an hakan that can pull that stuff off. poor attempts at parrying are worse than blocking.

As long as Hakan is dependant on the oil, no.

That doesn’t even make sense, when Hakan is oiled he’s one of the best characters in the game, simple as.

Exactly! What I meant was that he shouldn’t have to depend on it to be good. You have to admit that sometimes you just wish that he’d stay oiled all the time. For the time being he’s the only character with a crutch.

Let me tell you something; if Hakan was oiled all the time, he’d be too good. There’s a reason why you have to work to get Hakan oiled. Also, it would take away so much fun of using him, and so much of the skill that involves trying to stay oiled. That’s a lot of what defines the good Hakans, to the not so good ones.

Yes, that’s true, with oil Hakan is a beast and staying oiled is something a good Hakan player always keeps in mind. What I’m pointing at is that he shouldn’t go from horrible to awesome, he shouldn’t be THAT bad without oil. I mean, come on, at least make him just a bit better, nothing substantional so that the need for oil is gone but that you at least have a fighting chance.
