Not confirmed. Just whispers here and there. Japanese whispers that is.
But yeah US needs to consider the possibility and organize some kind of qualifiers if winter tougeki is a reality.

i heard it was going to be originally december or some time around there, but now im guessing maybe feb.
yeah tebbo is right, its the japanese players that are talking about it, so its pretty reliable. Im guessing maybe the big earthquake a few months ago put a delay in their planning for winter tougeki, but i dont know.
think about it though… VF isnt in tougeki this summer, and that game has a pretty big following.
of course winter tougeki wont be as big as the summer one at tokyo game show, but i dont mind the small atmosphere that Differ Ariake had.
AE, UMVC3, and BB(CS3?) are pretty much given for EVO2012, plus one slot for the 3D fighters – maybe T6 will be replaced by SC5 if it manages to not be as terrible as SC4. 3S in the last slot would be nice, but I don’t see it beating all of SFxT, KOF13, Skullgirls, AH, MK9…
Hey, obviously, 3S is not the game commercial tournaments want to support. Sure, it gives us the shaft, but you can’t blame Tougeki and EVO for “dropping” a game that both think isn’t “up to standard” par.
Yeah, it sucks, but I’m not too discouraged. Japan pretty much created the Danisens in response, & us American folk were loud enough to spark a literal rebirth of our Fight for the Future. I’m pretty sure we can create our own 3S tournies, too.
So 3s is going back underground? This sounds like a good thing.
Underground projects are usually much more innovative in subject and strategy than any commercial project would ever dare to even attempt. I’m also glad to hear twitter won’t be affecting anything.
Seems doubtful if OE makes an appearance at Evo. The list of possible games is very large, so it would have to be very popular to even be considered. Its a tough call, but even if 3S will not be in Evo it will be in other tournaments. That you can bank on.
Really though, 3S will have to beat out interest in SFxT, TxSF (Tekken & SF crossover in Tekken’s format), Skullgirls (yeah it will), KOF, & whatever other fighting game that comes out that didn’t get a spot in this year’s EVO. 3S will also have to contend with all of the older gen fighting games, too. I might have to, (sigh), compete with Smash Brothers.
Considering the Smash community’s been kinda shooting themselves in the foot regarding their relationship with SRK/Evo, 3S has a way better chance of entering Evo.
Fighting games that will be out for EVO 2k12 spots (off the top of my head) excluding Third Strike OE
SSF4 AE ver.2 AKA AE2012
UMvC3
MK9
BBCS2+
SFxT
KoF13
Skullgirls
Soul Calibur 5
I know there was a MMA type game that the developer really hopes will be popular/good enough to be in EVO lineup
Then there may be an odd ball game that comes up and gains popularity
OK . . . I’m going to try and say that WE ALL KNOW THAT

are most likely going to have a spot in next year’s EVO considering the size of each game’s fan base.
I’m assuming there are only going to be 5 games next year like there were only 5 games this year (BBCS2, T6, MK9, MvC3, SFIVAE).
This leaves “one spot” left (there could very well be more spots). I’m putting BBCS2 on the chopping block simply b/c it was the first and earliest on Sunday which I interpreted as “EVO staff thinks BBCS2 will get the lowest showing” considering it’s Las Vegas, and most people probably weren’t awake at BBCS2’s finals.
I’m leaving Tekken up there b/c Namco would be pretty pissed with EVO if it wasn’t up, and it has an OK US following.
For that last spot, I’ll put 3SOE (3S being a game that has already been axed by EVO & now by SBO) against:
BBCS2+
Skullgirls
KoFXIII
SC5
SFxT
&
TxSF <— tekken style
Puzzle Bobble
Rock Paper Scissors
I’m betting Blaz takes it again or it’ll get replaced by SFxT. I don’t see why TxSF would be in EVO while TT2 is already there. Those might interchange. I would love for Mike Z’s Skullgirls to get amazing exposure, but not before 3S. I don’t believe KoF has a large following in the US =(
I believe that odds are stacked against 3S =(
Staff probably looks at it like bringing back Garou or introducing Hokuto.
if a lot of people support this game at the tourneys around america, it could get into evo. start traveling you online warriors!
I doubt it, far too many new games coming out between now and Evo for an old game like 3s to make it onto the main stage. That is unless capcom decides to push the game onto the organizers. A side tourney is quite likely however.
TTT2 won’t be on consoles yet
TxSF is way in the future
3S doesn’t HAVE to be at EVO. We can start with a push at any of the other tourneys.
But EVO is not ran by Capcom.
I don’t see 3S returning to Evo because at the end of the day it’s still the exact same game as it was on the PS2.
Mr. Wizard confirmed it will definitely not be back at Evo next year in the latest Alphaism, just a heads up.
