Different Infinites…
My IronMan infinite (ground version) is down-pat. Ive even altered it into unfly. Thats where I get a little flustered, because of the button commands and timing. The aerial infinite is giving me some trouble. Ive practiced it on arcades, but I cant get the right positioning, button-timing, and just comfortability with the arcade stick.
What are the commands, and timing for the aerial infinite? Besides that aerial infinite, my IronMan is about a 8 1/2. I think thats whats missing to get me to a god-like IronMan…
P.S. I appreciate any advice to better my infinites…
there are different variations. There is at least a couple listed in this thread and several on youtube you can search for.
Nothing special.
-Learn the inputs
-Make sure to fast fly (ironmans combos have a lot of leniency, just cuz it combos doesnt mean it was a technical fast fly)
-when you fast fly, make sure you’re fast flying towards the opponent
-be precise with your inputs/directions to prevent unibeams from coming out
Other than that, its kinda hard to describe the timing since there is so much mumbo jumbo going on. Just watch the videos and whore training mode.

I think my question is more appropriate in the ironmannoob thread, but I wanted to comment on the above so to keep it all in one place here goes.
I’ve been playing ironman since the rerelease. I got some of his basic stuff down and once that infinite starts up the opponent might as well put down that controller until the char dies. My problem is getting an opening. It’s so damn hard for me. i just need a launch, ANY launch and I’d be happy. I usually do c.lk c.mp launch for low hit confirms (many times the launch won’t hit because I’m too far but the first two hits will) or j.down fierce for overhead (better stun than j.lk ).
I’ve read up already on my options in terms of starters/setups to use, but it’s no good if i can’t get an opening. I’d like to ask for help on how to integrate all those with my team, gameplay-wise, so I can get an opening to use those starters/setups.
I use IM/sent-y/cykes. I only know to use drones for cover while i wave dash in, and a basic c.lk+cykes s.mp j.up fierce into infinite. everything else is random assist mashing.
What kind of openings are you looking for? For the Air semi-infinite, the ATG, or just jumping infinite setups?
For the air semis you need to make use of his airborne normals. His whip (HP) isn’t apart of his hitbox so take advantage of that by trying to SJ.U+HP at max distance on sj’ing characters. Use your sj.lps/lks for opponents a little bit lower in the air or who are right above you.
For launches, sometimes you need to bait them. Ironman is pretty decent at playing short term zoning/keep away. call assist (drones/rocks/em disruptor) and sj and smart bomb. Work on these zoning setups and when they get in, thats when you can try and go for an anti-air s.hk.
Once you get them scared of your s.hk as an anti-air, they might block next time they successfully jump in on you. thats when you go for a cross up or high low mixup. hell, instant overhead if you’re sexy.
The key to prevent unibeams from coming out after the unfly U+HP is to use the “7:30” rule. Imagine a clock and the hands are reading 7:30. Your joystick should be following the path of the hands starting at D/F(short hand of the clock). I hope that makes sense.

the openings i’m talking about is simply getting in a hit. All my opponents (even the shitty ones online) somehow always manage to block everything i throw at them. Once I get in a nice solid hit i can react to, the character is as good as dead. I guess I’m looking for the best ways to get close, keep pressure on, and force an opening with my team. I used to play a turtling IM which worked a lot better for me, but against Cable it’s worthless. It’s hard for me to even get close to Cable.
Do you have any good and easy crossups or high low mixups that you mentioned? How do you do an instant overhead?
I see in a lot of videos IM would just airdash forward right over an opponents head with an assist to help cover and hit some lk’s in the air. Whenever I try to do that, either I get hit or I’m too high to land a lk in the air. Do I need to sj adf instead of normal jumping?
I understand the joystick should return to neutral in order to avoid unibeams. I just gotta get used to that on my own.

yes sj. more. I hardly NJ. and once I get unfly I like never NJ unless I’m pretty sure I’ll get the infinite in whatever situation.
instant overhead is sj.lk. tack on an addf lk, d+hp. very useful.
do trijumps with lk mks & lk fps
don’t do jumping down fierce punches…lks are better, safer, and mk does enough stun to react and hit into infinite. also, HP doesn’t count as an overhead in the air so they can block low.
honestly, it not too much about rushing and hitting, it’s about counter hitting. against the better opponents, they can block IMs shit EASY. it’s not that hard. you just need to keep the pressure (for cable at least) and react and counterhit to 300%
Man, even I’m learning some stuff. I could never get that combo you do on regular characters down but I notices that you tap forward before the fly lk then unfly fp.
after playing BB Hood’s FUN team of bbhood/doom/IM I came up with an unfly air to ground utilizing bbhood’s projectile assist. may have already been discovered…but here’s a vid with some inputs on side

this is all impossible to me im new to marvel i constantly get killed by msp and cable this game gets me so frustrated and yet i still keep playing to try to improve so far ive got nothing
could it be that im using a jap stick
be more specific. what team do you use? what order? what exactly is the opponent doing that murders you?
well i use ironman doom and sentinel i was get destroyed by msp or cable i also use strider doom and sentinel or ironman
it seems so hard to improve on this game because no matter how hard i train i get beat and people online would trash talk teabag send messages anything
Okay, I picked up Iron Man a couple days ago and I got his infinite down pat from the jumping U.HK, which seems impractical in a real match. I can also do the infinite off of Cable’s AA assist. Right now I’m trying to figure out how to do the solo infinite setups and they’re giving me a lot of trouble. Is there anything else I should be learning?
My planned team is Iron Man/Sent (drones)/Cable, though I just saw how easy it is to setup the infinite off of Psylocke’s AA assist, so I’m thinking of using IM/Psy/(someone) until I figure out the solo setups.
Also, I can’t seem to super jump after a c.mp for the life of me.

Okay, quick question…what is te notation for the standard bread and butter ATG? I’ve seen a whole lot of variations, and just wanted to know which one was THE one pretty much.
I love Iron man and I would like to learn him, I read most of the guide , I hav read it and i use magz, iron,psy.
I learned hte infinite and i set it up with psy assis t i just turtle, call it and inf, or sj.addf, up+hk and go from there to inf, but Thats all i know so what would u guys recommend i learn next, more set upps for hte inf? if so give me easy ones remember im a ironman noob
Well fabriziox1, i guess u need some more solo setups for the infinite, for example c.lk, c.mp, super jump cancel, sj.lp, add, add.lp, u.hp, infinite, for this one i found its easier the timing for the super jump cancel, if u make a little delay between c.lk and c.mp, also remember to input the s.lp the fastest u can, also dont forget to learn how to rush down with iron man, everything u need to know its on the original Ironman in depth post, of course watching some iron man matches will be really helpful. hope it helps. I don’t think u really need resets for this… but i know a few ones that may will hep u.
In the corner after any rep of the infinite just Hp grab ur enemy, so before the dummy touch the ground u do launch, and re - setup for the infinite.
On the mid screen u can nj + psy or mag proj assist (bout will work), then air dash forward, then in the air, when in the other side, input lp (if u called psy) or lk (if u called mag), up.hp, and continue ur infinite.
For the heavy characters u can take them higher, and after any rep of the infinite sj.lk, addf, uf.hp, on the other side, launch, setup for the infinite and continue ur infinite, this last one by BEATS, it works in the corner and in the mid screen…
I know a few more ones, but try these first, so i hope it helps. GBU
