I use Tron on one team, and what works against it is
Characters who are always jumping and crossing up, she come out in front so its easy to jump over her especially if you anticipate it.
Use a full screen hyper such as Ryu/Akuma shinku hadoken, iron man proton cannon etc. Fast safe full screen hypers. Easy way to punish assists you don’t like.
yo guys, there’s a glitch regarding dark phoenix and tron’s command grab
basically you dont get hit out of the DP transformation burst, and phoenix is too low to do anything on her way down from air to ground to do any attack during tron’s recovery of the grab so i guess you can land her grab super as soon as phoenix lands or something?
tron’s grab hardly gets used anyways but i thought i’d like to share it
thank you so much for the reply, i guess i was focussing on pushblocking the drill to see that it was punishable, even one thing is more than nothing, she get hurt out of her lariat you say? nice.
So, perhaps this has been mentioned before, but Tron’s hair goes back to black for a brief moment when you tag her in while using her red or blue colors (blonde/orange hair). She does it when she raises up the robot’s fists.
Hey, I used to use wesker/ammy/sentinel but I d like to avoid using sentinel for a while and I thought I would try out Tron. She has really great synergy with the rest of my team, her assist(flame) has a lot of uses also. My main problem is that when my other 2 characters die I cant do much to Tron I get rushed down and I have to hope that something will connect and I can xfactor to win. Anyway I was wondering the best ways to get someone off of you as Tron and maybe her fastest normal. Lastly I was wondering if you think Tron can fight without an assist, keep in mind I pretty much always save x factor for last character. In the meantime am going to try and watch as much Tron videos as I can too see how she gets in on people. Thanks for your time : )
I’d say Tron is very capable as your anchor. Against rush down, you can try to zone with f.H, servbot launcher, and her gun special. If they run into a launched servbot immediately do a H Drill and you should be able to catch them. If you happen to catch them in her gun special because of a reckless attack, you can do whatever the hell you want to them. In x-factor either of those situations should lead to a death dealing combo, possibly even without meter spending depending on the character/their remaining health. Just make sure you don’t get carried away with zoning, its not meant to be spammed, and that’ll likely get you in hot water.
Once they close the gap, pushblock them if they’re in your face, and then immediately jump. With her j.H you’re gona wana stay in the air quite a bit against faster characters. Try to land a hit, if you’re in x-factor a successful j.H will most likely lead to enough damage to kill them.
Against zoner’s i typically either super jump j.C or jump forward, dash, and drill to get my way in. She has a ton of air mobility for her size. Once your in stay in with pressure. IAD j.C, m, f.m, jump cancel, air dash to j.C is a great blockstring even without an assist. Try to IAD j.C imediatley after getting pushblocked too to stay in there. You can mix it up with c.l or throw attempts occasionally, or super jump cancel f.M into a drill if you think they’re going to try something to combat your j.C.
Also, don’t forget that X-factor H Drill not only flies across screen but does insane amounts of chip. Don’t spam this because it’s punishable, but if a character is almost dead i usually just go for a blocked drill. Also blocked drill to command grab hyper combo does a ton of damage, and can be a good option in some cases if you have the meter, especially against slower characters.
I’m sure there are other strategies but this stuff has worked very well for me so far.
Yea thanks man, I too was considering using tron as my anchor(yes justin convinced me to do this, and i am proud to say it lol) since her flame assist is a really good get of me move, but at the same time seems to work as a decent anti air I think ill replace haggar with her. Plus I love all her animations, the little things she does like looking behind her when she is backing up, and covering her eyes when the flame goes off, capcom did a very good job animating her.
Yeah, I haven’t spent too much time in the lab with the servbot launcher, but I’ve pulled that trick off several times on the fly playing a buddy of mine. I’d like to experiment with the move more, it seems like it might be slightly underused. Plus its hilarious.
I’ve been using Tron for the past few days and was wondering what’s a common blockstring I can do to be safe? I’ve been using drill, but as you may all know, it’s not the safest move to use on block, especially when really close to the opponent.
f.M is jump cancelable on block, so any string can that can lead to f.M can be jump-canceled and made safe. You can also IAD out of j.M and use j.H to repeat the string. There are many possibilities.
This. Also, don’t forget about Tron’s command grab, if you’ve got your opponent pressured, drop a blockstring into a command grab, and if you’re in the corner (which is stupid easy for Tron to set up) its simple to follow up her command throw with c.:h:>f.:h:>:a1:>:qcf::h: into whatever have you… (as long as you have an assist that’ll keep them in hitstun long enough to land the :qcf::h:)
Edit: also, I’m not sure about this (since I don’t use an OTG assist), but could you OTG assist after Tron’s command grab into >f.? I’m just curious…
^ yes, that’s possible. I’ve always just qcf+light after an otg, it allows for more range if you’re a lil far away. Your way seems like it would cause less hit decay, though, so maybe that would be the way to go.
Also, another safe string (correct me if I’m wrong), and it also provides a lot of time to hit confirm, is cr.l, st.m. They bot hit multiple times and give you loads of time to see if the opponent blocks. If they are blocking, I just do cr.H xx rockthrow and simultaneously call doom molecular shield to keep them in blockstun so I can be back at applying pressure. If it hits, though, it’s combo-city.
The only problem I see with c.:l: into is that since they both multi hit, the rest of your combo will do less damage because of scaling, but it certainly is an easy hitconfirm, which is sometimes worth the drop in damage. Another good use for c.:l: (at least if you run Akuma or C. Viper) since it multi-hits, call Hyakki Gojin or Burning Kick for lol-unblockables, plus since you can call both assists in a combo, you can still use your other one for OTG.
the second M after f.M should be done instantly… like up+m… i kept dropping the combo cuz i would try to visually confirm the jump cancel first… but thats too late.
it should look like Tron is shovelling just below the toes rather than the torso of the opponent when it’s done too late…
