With one bar cl MP-EX Glove- stMP-PPP
Without: cl.st.HP-LK-MK-cr.HK
I find myself sometimes losing against the worst Ryu/Ken teams doing nothing but crossup, jab, jab, crossup, jab, cross rush, etc…
I know that the biggest problem is, that I’m an idiot
But what do you guys do against that? Is late autocorrect Lariat the best? Don’t find it very reliable.
Or is it just a question of getting the timing down for it?
Ive made a tierlist for Zangief vs. Char this list is very temporary, and can change drastically. But with the current technology it feels like this!
SINGLE CHAR MATCHUP LIST SFXT:
Zangief vs.(Zang on left, opponent on right)
•Abel 5-5

•Balrog 6-4
•Cammy 6-4
•Chun-Li 5-5
•Dhalsim 4-6
•Guile 5-5
•Hugo 6-4
•Ibuki 4-6
•Juri 4-6
•Ken 5-5
•M. Bison 5-5
•Poison 4-6
•Rolento 3-7
•Rufus 6-4
•Ryu 6-4
•Sagat 5-5
•Vega 5-5
•Zangief 5-5
•Asuka 7-3
•Bob 6-4
•Heihachi 6-4
•Hwoarang 6-4
•Jin 4-6
•Julia 7-3
•Kazuya 6-4
•King 6-4
•Kuma 6-4
•Law 6-4

•Ogre 6-4
•Paul 9-1
•Raven 4-6
•Steve 8-2
•Xiaoyu 6-4
•Yoshimitsu 6-4
Looks pretty good so far.
But I would score Gouki a 5-5. Find it easier than ever. And also Rolento 3-7? Probably slightly in Rolento’s favour but I never really struggle against Rolento. You should down his stupid twirls with Super completely. 2nd twirl is unsafe against SPD I think.
His stick shenanigans are weak against reversal lariat. His long-reaching pokes can be annoying though. Try to catch with a EX RBG sometimes
On the other hand: I still struggle against stupid air tatsu Kens. So hard to AA, but thats prolly just me
Bison can be a bit difficult sometimes as well imo.
No, Ive never lost to a normal ROlento. Because they cant play. A good rolento would get one hit of cheap dmg. and run away for the next 99sec. Which he very well can do vs. Zangief, and he also wins on the poking game, he shouldnt even use rekkas. Doesnt need to. Doing random EX-Beargrab is not a matchup strategy, its a last resort. Rolento keepaway game, in addition to his destruction in the footsie game makes this a clear 7-3. If people pick up this game more seriously, and good players start using rolento you will see what I mean. Its terrible.
If you fight a Gouki that knows zoning you will see that it is harder. But Then again, maybe you are right about this one
Yeah, you are right. A good Rolento CAN and will (when people start to understand the MU) run away.
I think I was influenced a bit too much by all Rolentos I played so far. And most were rubbish
Exactly thats how we must think, what would a good player do
someone who doesnt think the game is about s.lp s.lp c.mk rekka on block <— get punished, but do it again
I definately agree with Ryu being disadvantage vs. Zangief, fireballs just don’t cut it.
I don’t agree with Kazuya/Zangief being 6/4 for Gief though. It feels more like a 5/5.
Have you tried throwing out random c.lk vs. Kazuya? and using s.lk on whiff? its really godlike vs him.
Heihachi is a much more stale fight, all about either player whiffing dat poke.
Also, GIEF RBG hold / dash back is great vs. theese two.
Thing is with RBG only works vs Kazuya if it’s EX, if he does S. hp xx EWGF grab will lose to invincibility to EWGF:(
This match is you knock Kazuya down or he knocks you down.
I don’t feel Kazuya is at disadvantage with footsie vs. Gief either, they play into eachother strength.
Kazuya’s Cr. mk is really good too, especially buffered into qcf+mp. You can’t jump on Kazuya with Gief either… because the jump is really short so he can make EWGF hit you.
So who’s going to be giving SFxT another go with the Red Cyclone with the upcoming DLC? I haven’t played really since I hit A rank since I was sick of things like air tatsu nonsense and getting jabbed until timeout.
Being able to play two of my favourite characters (Blanka and Zangief) is tempting.
I am definately going to play after DLC, Zangief/JACK-X seems tempting.
Still playing, not gonna stop. Team him up with Duds and Cody. Atm with Hwoarang and sometimes Kaz…if I’m in the EWGF mood

Too early to celebrate yet. Dreading this, tbh, considering the SF4 balancing.
How are you playing the Bison MU?
I seem to struggle, even against stupid dive-happy Bisons. What Air to Air are you using? MP?
Here are a few basics for Gief x Hwoarang:

Heh I’ve got some goodies for ya!
–Juggle, basic st mp, st mp, st mk xx st hk, dash, dash, lp green hand
-----If opponent stands: green hand stays in front of the opponent, recover before opponent gets up
-----If opponent rolls: green hand follows the opponent, recover before opponent gets up
–Juggle, basic st mp, st mp, st mk xx st hk, dash, dash, mp green hand os spd
-----If opponent stands, meaty green hand, safe against most reversals
-----If opponent stands then backdashes, spd grabs opponent
-----If opponent rolls, meaty green hand, safe against even Julia super (2 frames)
-----If opponent rolls then backdashes, spd grabs opponent
Mmmm, technology.
That’s brilliant. Thanks.
nice tech UD!!!
u know guys whats my problem with this version of gief??
tick spd is too slow and it doesn work if the opponent mashes jab
like: s.lk xx s.mp – spd the can jab u or j.knees suplex the same
this game is not for graplers …
SPD is pretty slow in this game and the stronger the button, the longer it takes. It’s worth being familiar with the frame data.
