Iron Body - Zangief General

Im convinced now that when u roll u get hit and the ending animation sometimes. My friend gets really mad when this happens and sometimes with me as well. Other than poking to get a hitconfirm i do st.lk etc into launch to bring my Nina back in or combo into EX GH ending with lariat PPP or KKK wat are the set-ups u can do after those…

THX 4 the tip, i’m gonna play later in a sfxt Tournament Final and i’ll face an guile zoning guy.
i’lldo my best

I’m not pro player or something like, i’m so nervious !! it’s my firs final. (i’dont speak englsh too, so sorry if you don’t understand me or it’s wrong write)

BYE!

Do ur best man! When im nervous i play patient and usually catch my senses…

oh man… we started (pair tournament) pretty good. Against guile/kazuya all good, we beat them very easy because we study our past errors.

but suddenly they changed to ken-hugo.

4 ken no troubles but hugo … one mistake and takes half our HP

:frowning:

so we have some mistakes and loose the final :frowning:

well… we had to conform with 2nd place
:stuck_out_tongue:

really i never played against a “good” hugo it’s no a simple thing to manage.

I think once you’re more familiar with the match-up, it’s a lot easier. His normals are slower than Zangief’s, his command throws have pitiful range, he needs EX for a reliable AA and his monster lariat is punishable if it’s not charged to EX.
Let him make the mistakes and his 50% combos leading off a splash don’t work against lariat.

I’m surprised it was Ken didn’t give you trouble while Hugo really did, but I suppose he’s got that intimidation factor.

i always play against a ken w/fucking cross tatsu… so i learn how to block properly.
But hugo scare me cause whe he’s close i don’t knew it what to do.
Backdash: no, jump: no
Block… maybe (and praying for no comand grab).
For all of these reasons i had some mistakes…

hahaha, today i read all thread… and see the advantages za / against hugo --> :frowning: too late :frowning:

ohhh…

Today I have to decide my final partner 4 gief.

I know to play w/:

  • Juri
  • Hwoarang
  • Rufus

And a little bit w/ :

  • Ryu
  • Ogre
  • Law

Can you help my to decide?
Thanx a LOT!!

id say rufus  he can get in close do nasty damage

I found out today that Marduk and Gief do some great work together, I suppose there’s the problem of getting in, but for the damage they can do on touch it seems worth it.

Spinning Back Fist -> Tag -> Any Command Throw
Lariat -> Tag -> Gator Slam HP
EX Greenhand -> tag -> Takedown/EX Takedown

Definitely going to invest in this team until DLC comes out.

yes but got 2 anchors so to say. you will be slow and not agile. you need versatility in your team where if one of your opponents get a bad matchup the other one can fill in. imo is all

Rolls are just like getting up normally except you are in a different location, there are no vulnerable frames where u can’t block or can be thrown for free, go into training mode and record a dummy rolling and holding up, they can never be spd’d. I think the main reason rolling is actually disadvantageous is that if they read ur roll they can position themselves at a sweet spot to where it’s very ambiguous if u need to block left or right on wake up after rolling.

If I remember correctly there are 4 pre-jump frames.
If the opponent rolls and u execute a command grab before ends you should grab it … or not?

No, you can’t jump pre-jump frames. Some characters, like Zangief, also have more than 4.

Yea can’t grab pre jump frames, it’s surprising that I’ve met people who know what a prejump frame is yet don’t know about its unthrowable property, I remember a makoto player who swore that he had a frame trap to command grab that couldn’t be jumped out of.

Hitting someone in pre-jump frames grounds them – if the frame trap led to a throw able status or had low hit stun I could see it being able to lead to a command grab.

If someone is holding up no frame trap or hit stun will allow them to be thrown, while this makoto thought that wasn’t the case.

ah, I see. I was thinking he meant that he hit someone before they actually jumped, not he managed it after they were already airborne.

Since day one i have been playing SFxTK and i have been for everyday so far and i shall continue to do so because on may 25th is a tournament UFGT8 This will be my first time doing a tourny what so ever. Anyone else going?

Even in the case u were thinking they can’t be thrown because pre jump frames are not throwable

I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks for the info.
