Ironman in depth

In our place, everyone uses Iron Man (mainly because it is set to Level 1 and IM is arguably more dangerous than in Level 2)… You’ll see a lot of Iron Man setups and infinites like on this video, executed by one of our players:

I’m having a really hard time getting from a s.hk launcher into the infinite (which I can do just fine off of a u.hk btw). Whats the absolute easiest way to get into the infinite from a s.hk launcher in midscreen or the corner?

After launch, just do df.hp, addf, lk, mk, up fierce, infinite, thats the easiest way.

it also depends. if you land a s.hk as an anti-air. a lot of his setups wont work and you will need to compensate. It also depends at what height you hit them while they’re in the air.

Take note that it really depends how you achieve that s.hk. was it a solo s.hk? or did you land hits before (ex: c.lk, c.mp, s.hk… vs a solo s.hk)

If you land a solo hk on a grounded opponent, you have to do the infinite setups a bit faster. If the hk was after a c.mp (which brings the opponent slightly in to the air) then you can do the setups a tad bit slower to compensate for the height difference of the opponent.

Like Fars13 said, d+hp, addf, lk, mk, U+HP / is the easiest. You just need to make sure fly screen isn’t activated (2 hit jump in or air hits)

If fly screen is a problem, then you need to do some U+HP setup (no neutral or d+hp setups). I don’t know which is necessarily easier, just learn one and master it.

upFP and nFP setups are the only 2 setups off launch necessary. the fulfill very specific roles that the other cannot. dFP provides nothing compared to those 2. I don’t think I’ve ever used dFP. you can still use it…but nFP and uFP are way more important to learn.

you can do IM’s reg GB starter (j. uFP), from there you can do sjLP, adufLP, uFPxxFLY, lk, u or n or d+ FP+psyxxUNFLY)

and i keep getting destroyed by the players that have been playing for years
i know it will take some work. but if you still play and dont mine helping me with iron man i will be grateful…i really just want to learn how to do the neutral combo with iron man and the fly unfly to the ground…i been trying and trying and can’t get them my name on xbox live is big2901

Thank you kindly. Psy has a few. None of them as good as the god tier. I forget what she has midscreen, but i know she has some (sorry, i’ve given up marvel for the most part).

In the corner you could always j.lk, delay (guard break), lk psyblade (no mash). This one is useful because you can land and OTG with a c.lk. Yea its rollable but I swear 95% of people don’t roll out of it unless they know its coming.

You can also time a super jump psy shot at the perfect height, i haven’t done it in awhile but i think you need to be roughly at the same height as the opponent. Depending where you and the opponent is defines what you can follow up the guard break with. This one is the sexiest if you do it right. If they push block, they make it worse for themselves.

If guard breaking isn’t an option, then c.hp + dash is a really useful 50/50. You can dash under and dash back, or simply just time the c.hp under the opponent so that NEITHER of you know what side you’re going to be on. Very simple, yet effective.

If you were on PS3 i’d help you but you’re on xbox. I’m pretty familiar with what to do in what situations so if you had any specific questions, i could help.

wow I’ve been trying to get straight answers about them most efficient air to grounds for years. 90% of my launches are anti air or after a low strong so the typical combo doesnt really work. If you guys have anything else to say on this matter I’m all ears…or eyes.

The problem right now is that I always kara cancel the Sj.hp into the airdash, got ants in my pants.

what do you mean efficient? the standard is the easiest while the only upFP addf upFP one is more damage/quicker to get to ground. there’s no easy way to do it.

if you get a lot of anti air launchers, do sj.fp addf. works everytime, no unfly needed.

yeah I’ve been on ah3 so much. I tried playing some online mvc2 and I’m so not used to it. getting beat up by button mashers lol.

it’s year 2011…but there’s still plenty of players so I think it’s good to learn. there’s more resources out on youtube now and more players that can execute things, so you have a lot of help available if you need it.

as far IM combos, I haven’t really come across something I can’t execute compared to other players and I’m subscribed to this thread, so I can always try to help with most of those things. knowing that you’re already experienced and prob. have good tech you might not even need help. and if you do, it should be an easier process.

if any of you guys play magneto/ironman…learn to do the j.HP whiff during ROM. you can build 3 meters from the very first cr.LK at the start of the match…it’s just enough to kill most characters (and whole teams) if you use combofiend. I’ve gotten many perfects off this. it can also come in handy in general.

though with magneto/ironman/doom you only need 2 meters by the time you’re ready to DHC. :stuck_out_tongue:

I know IM strats… I just can’t execute with him… In fact, I know his strats because I’ve gotten my ass beat by Josh enough to know my strats. lol
