Damn, nothing beats that feeling that they’re scared as hell of Zangief and are just itching to tag out. I’m not sure it’s a good use of meter, but letting them think it’s a safe distance then EX GH st. mp st. mp st. mk x st. hk feels like a nice way to soften the next character up.
I hit 7778BP and I keep wondering when I should stop playing before I start losing a ton of points.
I tried just very briefly to go with Rolento but I just love knowing I’m using the Space Cyclones. If I knew Rufus well, I wouldn’t be so worried about the points.
ive been using horewang and i got to say his huricain kick to ground bounce makes it easy to tag gief in any time i want for a free combo…im actually playing alot better with gief wang team
Im using Zangief/Ryu and i just hit 12950BP currently ranked 27th in xboxlive (which i am extreemyl proud of) and when you lose you dont loose major bp the most i have ever lost from one loss is 60bp.
FYI Back> Half circle Foward> small step> UP Foward p> will allow you to grab. which means you can take one step then still grab. remember if you gunna land a lariat dont forget to tag out for that extra damage!!!
Anyone have any suggestions for my team? Right now I am running Bison/Gief
I am using bisons sissors kick on block (1st hit) to tag in gief, and get a tick spd setup going. But right now, I am not sure what I can really do with this team, I am not sure what the synergy is with this team.
Bison can use his standing kicks to good effect for poking since there so fast there pretty decent. but other than that i never really fought a bison that gave me trouble. since half of their move set is jumping in the air and coming down constantly its just a matter of blocking and not jumping in when you know hes going to poke you… if your looking for synergy i think you will be hard pressed to find it. if your doing fine by your self then dont worry.
I dont understand vidd… If you have been playing for 4 weeks now, and still not learnt your second char. It might be time to put him on point, and play to improve… Not to raise ur E-Penis.
I actually briefly put Rufus on point last night. I do it a lot more often on Endless.
I think I’ve spoken myself down a bit too much regarding him; it’s mostly a matter of confidence with him.
having skill in both characters will extremly benefit you. i have met alot of people where there good at one character but when the otherone tags in i just destroy them. if your lacking expierence in a character make him point and get that expierence in. but first you need to know what do to do as far as your combos in different situations
Hey guys I’ve noticed that a couple times I swore I got hit out of close EX 360k but I thought that was impossible because it had armor, turns out according to the guide it only has armor for the 1st frame? And so if someone does a “late meaty” that hits on frames 2-3 (throw activates on frame 4), then you can be hit? Will have to do more testing at home.
Hey fellas, just wanted to let you know of a stream that some friends of mine are running tonight over at our new project, SDUnity. At least for tonight, the play is to run a ft10 between BT Viscant (Dictator/Gief) vs Steinmania (Julia/Jin) live with commentary in between matches. After they finish, they’ll be taking calls and questions via skype and streamchat.
Regardless of character selection, these are 2 great players that are more than willing to answer any technical or general questions you may have about the game. We here in San Diego play a lot, and I know that Viscant has dedicated an ungodly amount of time to this game already. Hope to see you guys there at 8:00 PM PST, and I thank all of you in advance for your support.
I hope your abel to record the matches and upload them someone i have college to go to
btw does viscant play xbox live? if so whats his gamertag, because i fought somebody named viscant and he played Bison point/ and gief anchor.
As a side note apparently i beat xian from crosscounter when he was playing at ts sabins house. The stream showed me beating him twice, im not sure as far as skill goes but im happy i got a win twice its a very proud moment for me

My comment in the end meant no disrespect. It starts at 57:00 i currently have 14550BP and im sticking with zangief/ryu all the way
I’m not sure “synergy” is a big a deal as people made out. It seems like those extended switch cancelling combos eat up meter but fall foul to damage scaling.
I also hope he does stay relatively popular because I love seeing high-level 'Gief play and being in a team game will hopefully mitigate the bad match-ups.
how do you deal with characters with especially deep cross-up jumping back and forth over your heads, and jabbing low inbetween jumps?
Its feels fucking impossible and i’ve only been able to catch some of them with lariat, and Lariat has been nerf’d so bad it isn’t even funny, they can jump over you and cross-up through it making it useless.
I don’t know maybe my Lariat timing is off or something.
Also I’ve been having a lot of trouble with sim, the only real tool i’ve found useful against him is j.HK which either trades or beats out most of his attacks.
and anybody got any simple juggle combos for after a tag in or hitting some one in the air with a flying body attack? so far I’ve only been doing s.LP then cr.HK
I’d REALLY appreciate some help on at least some of these.
Yeah I’m also having problems with lariat as an AA. I think its just a matter of dashing or meeting the person with air-to-air attacks (I still believe he has good priority on his air normals though I’m not sure). My main problem is figuring out what to do on a roll or once I score a knockdown on someone… or whether its really worthwhile going for a lot of spds or launch combos. I think he has good synergy with Bison or Sim on point
Lariat feels really effective to me. It does slightly more damage than SSFIV, it seems to have an extended hitbox and you can switch cancel off of it for decent damage. I’d bet you’re doing it too early; resist the urge to hit it immediately and let it autocorrect to negate the one sided hitbox.
I’m not sure how important is, but try doing it from crouching if you’re not already.
:mp:,:mp:,:mk:x:hk:
It’s a simple combo but it seems to do decent damage. I do the boost combo, st. mp -> snake strike with rufus, switch cancel to that combo if I want to keep Zangief in and don’t mind burning a bar.
