Yeah, and while they’re being SPDd, your teammate is free to combo the other one.
Saw some guys on stream who were playing a demo build saying how ridiculous it was keeping someone out for half the game with Guile and getting a knockdown off a confirm letting them send in Gief to piledriver, the general consensus from the community seems to be that the game is going to be very simple and easy.
Zangief seems very good in this game, grapplers in general seem very good, since Zangief can launch you with a f. mp hitconfirm lol.
anyone with a command throw will instantly be good due to the low range on regular grabs, Capcom is trying to break away from regular throws with this one for some reason.
f.MP? Have I missed something? >.<
st. mp my bad lol, the f. actually meant forward not fierce, lol…
Grapplers
I think Zangief is the best grappler in the game, his Piledriver does more damage then Hugo’s, but Zangief has much better defensive options, since Zangief has Lariat and I heard this game has AA issues, but with Lariat 1 button and a great AA all-round he is a beast and cannot be jumped on.
I think rankings go like this
Zangief, Hugo, King and Marduk.
King’s giant swing does obscene damage lol, have you seen it?? it does as much as heavy piledriver I think
I think Hugo will be better than Zangief, for the simple reason that you can combo into his super. Zangief can only combo into his cross art (I guess?). This also means Zangief is a horrible character for using pandora.
I think one of the offensive strengths for Zangief will be using him as a secondary and bringing him in with a launch mid-combo. I figure there will be plenty of characters, like Steve, that can keep a character stuck in block stun while you tag out for one meter and are able to jump over them before the hit-stun recovers- then either knee drop to hit from the front and stuff uppercuts, or body splash cross-up and follow up with a combo or let them panic and just go right into a piledriver (or super, since it’s only a 360 and not a 720)
Oops… how can we forget about Abel, I don’t know much about him since people haven’t used him much in SFxT, I think he is better then King though.
I wouldn’t call Abel a grappler. King is kinda in the grey zone as well.
That’s what I’m worried about. When I saw Hugo combo into his super, I was rather jealous. That and his air throw might place him well above Zangief depending on how the game plays out. There’s no Siberian Blizzard this time aroun!
Keep in mind Zangief’s SA does more damage than Hugo’s, since its balanced around being a grab. That means if you cross art into him, it really screws the opponent up.
Yes, but I’m guessing the difference is quite small. And doing sliiiightly more damage on cross art is not gonna cover up those weaknesses.
Well, its doesn’t seem like comboing into your super will be that useful anyway given how much more damage you seem to be able to get off of EX moves and tag cancels.
I think Zangief will do more damage and have better normals
Pandora.
Remember that doing high damage with normals becomes more valuable when everyone is able to reach the later stages of a scaled combo. You want to get as much as you can out of those early hits.
i think gief will be good but hugo will be better…hugo can take care of the fireball game alot better then gief without using meter…the one thing i will say about hugo is that hes alot slower and i think giefs normals are a little faster and better…which is going to be a good thing concidering nailing one normal will lead to a high damage combo. good thing im going to try out team ultimate grappler and see how that goes.
I think his super art is pretty strong. It’s the only grapple super so far, it only requires a 360 input, and most of the cast are rushdown.
