Don’t agree with this post. But there are a million like it. I’ll leave my two cents here:
The only problem with Abigail is that he was revealed at Evo, and he isn’t what you’d expect and is very ugly (as person, from a design point I think he is fantastic). People were expecting more from Evo, like a possible super tease or even, maybe, just maybe a hint as season 3. Instead we got him, and peeps don’t like ugly.
Thus all the hate.
Gameplay wise, he is pretty much the most original character to come out in SFV so far besides FANG (another ugly fighter that got a lot of hate but is somewhat beloved now). Laura, Necalli, Rashid, Kolin, and Ed have tropes that have been seen before. Abigail is pretty unique in that regard, though some of his tropes have been seen in Zangief and Hugo.
I’ve been having fun with him despite my losing streak. You need to lay off him. He is here in SFV and you are just going to learn how to deal.
-Terrible audience reception hardly negative to me, “audience” have garbage tastes and no idea what actually is character design
A good 80% of internet peoples believe actual design quality = likeable/good looking
And then proceed say this or that design "sucks"
They can go fuck themselves with a cactus if i can offer my opinion =)
Also seem many peoples changed mind since the first disaster trailer
-Questionable fitting in the game… he’s questionable for being a GIANT, but that was exactly the point that pushed them to go pick an obscure char like Abigail back from FF1, him being the biggest motherfucker of SF/FF universe.
They wanted something able to shock even after Hugo in SF4
Also i think there’s a complementary thing with him and Menat going on, as he’s the strongest, biggest most physical and maybe she will be the smallest, weakest, most energy/ki based… wich is possible given her look and since she’s related to Rose
-Barebones story is true but tbh whatever
Kolin and Ed needed some more story context, Abigail is what we see and what we already know since FF1… he’s a giant ex Mad Gear member who crush small peoples (aka “everyone”). He’s not much more deep than that.
Now they added the car workshop/junkyard thing as we see in the stage, but that’s it. His core concept is just being a mountain that punch fools who can’t dodge him.
Also maybe they will do a second cinematic chapter and give more story to the new chars, in that case he will probably become some villain’s hired muscles and be some good guy’s challenge (Alex? Zangief? Mika?)
Even in that case he will be probably there to offer some cool scenes without be a key story char, kinda like Gief in ASF
Hakan is amazing. You should improve your sense of humour and think that there is more than just Ryus, Kens and waifus. There are freaks too, in this world
